He SUPER down to earth and does a thorough physical exam. I have been suffering from thyroid symptoms for about 4 years. Been to several doctors and none of them could help me. My symptoms got to a point where I thought I was dying. Was having heart palpitations, EXTREME hair loss, excessive fatigue, random sore spots and bruises on my body, vision issues, rapid weight gain, anxiety off the charts (couldn't get more than 4 hours of sleep to save my life)- you name it. None of the prior doctors could tell me what was happening. And after a while, I believe that they started to disregard my complaints- EVEN after I did my research and TOLD them what I thought was going on. Dr. Launius LISTENED to me- and for the first time in years I didn't feel like the doctor thought I was crazy. After he completed the physical exam- he pretty much assured me the help that I needed. He also said that he would get my hair to stop falling out (as it was falling out by the handfuls- and was so bad, that for a moment, I actually thought that I might have had cancer). I know- an ignorant thought, but paired with the way that I was feeling in addition to the hair loss- that is the mindset that I was in. THE NEXT DAY... his team called me with the results. Sure enough, my levels were low. I got the prescription and was felling better by the end of the first month. Dropped 10 pounds almost immediately. I'm currently in month two- and guess what? For the first time in 4 years, I was able to comb out and wash my hair without any of it coming out. I'm ecstatic! I know hair seems like a small vain thing to most people, but when you start to lose it, it really messes with your confidence. My hair is pretty thin now, and is way shorter than it was 4 years ago- but at least I can now see light at the end of the tunnel. I'm excited for progress and my new hair journey. To top it all off, I feel great. I've never appreciated my health more than I do now. I'm so thankful to have run across Dr. Lanius- a REAL health professional. Just referred my mom and best friend who are having many of the same symptoms. If you are possibly experiencing issues with your thyroid, PLEASE.. go see Dr. Lanius. Dont waste years like I did- risking your health, weight, and hair. Wish I would have discovered him years ago. I LITERALLY feel like he saved my life. I've read that about one third of cataract patients require this follow-up laser procedure. Most need it within 6 months of the cataract surgery. I had noticed that my vision had deteriorated since my cataract surgery 3 years ago. During an annual vision exam with my optometrist he said I needed a YAG and so I went back to visit Dr. Chu. She confirmed that I did indeed need it and it was scheduled for one eye the following week and the other eye the week after. She even provided a recommendation for over the counter moisture eye drops and a coupon to use when purchasing them! Dr. Chu answered all of my questions and during the laser procedure talked me through exactly what was happening. My eye was dilated and moisture eye drops were given. The procedure was done while I was sitting in a chair with the head and chin pressed forward in their machine. There is a clicking sound and it feels like little BB's are being shot at the back of my head. It's not painful at all, just a weird sensation. I highly recommend Dr. Chu at Newman & Taub. I have used her services for a total of 4 procedures- cataract surgery and posterior capsulotomies in both eyes. I have complete confidence in her. She is friendly, professional and competent.

I liked the fact that the building has huge letters on it "Eye Institute of Dallas" because frankly if you need eye surgery you can't possibly see the addresses on the buildings. So that was a good start and much appreciated. The office was clean and modern. They practiced. social distancing in the availability of chairs, which I liked tremendously. I arrived before my appointment time but I did not have to wait too long to get started. All of the people with whom I interacted were friendly, professional, and very competent. I went through a battery of exams to assess my situation. It was all very thorough. When I was able to see the doctor I did not feel as if he was trying to upsell me or rush me into something I did not need. I told him my situation and my end goals, and we decided on a course of action that seemed appropriate. My surgery is upcoming as this review is written but I feel confident that I have made the right decision.

The STAFF is super nice I've been going there for years. Unfortunately there is a doctor there whom isn't up to par, she's RUDE and doesn't have a good rapport. NEVER in all the years of being a patient there have I had to return to have a prescription reviewed. My glasses were horrible, immediately she blames it on the place where I purchased them from instead of listening to what I'm saying, she haphazardly gave me an eye test and writes another prescription that I'm sure is equally as bad, upon exiting the exam room she's seemingly throws the file at the staff member ( "give her a copy of that ") and abruptly walks off UNPROFESSIONAL to the heights degree. Unless Dr. Weikum returns that is the last time I will be at that office. Go at your own RISK, the staff will treat you well , the doctor on staff not so much.

DR Carter succeeded in giving me better than 20/20 which lasted over 16 years! As I conceded my age was beginning to affect my vision, I went back in Feb 2022. Salzmann Nodule Degeneration was seriously affecting both eyes, he explained. In March 2022, he performed surgery on both eyes to remove the nodules which will be recurring. He also used the latest technology to hopefully slow down the growths. Prokera. Prokera uses the amniotic membrane tissue in its products, which is preserved using the company's proprietary CRYOTEK® processing method to ensure the tissue retains its full biologic activity, Amniotic tissue has natural properties that help damaged eye surfaces heal. Prokera products promote faster and more effective healing of the cornea with less inflammation and scarring, leading to improved clinical outcomes with better vision. Sounds great eh? The process requires manually removing the nodules and then applying the Prokera lenses one eye at a time the day following surgery. The surgery, itself, isn't painful. The staff keeps you at ease and DR Carter is pretty quick and thorough. Now after the surgery, and wearing the Prokera lens for a week is not something I would love to do again, but I will, and just have to deal with it. It helps. I'm typing this review a few days later without any glasses and can see quite well. So it works. I posted a photo of the device next to a nickel. By day 5, it isn't so bad. Let me add something important. I will only let 2 people actually touch my eyes. DR Carter and one of his assistants. I trust no one else, not even me! Yes, he has worked on thousands (if not ten thousands of eyes) (Maybe he needs a sign over the door saying how many he's served.) I get the nod of approval from others he has taken care of when I mention who did the work, a few are fellow Yelpers. Many at my workplace. Some others are quite famous and had million dollar careers riding on their eyes. Huge impact on MANY lives. I see some poor reviews on here, and I guess some had bad experiences. My eyes and ears let me know he does have an amazing staff right now. I saw and heard how well that staff responds to their patients. 16 visits in a bit over a year, and not once heard or saw any patients being mishandled.
