Here are my current issues with T-Mobile.
So I just got off the phone again with another T-Mobile "Customer Service Agent". My phone is a T-Mobile Slide and it is the second Slide I have purchased since I had problems with the first one. The first one I bought I spent over $300.00 on at the store and in a span of only 5-6 months the screen was not responding to my touch, sliding around so that I could not actually press the app that I was attempting to touch, etc. It was a slow progression from these minor frustrations to an eventual complete shut down of the phone. One day, I was sitting at the desk I am sitting at now, with the phone right next to my key board and looked at it and the screed was continually flipping around and would not stop. So, I went to the T-Mobile store where some guy tried every sort of "re-boot" action he could, before telling me that it must have "water damage". I have never dropped my phone, it had no scratches or dings, been left in a pool of water, etc. When I told him this he said "well, it could be condensation in your pocket". I thought, "really? I'm spending $300.00 on a phone that will gradually freak out from the condensation in my pocket? What do people with sweaty hands do? Wear gloves every time they operate their cell phone?" Luckily, I remembered that I purchased "insurance" and so I should be able to get another one. Upon calling the insurance company (since you can't actually get a new phone from the store you bought it from), they informed me that I have to pay $175.00 for them to replace my phone. I couldn't believe that T-Mobile would support an "insurance" company that would follow such a system! Anyways, out of desperation I paid the insurance company for the phone, and I received a package the next day. Upon opening the package and trying to read all the fine print, I found that my "new" phone was actually a refurbished phone. I thought, "Great. Now I've exchanged one broken phone for another". Sure enough, I put my SIM card in, and it wouldn't register with the phone. It downloaded my contacts okay (even though I lost many), but no photos or anything could be downloaded (not even new ones). I could call and text though, and since I have to use my phone for my job (coaching), I needed to use it.
It's been about 6 months since that disheartening experience and my screen is once again starting the same problems the last one had. I have spent hours on the phone with customer service representatives who say it is caused by " a data issue" or "my SIM card has something on it that is damaging the phone". I have gone through every time of reboot, restart, and reset that they can come up with. Though, somehow, every time, they are blaming the issue on me. I just got off the phone with some guy who claims to have solved it by removing my SD card completely and running the phone without if. Two minutes after I got off the phone, my cell is doing the same old screen switcheroo. I actually tried putting the blank SD card in the phone that was sent to me in the box the last time I had to replace the phone and it doesn't work either. When I asked the representative how it made sense that the problem is my SIM card when even when I put a blank SIM card in the phone it still has the same issues and he is replying "oh, the SIM card they send you with your replacement phone is a fake SIM card. I'm sorry, I don't know why they do that." WHAT? I pay for them to send me FAKE products.
Upon learning this piece of information and having to jump through so many hoops with their "customer service representatives". I've decided that I should listen to my boyfriend and get an I-Phone.
