The hospital building itself is gorgeous, and while I didn't experience any roaches like others have, I will say it was way to warm in that hospital. I had a conversation with a doctor once on how cold hospitals always are. He told me then if I ever go into one and its ever hot, to turn right back around because a warm hospital is a breeding ground for bacteria and viruses. Yuck. Also like others have said here, we used to love this hospital. We had a friend whose grandma used to work here years ago and would actively come here for our kids. We had two episodes recently that brought us here (same chronic issue), and there was no sense of urgency going into the ER, even when it was empty in the middle of the night, we wouldn't see nurses for long stretches of time. Yes the ER can be incredibly busy and there is fewer staff at midnight, but even still, I've NEVER experienced this lack of urgency. While at Cook, my kid was having horrible stomach pains, as I said we had just come for the SAME issue several months ago. Our immediate family has a history of stomach/G.I issues (from Gastritis, Gallstones, Ulcers, IBS, Pancreatitis, Esophageal cancer from chronic GERD, so our teen wasn't set up genetically for a good stomach). Over the period of time we were there, we got labs, x-rays, sonogram, and never heard any news about the results, never even knew they got the results IN until we asked after not hearing anything for several hours (we were there from 12AM to 5PM the next day). I guess no news is good news, but it would be nice to have any information at all. Because he was throwing up quite violently, they were convinced it was a stomach bug that's been going around, despite the fact we told them this was a chronic issue that we were JUST here in the SAME hospital a month ago. He's also home-schooled, hasn't been around friends in weeks, no one else is sick, so where he would have caught it? The nurses even after witnessing him violently throwing up, shaking from pain, with a SKYROCKETED heartrate from pain, had the nerve to say "are you sure this isn't in your head" "you just need to drink more water". Like what a way to have a teens trust in their nurse who they should be COMFORTABLE telling symptoms to drop instantly. ALL he drinks is water, no soda, he's only dehydrated because of the vomiting. He didn't come here for fun, hates the hospital and dismissing his concerns can make it difficult to bring him back in when he really needs it. I forgot to mention, when we first came into the hospital with him moaning in pain, several nurses watching behind the computer counter all started giggling amongst themselves, which seemed like a coincidence at first because surely professionals would not do that, then proceeded to laugh and giggle every other time he'd moan in pain while he was getting his vitals done. We all noticed. Still no Solid Diagnoses beyond saying its probably a bug (no diarrhea, just pain and vomiting). We ended up staying overnight because his electrolytes are too low. Originally they said you can leave now or if you want to stay the night you won't be leaving until 12pm. Then she said she misspoke because his potassium was way too low, so we would be staying until 12 anyways: where they would take labs again and a doctor could come in and review. We got moved to a room by 5AM. Asked for pillows since we'd be staying the rest of the morning and hadn't slept at all. We did not get those pillows until almost 12PM, 7 hours LATER, a time we were told we'd probably be leaving. No joke, the pillows smelt like FISH. When I looked it up, it said that fishy smell could be materials like sweat, oils and skin cells breaking down, i really hope it wasn't someone's unwashed pillow. Around 11AM he got those labs taken. Again, never heard any news about the results. More hours pass, by 2:30 I asked what was going on and they said his potassium was good now, to which I asked when would we be getting discharged because I thought we were leaving by noon after the labs cleared him. Turns out they were waiting for him to eat and would not be letting him go until then. They never let us know this, and if we had known, he would of tried eating something hours earlier. In fact we were actively waiting to LEAVE the hospital to grab him something light that he wanted on the way home, we were just waiting around snoozing off and on for ANY kind of news. They didn't have us do it for our previous visit for the same symptoms so we didn't know. It felt like we were left in he dark the half the time only for us to leave with no resolution. He's seeing a G.I specialist soon, the wait for the appointment has just been SO long and this last episode is the worst one he's ever had. But it sucks to go the E.R for these flare ups and be dismissed again. Shoutout to the one kind nurse we had out of eight.

I ended up finding a spot on Level 5 and taking the stairs down. My doctor (Maas) is amazing and so helpful. She's been my gynecologist for years and it's such a blessing that she will be there for my delivery. All of her staff have been a delight as well. There is a limit to how many deliveries can be taken each month which is great! The last doctor that delivered mine was overbooked and always so rushed, but not Dr Maas. She helped me through every question I had and explained thoroughly. I'm definitely more at ease with this pregnancy and not dreading my prenatal appointments.

I have been here a year now and I have been connected with several excellent specialist under the care of Dr Nguyen. For us this is a great way to start with a new doctor and stay for a very long time. The staff is very friendly. The wait time is minimal due to the few patients. Dr. Davalos and Evelyn (nurse) speak Spanish which is a plus for my wife. I don't know if the rest if the staff does, but I'm sure they can direct you with someone that does.
