I have no idea where to being with this one... I took a shot on this salon because I drive about 45 miles each way to get my nails done by someone who's done them for ten years, flawlessly. Needless to say, I want to find a closer place. However, this is NOT the one.
I went in asking for a pink and white acrylic overlay; NO tips. The tech that worked on my nails didn't understand much but the very nice woman running things explained it to him. He ground my nails down for so long, soaked them in acetone for so long, and then ground them for so long again, that for the rest of the day and night, and the next morning, I couldn't even touch my fingertips together for the amount of throbbing pain I was in. Unreal.
After getting all of the acrylic off and grinding my nails to almost nothing, he then starts clipping them off at the numbs. I said to him, "Short is fine but you need to leave enough to square off." He nods in acknowledgement but then proceeded to clip them with no shape and rounded edges. THEN, he brings out the tip box and glue. I yelled, "NO!!! I do NOT want tips. What did you do to my nails??" He had no clue what he was doing. She had to come over again and tell him what he did wrong. Well, nails don't grow in 30 seconds so now it's too late to fix anything. I would have left but with nails half done, you can't at this point.
He applied the pink acrylic first. Never before have I had that done. My white goes on first and the pink fills in the remainder of the nail. The acrylic was so thick, it looked like rubber cement. The white went on after the fact and though I told him I like the bands slightly thicker than just the very tips like a typical French, my bands are so thick that my nails look like cartoon nails. I was nearly in tears at this point and by the way, I was 90 minutes in with no end in sight, AND I was due for a pedicure after this ended, if it ever did. He could barely get the white on properly. It went on thick and with no uniformity. It truly felt like he had never done this before a day in his life. Once he was done applying all of the acrylic, it was back to the grinding again. It took a long time to whittle down the thick layers into nails that looked somewhat natural. I had dry skin around the cuticles which were cut on more than one finger to the point of bleeding. As I write this review, I am looking at three scabbed cuticle lines that will likely turn into hangnails for the horrible job he did on them. I had to point out and ask for him to snip the dry skin on my fingers around the nail bed and he couldn't do that correctly either.
Only one coat of gel was used as opposed to the usual prime coat followed by the top coat. Two days later, the gel is all bubbling on my nails. I am truly ready to lose my mind over the incompetence of this person.
Two and a half hours later, I said, "Forget the pedicure. I have no time for that now that this took hours to do." The price list says a Pink and White is $35. I got charged $45 because they consider this first time a "full set." I have news for them - if I have no tips put on, there is NO full set. This was a pink and white fill that I was overcharged for and the absolute worst manicure of my life. Now, I have to pay my original place more money to fix this mess, and I am sure it will take weeks for my nails to grow past the tops of my fingers since he cut them down to absolutely nothing.
I cannot stress enough to anyone looking for this type of nail treatment to please go somewhere else where the technician actually knows what they are doing. Between nicks, cuts, bloody cuticles, bubbling gel, and no concept of how to apply the acrylic properly, I would run as far away from this place as possible. If there was a way to get my money back, I would. I am livid that I spent MORE on this garbage than I spend to have gorgeous nails done by a skilled professional. NEVER AGAIN! read more
