We used MetroPCS for 10 years; they were our first smart-phone service... we were pleased with the price-never-changes policy, but were often frustrated with support, both in the store and over the phone; they really never were very intent on understanding my issues and resolving them... so when I recently decided to upgrade my phone (using an unlocked phone that I selected from eBay), I decided to try out T-Mobile and get 5G service...
BOY, am I happy we did!! There was a tremendous difference in attitude and capabilities between the two services... we were in and out with our new services in less than a half hour. I had a couple of setup problems with my new phone and the service, but I was able to call the person who I initially dealt with, and his suggestions were accurate and helpful... Also, we had a mis-understanding about getting the auto-pay discount on the account, so I called their support number; I reached a support person quickly, they quickly clarified what the issue was (I couldn't use a VISA card, had to use a debit card or checking account), and she was able to resolve all of the issues on the spot, generated refunds for the two months that I had already over-paid, all with a cheerful attitude... that was *such* a difference from MetroPCS...
Another issue that had always annoyed me, was that with MetroPCS, if I wanted to move my SIM card to another phone, I had to take it into the office, they had to do a bunch of stuff on the computer, and I had to pay $20 for the priviledge... if the new phone didn't work for some reason, I had to go into the office and pay another $20 to switch it back... this ended up being madness when my LG phone stopped working, and I had to switch back and forth several times while I tried different fixes... I was *furious* !!
So I ask the T-Mobile rep what this would cost with them, and he was very confused, he'd never heard of this routine... "If you want to move the SIM card to a new phone, just do it... you don't need to come into the office..."... and I got to test this out later when we upgraded my wife's phone to 5G; we just removed SIM card from old phone, put it in the new phone, powered up, and the phone was online... no arguments or problems... now I *dearly* wish we had switched over several years ago...
Huzzah for T-Mobile!! read more
