The Cicero Rt 11 store manager, Bill F. (he wouldn't give me his full last name), is a bald-faced liar and quite an expert gaslighter.
On July 9th my T-Mobile Internet gateway wasn't connecting to the Internet. So I called the tech line and after quite a bit of trouble shooting, the on-line tech said that I needed a new gateway and that I could exchange it at the T-Mobile store. No problem for me, since I have already had to return two defective gateways before. I would bring in the bad gateway and they would exchange it, leaving my $50 per month forever plan intact with the same gateway phone number, with ZERO extra charges. It used to be this simple.
On July 9th I went to the same T-Mobile store in Cicero Rt.11. This time Bill F. helped me with getting a replacement gateway. No problems so far, Bill F. was on his computer setting up the new gateway and he told me that, since the T-Mobile tech already had put in my account file that the bad gateway would be exchanged, that I will be receiving a shipping label after my billing cycle. He strongly suggested that I take a picture of the shipping label as proof. He did tell me that I could bring the bad gateway, with the shipping label, to the store to ship if I wanted. I asked if I needed to sign or do anything, he said no and to have a good day. Still no problem, went home and the new gateway worked perfectly.
My billing cycle is on the 11th of every month. So I started to check my email daily for 10 days for a shipping label that Bill F. said I would receive. No shipping label ever arrived, so I spent a total of 3-4 hours over two days trying to get a shipping label sent to me from their call center. Finally a supervisor got on the phone and told me that the gateway phone number has to be cancelled before they can send a shipping label. I asked him why did I have a new phone number when this was a 1-for-1 exchange of a bad gateway? He told me it was added to my account with the new gateway. So, I cancelled my old gateway phone number with the supervisor and he said that I will receive the shipping label after August 11th, the end of my current billing cycle.
I fully believed that this was an easy swap out of a bad gateway, like I have done two times before... Because, Bill F. never told me that I have a new phone number for the gateway and that I needed to cancel the old one. He never told me that I will be prorated and charged for a mid-cycle service change. He never told me that I now have another T-Mobile plan that only has a 5 year price lock guarantee, when I have always wanted my original $50 per month for life plan.
So my bill for this cycle is $96.30, which is $46.30 higher than my usual monthly bill of $50 dollars.
When I went to the Cicero Rt 11 store to have them fix these things. Bill F. said that he told me that I needed to call and cancel my old phone number. He lied to my face, because the only thing he did tell me, was that I will receive a shipping label after the end of my billing cycle (which should of happened on July 11th) and to take a picture of my shipping label for proof.
Now I fully expect more hours of wasted time, trying to get credits for those charges because of Bill F.
Fiber internet is coming to my neighborhood soon, so I will be looking into replacing T-Mobile because of Bill F.
