Riesling our French Bulldog has never been to another spa and doesn't know how good she has it. An aside, Riesling is trained to use a potty grate system in our home. It sits on the tiled floor in our bathroom. This occasionally causes her confusion when we travel. One day we went to pick her up from the west side location. Riesling had spied an air vent in the floor that looked like a grate. Apparently in need she released a load of molten diarrhea down into their vent. She always brings attention to possible concerns for me watch ie redness around penis, ear problems etc. She listens to me about health concerns ie hearing/vision, temperament ie possible biting or skittishness, how short or long to cut. I'm currently on 4 dogs needing grooming. Deb suggested I try bringing in two at a time. She followed up a few sessions later to see how it was working & whether or not I wanted to go back to bringing all 4 at once again. A few yrs ago, I had an emergency foster needing grooming. I took to Petsmart East. Worse grooming experience! I now watch through their window and watch the groomers.Not the most patient groomers-watch how they tug the leash or push down on the dogs. I found Deb based on a co-worker's recommendation after a horrible experience with now defunct groomer at Noah's Ark. The groomer shaved so close on muzzle he had razor burns! Hopefully Deb will have recommendation when she retires (which I hope is not in the near future)!!

They called and said that there was some matting under the belly and in the rear end. Gave them the "go ahead" to trim up those two areas a little more. Two hours later they called and said that he was ready for pickup. Asked us to take care of payment while they go get him and bring him out to us. When he was brought out he had been completely cut off of all his coat, except for the tip of his tail, front of his head, and paws. He was trimmed up to look like a poodle! And the bill was $40 higher then what was quoted because of a "matting fee" added to the bill. The young gal who did the job apparently had absolutely no experience in double coat dogs Would not recommend them to anyone I know.

I toured, thought it seemed large and well-staffed, and took the risk. I paid for daily photo updates and they sent me really cute pictures every day. My dogs absolutely loved being at Camp K9. I thought when I picked them up they'd be freaking out like when I get home after going to work. They were so happy and chill, I was so relieved. These crucial details were conveyed to ensure a calm and safe experience for him. Madelyn'a immediate response was one of overt rudeness and unprofessionalism, marked by dismissive eye-rolling and a sarcastic retort, "Oh, like I haven't heard that before." This utterly disregarded my legitimate concerns and set an alarming precedent for the subsequent care. Upon collection, my dog was visibly trembling and in an unprecedented state of distress, far beyond his usual initial apprehension. It is important to note that at seven years old, he has undergone numerous grooming sessions throughout his life without ever exhibiting such extreme post-grooming trauma. The full extent of the horror became apparent shortly after. Once I secured him in his car seat and returned home, I discovered a horrifying scene: his entire car seat was saturated with blood. Closer inspection revealed that every single one of his nails had been severely butchered and was bleeding profusely. This was not a minor 'quick' on one nail; it was a comprehensive and shocking mutilation.I immediately contacted the establishment to address this grave matter with Madelyn Sanderson and her response was one of complete denial and appalling indifference. She disavowed any responsibility, callously suggesting the injuries were likely due to my dog moving around too much, stating "it happens," and incredibly, instructing me to "get over it." This complete lack of accountability and empathy is inexcusable. As a direct consequence of her gross negligence, two of my dog's nails subsequently developed severe infections, necessitating veterinary intervention and causing him immense pain and discomfort. It is unequivocally clear that Madelyn Sanderson possesses neither the necessary temperament nor the professional competence to work with animals, particularly those with specific sensitivities or anxiety. Her inability to interact with stressed animals, coupled with her dismissive attitude and demonstrable negligence, renders her entirely unsuitable for such a role. Given the severity of this incident and Ms. Sanderson's disturbing reaction, I have formally reported this matter to the Board of Health, my local Governor's office, and the Better Business Bureau. I firmly believe that if such egregious treatment has occurred with my dog, it is highly probable that other animals under her care are also at risk. This level of neglect and unprofessionalism is utterly unacceptable and must be addressed with the utmost seriousness.

So that's why 1 star is removed, we haven't tried for a long time to get in here so maybe things have changed but we ended up having to go to Earthwise Pet Supply in East Madison until we moved to Janesville and are now looking for new groomers down there since traveling to Madison for dog grooming appointments is a lot of travel time.
