Ordered the steak Burrito and Steak Taco. Pleasant surprise. Taco was filled to the gills with steak and lettuce, tomato, cheese, and cilantro. Burrito was decent sized. Wife had the Steak taco and Beef Tamale. Well flavored. The service was quick. Food came out in a reasonable time. Ordered small chips and Salsa. Salsa was awesome. We ate it there. Saturday evening. Plenty. Only downside was that they are not open on Sundays. Would definitely recommend and we plan on going back. read more

DISCRIMINATION I am allergic to flour and two corn so I cannot eat tortillas so for the last many many months I have gone in and said, can I please have two steak tacos on a plate with cilantro and tomato with lime. Sure no problem today. The manager told me that the owner said that I have to buy a burrito bowl which will cost me that $3.50 more , but I get more food. Well discrimination I don't want more food and how dare you in 2024 discriminate against people who cannot eat things how much does that foam plate cost? Is it that expensive that you cannot put two tacos on it without flour or corn if you would like to complain because you were family has Allergies here is the email address. TACANIJO 216@gmail.com. The manager said to me I can do this once for you but if I do it again I'll get fired and then the younger girl said I don't wanna get fired. No I will tell you in the past there are people there that cannot speak English and it was really hard to order and they have a better team now however, this is ridiculous I refer so many also, I work for a company where we bring huge lunches in like for 3040 people and they're on our list and they are going to be off our list because no one is going to discriminate in 2024 read more

I'm sorry. The online menu (for pick up) allows you to say yes/no to EVERYTHING that can be in a dish. I am SEVERELY lactose intolerant, so I always say "no" to cheese and sour cream. Any OTHER Mexican restaurant acknowledges that, but Ta Canijo TAKES my order, TAKES my money, and then GIVES me food full of (guess what?) cheese and sour cream. Pointed it out, and the guy just says "Guess what? Mexican food has cheese!". Can't BELIEVE that level of disrespect....why offer the illusion of choice if there is none? Argh! Avoid! read more

Ta Canijo - a burrito wrapped in tin foil - Food Trucks Near Me - Elwood, Illinois

Best authentic tacos around. Cheese quesadilla for $3.00! Staff is always first rate. Very convenient and inexpensive. $13.00 for a steak taco dinner with a soda. Try it, you will like it! Stop for fuel and a car wash and get good tacos! I usually use the drive through. Always accurate and quick. If there are more of these around I would definitely dine there read more

Ta Canijo - a table and chairs in front of a food truck - Food Trucks Near Me - Elwood, Illinois

Friendly service. Authentic Mexican. Hidden gem. Pictured is half of a chicken burrito opened up so you can see the inside. Big portions!

Was charged above stated prices on drive thru menu board. When I brought this to the cashiers attention she blamed it on lack of knowledge but made no effort to correct the price or even offer an apology (Please see both receipt and menu board pics). By this time I had already paid. They have always been on the pricey side but charging me even more that what is stated leaves me feeling cheated. They lost a customer for a lousy $2.09. read more

This is one of several food businesses inside the Food N Fuel gas station; the other restaurants have outdoor signage but the taqueria doesn't, for some reason. Seating is shared among the businesses. Folks from one of the nearby businesses said the tacos were good, and they were right. The counter is designed to look like it's a taco truck, so you can't miss it. I got a couple of tacos; a churro (fresh made!), an elote and an agua fresca. The tacos were fine but not outstanding; salsa is good and assertive - might get it on the side next time. The strawberry agua fresca ("real fruit and real sugar") was awfully sweet but tasty; the churro, fresh, just a little crusty and very nice; and the elote OK (plenty of cheese and mayonnaise; the corn might be canned). They also do quesadillas and tamales (just chicken, at least the day I was there). There were people waiting for food when I got there, but they got everyone's order pretty fast, even my custom tacos (beans, no meat). If you're vegetarian, apparently there's no lard in the beans and no chicken stock in the rice. Tasty; quick; inexpensive. Not the best Mexican I've ever had but it was pretty good, and it sure beats driving two exits down to go to Taco Burrito King. It's nice that someone finally saw the opportunity and provided some lunch options in this area. read more

This is meant for the Joliet location. I have eaten here several times and loved it! That is why this review got 2 stars. Based on my meal tonight, I would give it a negative star rating. My tacos were horrible and the meat was burnt, crunchy and not edible. I also learned if you order tacos, they are put on a paper plate and then aluminum foil is pressed down firmly around the plate. This causes and toppings ( cheese, sour cream, etc. ) to stick to the foil. So now your forced to scrape your taco meat and toppings off the foil. I am so disappointed and dissatisfied. It's time for me to find a different place for tacos. What a shame! read more

From I-80 exit south on I-55 south to Arsenal Road exit follow through many stop lights completely around Exxon Mobil to 4 way multi lane intersection near business parks. At stop light turn left, go 2 miles to Food & Fuel Truck Stop. Inside is burrito place, barbecue restaurant, and Dunkin Donuts. Burritos until 2200 except Sunday. Also if you go past auto track raceway toward Route 53 there is small truck stop with Italian Beef and chili cheese fries across from Pilot truck stop. But 95% of the time, of 90%, I stop for the steak burrito. One burrito fills me up enough. read more

Awesome awesome awesome!!! Went in there at 2130. They close at 2230. I hate being difficult, but the chick said "order anything!" She steered me to the tacos, with a gorgeous smile, and despite only being open for one more hour, I got some of the FRESHEST produce I've ever had. Yall are awesome... DEAR OWNER, PLEASE MAKE IT SO I CAN LEAVE A TIP ON MY DEBIT CARD!!!!! W.T.F. Ants everywhere. Centipedes everywhere. Management is not the greatest, disrespectful, and very judgy. Super unsanitary, saw a MANAGER preparing food with no gloves and using dirty utensil. Tamales have had black hard plastic pieces in them. Corn was almost always from the night before, never fresh. Drinks were almost always in a dirty machine. 10/10 do not recommend unless you want to be sick and have stuff in your food! read more

Pre covid tacos were a buck 25 at this place. Within 2 years they have bumped their prices of a taco to 2.75, because el economio! Not only that you get an unfriendly and rude senorita who by the looks of her is definitely getting high on her own supply taking your order. Panhandlers are less aggressive when it comes to begging for money than this place. Yeah gorda, you should get a tip for your ignorant and unfriendly "service". But since you asked, here is a tip: Consider salads. These truck stops charge nearly twice as much money for junk food as normal grocery stores. They prey on working class truck drivers and other tradesmen. They employ dim witted current and recovering meth addicts to scan barcodes and give out incorrect change. What a racket. read more

Amazing tacos. Had both steak and chicken. Good size and great flavor. Good chips and salsa was made with roasted peppers. Fabulous. Rice was good. Definitely will be back. Yummmm. read more

I came here today to continue my burrito quest. I didn't know this is a chain, I am talking about the 394 Sauk Village spot inside the big truck stop. There is also Duncan's and and a Pop's beef inside. My steak burrito was big for the price, it was very good but I have never seen steak chopped so fine. I would definitely come back, they were very busy at lunchtime. read more

I like going here for the tacos, the taste of the tacos are good. But the customer service is absolute TRASH. I asked for a taco with everything on it & this is what I got. A tortilla with some meat. It was supposed to have lettuce, tomato, cilantro & cheese. The employees are all young & not polite. They're not super rude, but they're definitely not polite. They rush you when you're ordering at the drive thru window, they've gotten my order wrong multiple times, & I'm fed up with it. Why rush someone if you're gonna get the order wrong? Even though the tacos are good, I won't put up with trash customer service so I'm just gonna find somewhere else to get tacos from now on. Definitely would not recommend unless you wanna repeat your order several times, then correct them about it once you receive your order. This isn't the first time I've experienced this either with this place; if it was, I wouldn't have them more chances. This is literally a back to back to back thing with this restaurant. Get some adults that have customer service experience, instead of a bunch of teenagers that don't even want to be there. read more

I had the chicken tacos at the Sauk Village location, very very good, lime and sour cream is a must! You will not be disappointed

Great tacos and burritos. Not sure what the other guy is talking about. We order from here at work and it's always good

We had tacos from their food truck while at Mad Hatchet Bewery in Shorewood and they were delicious!!

This is a great, authentic, Mexican Taco restaurant, within a Center Point truck stop. The food is prepared quickly and is tasty, for sure. The 'meals' include beans and rice and a drink. That's pretty much a real bargain, and the beans and rice are a great accompaniment to your tacos. (and you can have your tacos ANYWAY you want them!) Try this 'indoor-taco-truck', 'Ta Canijo', and I guarantee you'll LOVE IT! read more
