When we arrived, the man (wish we got his name) dropped what he was doing to help. He checked everything out on the filter and connection points and then even reset and did a diagnostic on the computer part of the system. (And to be fair Sergio seemed to be a bit boggled by the issue I brought him but he still went ahead and did a repair...) Fast forward a few months and the issue still persisted, and the transmission ended up not shifting into other gears, so I ended up taking it to a specialty transmission shop yesterday (03.18.2026). All in all I would recommend this shop but maybe just for simple repairs and nothing too out of the ordinary since they do not specialize in any particular area of autos. *Also, it would've been better if they just said that they dont or wont touch the transmission. Unfortunately the repair that was done here may have ultimately damaged the internals because of lack of knowledge with this vehicle. *On another note, I called the number provided on Yelp (and also what I had saved on my phone) and another "Sergio" answered claiming to be a car wash person and he was confused on how I got "his" number. If they did change the number they should disclose it on Yelp so others wont call the wrong person/ repair shop. (Number I called was 805.483.7901 as it shows on Google and Yelp.) This is not to bash anyone, im simply stating that if a shop is not knowledgable on a particular vehicle they (the shop) can choose to offer the client an alternative shop instead of taking on work they cant fulfill or diagnose correctly. In all these years, I only had to bring my car back once, and it turned out the issue was completely unrelated to the original repair. One experience that really stood out happened years ago when my car key broke off in the trunk lock. A mobile locksmith quoted me $250 to remove the broken piece and make a new key. Instead, I took the car to Sergio's. Chava came out with a small tool, removed the broken key in less than five minutes, and had me on my way. He didn't charge me a dime. That kind of honesty, professionalism, and customer service is hard to find these days, which is why I continue to trust Sergio's with my vehicles.

I eventually was directed to Mario's Garage and I'm so happy I found this place. As a woman, I'm always on high alert with mechanics taking advantage of me assuming I don't know anything about cars (tbh I don't lol). At Mario's Garage they were honest with me, charged me very reasonable prices, and were very understanding of any financial restraints I had. I was recommended louie from precision motor werks from a friend and i wish i wouldve never gone. 1st week i took my truck (monday) they said they were going to conduct tests to see whats wrong and they'll give me a call. I never got a call or a update for a whole week. Called friday and they told me the same thing they told me on monday. 2nd week nothing was done and they still didnt conduct tests. So i decided to just buy a new motor since they "couldnt find the problem" 3rd week i went to check on truck and still nothing was done they said they wanted to save some parts from old engine which i didnt understand since i bought a whole new engine and was a different motor ahaha which makes no sense. 4th week i went and they finally had everything in the truck but didnt have the radiator cleaned and he wanted to keep truck longer he said tuesday truck will be ready 5th week i went on the day they told me truck will be ready and they still told me they needed more time i got fed up and had to pull project out of shop. And after all that my motor missing parts and not functioning correctly. If i can give this shop zero stars i would!! i wouldn't even give this shop my vehicles for a oil change!!!! Saturday at 12:30 my Truck (1970 GMC) the steering got super tight and I lost power steering…read more I sit on a lifted truck with large tires. It became almost impossible to turn the wheel. I called several places in Ventura. However they were all closing at 1pm. No time to get it fixed that day. I decided to drive to California Auto Plus. I got there at 12:50. Ten minutes before closing. Owner, Carlos took a look and noticed my "One Belt" had come off. I have a crate engine in there. Which means, my radiator fan, starter, alternator and power steering all run off of the One Belt! He got the belt delivered, noticed one of the pooly's was off point. Took it apart and added a washer to fix it. Which was the cause of the belt coming off., Got the new belt in there and I was in my way home by 1:45. He didn't have to do any of these things. His reviews are real. Carlos was a life saver. He's the real deal. A nice guy that cares about his clients. I have several classics, he's definitely my new mechanic.
