Although I cannot comment on the Lawrence, KS location in particular, my comments are about T-Mobile service in general.
I switched to T-Mobile about 2 years ago as I headed out on a cross country road trip. I signed up at a location in Portland, OR. They PROMISED that I would have coverage in all 50 states while driving. WHAT A HUGE lie they told!
Here are the details of my T-Mobile nightmare.
1. My car (with me & my dog in it) got stuck in a HUGE snow drift in Spokane, WA. I couldn't push my car out, I couldn't dig my way out, I had no winter clothing & of course.....NO CELL COVERAGE! Me & the dog literally had to walk the proverbial 10 miles in the snow to get help. I got frostbite in 2 of my toes, I was slightly hypothermic & clearly angry. Of course, by the time I was able to hire a tow truck, return to a more urban location & warm up, I called T-Mobile to confront them about their deceptive advertising & false promises. They blamed me.
2. We continued on through Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa & Kansas (with no coverage that was promised). While traveling through these states, I lost out on 2 potentially lucrative job opportunities because I couldn't access my voicemail. Thanks T-Mobile!
3. When I went into yet ANOTHER T-Mobile location to see if perhaps my APN settings weren't right, they begrudgingly checked my phone. They claimed that everything was fine. I demanded a credit to my account for the month of NO SERVICE.
4. The T-Mobile Dark Zone Road Trip continued. I then drove through Missouri, Arkansas & Tennessee with sporadic coverage at best. Yes! I was on the interstate. I cut T-Mobile some slack knowing that some parts of the country aren't equipped with some of them there new fangled technology like that there 5G.
5. While driving through Louisiana & Mississippi, 2 pit bulls attacked me & my dog (because there are no leash laws in that progressive part of the country) & with my dog bleeding out & a broken leg, the all too familiar experience with T-Mobile resurfaced. Yep. Gotta love having no cell phone coverage when in desperate need of medical attention.
6. Realizing that I was engaging in Einstein's definition of madness, I decided to bite the bullet, fire T-Mobile & either live without a cell phone or go back to the dreaded AT&T. Not great choice. So, once again, I reenter another T-Mobile store (because remember, I still have negligible coverage from them, so I can't even call their 800 number)
Once again, they try to blame me for all the problems & no coverage. Wow! I didn't know that I was such an all powerful 58 year old woman! I am apparently so powerful that I can block T-Mobile cell towers for 10 states. Amazing!
Tired of the excuses, insanity, no service, pathetic employees, I closed my account. I hope that you aren't surprised by now to predict that T-Mobile tried to charge me an early cancellation fee even though I had a monthly plan. Once again, I waste an entire day dealing with mindless money grubbing idiots who don't even know how to listen.
After escalating the call 3 times, I finally pulled out an old phone and just recorded the hours of excuses, transferred calls, lame attempts to scapegoat me. Of course, I wrote down the requisite confirmation numbers, support personnel names & locations, verbal promises, etc.
Thinking I had finally escaped T-Mobile purgatory, I find out a few months later that they had forgotten to close my account and instead gave my old number to a new customer with it still attached to my billing information. Can you guess how happy I was to see a charge for almost $150.00 on my account that was supposed to be closed? If you answered crazy like a maniac, you would be correct.
And, as usual, I got to participate in that all too familiar daytime activity of hanging out with mindless idiots at a T-Mobile store fighting to get charges reversed.
