Let me preface by saying that when I rate bubble tea places, I usually compare them in relation to…read moreKung Fu Tea because Kung Fu Tea's bubble tea isn't the best but it isn't the worst. It's not my go to spot but it's always a safe option when that boba craving hits. And they have a good variety when it comes to milky and fruitier options. For additional context, I usually prefer fruit teas and adjust the sugar level (typically one level below 100% sweetness). After trying a few of their drinks, I would rank Gong Cha as being around the same level as Kung Fu Tea. I like that this location normally makes their drinks starting at the 70% sugar level, which is a plus in my book. Overall, out of the drinks I've tried, there haven't been any standouts that result in me craving Gong Cha when that bubble tea craving hits. But, the drinks I have liked have been pleasant. Drink Ordered: * worth trying - [Lemon Ai-Yu White Pearl]: I think the lemon tastes too artificial but it's less noticeable at the 70% sugar level. I like the ai-yu jelly and white pearl combination though. - [Lemon Wintermelon Basil Seeds*]: I really liked the lemon and wintermelon combination. - [Grapefruit Yogurt Drink with Aloe Vera*]: I liked that this drink was more grapefruit forward compared to other similar drinks from other bubble tea shops. I've also ordered this drink with the white pearl topping, which is an equally good topping option. - [Wintermelon Milk Tea with Aloe Vera*]: There was a small sign on the counter recommending the aloe vera topping with the Wintermelon Milk Tea but I would not personally recommend that combination. I feel like aloe vera pairs better with non-milky drinks. The wintermelon milk tea drink itself was good though and had a really pleasant, fragrant wintermelon aftertaste. It probably would have tasted better with the pearl topping. - [Thai Mango Smoothie]: This is a seasonal summer drink. The mango flavor was light and tasted artificial and had more of a slushy consistency. It comes with passion fruit jelly as the topping. I thought that the drink was very underwhelming. - [Lychee Oolong with Ai-Yu Jelly]: The drink was too sweet but could taste better if it was less sweet. The drink is more oolong tea forward. Would I go back? : Yes, but only if I'm in the mood for it. Mr. Wish, which is one of my favorite bubble tea shops, is in the same plaza and I will almost always choose Mr. Wish over Gong Cha.

It was really interesting to be able to try two Tea Do Philly locations in the span of two days,…read morebut good news, guys. We found this one to be better than the one in Chinatown! So fascinating. I thought I was going to have to rough it out through another green coconut drink in order to compare these two locations properly, but it turns out this location doesn't even have green coconut as an option (which is what I got at the other location- spoiler, I would not recommend)! This was the first green flag, and it only got better from there. Even though I love special, unique drinks as much as the next person, I think you gotta have that good old fashioned bubble tea staple store that just serves everything all in one place. I'm talking whatever you're craving, whatever flavors you want at any given point in time, they'll have it. And Tea Do is just that: their menu is huge and extensive, and you're bound to find something that you feel like having. We ordered (rating): Sakura Rose Milk Tea with Boba (3.7/5), The Grasshopper (3.5/5), The Hulk (4/5), Oolong Milk Tea with Boba (4.2/5), Jasmine Milk Tea with Boba (5/5) I got their sakura rose milk tea which was one of their recommended drinks. I wouldn't say I get rose milk teas a lot, but I'd say this was one of the better ones I've had because both the rose and the tea parts of the drink stood out on their own! Some years ago I compared components of boba drinks to main and side characters, so I am thrilled that we have two main characters here. On the other end, though, this tea did lean more watery rather than creamy. What did stay consistent across the two stores was the boba, which comes a bit softer than our ideal texture, but the sweetness of the sugar that they must have steeped these boba in definitely shined through. I wouldn't say they tasted like brown sugar boba, but my sister says that they did; point being that you'll get some kind of sugary taste and isn't that all you really need to know?

They have a huge selection of drinks, so there's something for everyone. The service really stood out to me. I had a small issue while using tap-to-pay. I accidentally added extra boba after starting the payment process, and another charge was mistakenly processed. The employee immediately got her manager involved when I expressed concern about being charged twice. The manager explained that the extra charge would most likely fall off automatically and reassured me that if it didn't, I could call the shop and they would take care of it. Thankfully, she was absolutely right--the duplicate charge was refunded without any issues. Looking back, it was partly my fault because I tend to rush through payment and make additions at the last minute. A little tip for future customers: finalize your order before tapping your phone or card to pay. Overall, the staff handled the situation professionally, my drink was delicious, and the customer service left a positive impression. I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm on that side of town.
