Our son's teacher resigned after the first week of school, but the school continued to tell us she was sick for two months. Our son came home with a letter informing us that his teacher resigned, we were informed that a substitute had been in the class along with a teacher aid. Our son was assaulted by another student stabbed in the eye with a pencil. The school failed to notify us of this incident. My husband was informed of this incident when he arrived to pick our son up from school, he was directed to the nurse's office without any explanation. The student assaulted six other children in the kindergarten class before being transferred to another class, where he continued assaulting other children. Our son came home and informed me another student took her scissors and placed them on his neck and threatened to cut his throat. I took my son to school the next day and requested a meeting with his teacher, whom didn't seem concerned nor did she have any type of plan of corrective action. My husband and I withdrew our son and enrolled him in a private school. I returned to the school to collect his supplies and belongings, the substitute teacher advised me that the teacher who resigned took all the children's school supplies when she left. I was only given one pack of pencils, and four boxes of crayons. We spent at least $60.00 on school supplies. I also noticed the kids were just coloring pictures when I was collecting my sons school supplies. Our son attended this school for two months and never came home with homework. When we would ask him how his day was, he always said he didn't do anything. We understand now why he wasn't learning anything. This is a huge disservice to our children and to the parents who trust Prince George's County Public Schools to educate our children.

My goal was to learn the basics about computing and these classes definitely allowed me to reach that goal. Their hands on approach to learning about computers and how they work has definitely taught me a lot for the short time that I was there. It was a bit pricey since I didn't use financial assistance (which they do offer) but it was well worth the money I paid and I don't regret paying for any of it. The fact that its also a CompTIA examination site, also won me over. The concepts and skills I learned from ACE make going there one of the best decisions that I've ever made but I only wish more people in my field knew about it. Thanks to Ms. Chandra, our daughter adapted within 2 weeks of starting daycare. She also did not speak English before starting daycare but now she has no trouble communicating in English with Ms. Chandra and her friends. She has learned all the alphabets, can count in English and Spanish and knows so many rhymes. She can even spell her name, which is pretty amazing for her age. She brings artwork from the daycare almost every day and we have noticed her drawing and coloring skills have improved significantly. Now she is learning to write the alphabets and numbers. We are amazed by Ms. Chandra's passion, energy and ability to care for 8 kids all by herself. Ms. Chandra also provides 3 vegetarian meals each day, which our daughter likes to eat. We feel very lucky to have found Ms. Chandra and cannot thank her enough.

I was actually blown away with all she learned in such a short period of time. In addition, because the class is small each child receives enough 1 on 1 time with the instructor, Ms. Millis. Ms. Millis, is a wonderful teacher. Under her care and teaching, the little ones are not only very well educated they are also taught the love of God. It's a special thing because it keeps children grounded. My daughter absolutely loves Ms. Millis and she respects her a great deal. My child is now an early entrance student and scored 99% in all categories (reading, writing, math) to be accepted to Kindergarten. At first the sessions were great! The tutors were effective and my daughter made a lot of progress in a short period of time. Honestly, I was very happy with the results of the tutoring sessions, and as a result, decided to have my daughter receive Spanish tutoring. I contacted Total Tutoring and organized for a spanish tutor to come to my house for weekly lessons. These sessions were scheduled for 30 minutes at the request of the tutor due to my daughters young age. The lessons began in September of last year, and as of today, she does not understand the phrase "Hola, como estas?". Needless to say her progress has been minimal. During the time my daughter has been receiving lessons from her tutor, Nannette Simmons, I noticed that she was consistently showing up late and leaving early which is discouraging considering the cost of each lesson. I contacted the agency to express my concerns and asked for a different tutor. I was told by Total Tutoring that they would try to find someone new to replace Nannette. Yesterday (December 2nd), the tutor again showed up late, so I decided to set a 30 minute timer. No surprise, the tutor was leaving early. I informed Nannette that should would no longer be tutoring my daughter and told her it was because she was consistently showing up late and leaving early. After each tutoring session we receive an email with a session summary; this is meant to highlight progress and address areas of weakness for my daughter to work on. I received the session report for the final summary and it was blank. I contacted Total Tutoring, cc'ing Nannette, expressing my opinion that this was unprofessional. I received an update session summary which was even more unprofessional!!! Nannette's updated session summary placed the blame entirely on my daughter!!! She took no responsibility for her actions. I responded to Total Tutoring again, extremely upset with the unprofessionalism shown by Nannette. Total Tutoring's reply was that they should have edited her comments before sending them to me. They took no responsibility for Nannette and did not acknowledge her unprofessionalism even knowing my frustration. They did not apologize for her comments, only stating I should not have seen them. Total Tutoring would get a higher review because they do have some good tutors, but customer service is key to me. I need professionalism and I need a good example for my daughter. I am active duty military and I have zero tolerance for adults who place blame everywhere but on themselves while taking no time for self-reflection. We have had a number of billing issues, at one point there was an issue child to teacher ratios. The communication from the director has been awful. Parents were notified of staff leaving or new staff coming after the changes had occurred. In most cases, we heard of the change from our children. There were times when the director changed plans last minute, leaving us scrambling to find alternate child care. My understanding is that this particular director also manages the Optimal Learning Center in Rockville, however, my experience has strictly been with ICC.
