Beware. Don't spend your $ here - it's not worth it. This was truly a bad meal and a waste of $$. I spent over $30+ for basically the worst meal I've had in a long time. I wish I could give it 0 stars! I ordered Szechuan Triple which was supposed to have veggies, chicken, shrimp & beef. I was disgusted to see not only a container full of onions, but also all of the meat was coated or breaded with something. There was hardly any meat at all - onions & a few pieces of super soft/mushy green peppers. The little beef included was rubbery- basically cooked fat (so gross). There were only two shrimp in the container and a few pieces of chicken - all of which tasted like it had been previously prepared and reheated in a microwave. I spent over 15 minutes looking through the container to extract any meat included - not much at all (see pic). Just horrible! The crab cheese wontons (see pic) were horrendous w/little balls of congealed stuff in it - trash. They were rubbery and the interior was dried & clumpy. How old were these things? It also tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave. I also ordered Orange Chicken & hubby couldn't describe how bad it tasted (trashed). The white rice was also bad. This was the worst ever! This place can be hit or miss. I really wish that it was more consistently tasty and I would give it a better ranking. They have excellent vegetable fried rice but that is the only item that is consistent. Their tofu dishes tend to vary sometimes great and other times they are not edible. On my most recent order, I got the general tso's tofu. It had good flavor but a lot of the dish was limped together and had to be thrown out. Szechuan Taste USED TO BE my go-to place for good Chinese food and good sushi. Not many places can you get both at the same restaurant. The store was owned by Chin and run by him and his family. Service wasn't always the best but the food was good and reasonably priced. This place is NO LONGER Szechuan Taste but Szechuan Tokyo. No longer owned or run by Chin. I was not aware of this for my last order on NYE. The order took two hours to be ready, the food itself was not as good, the sushi was packaged haphazardly. Food is decent if you can get it warm. If they tell you 20 mins for pickup expect it to be more like an hour. I stopped coming here because of this. I came to grab some food on the humble because I was taking care of some business in the shopping center where the restaurant is located. I ordered a couple things from the menu to have for the wknd - since I go on strike from cooking on the wknds unless otherwise necessary. I ordered the lunch special of chicken and broccoli and the pepper steak - not bad, but extremely average at best. I also ordered some wings and ribs from the app section. The wings were gross, though the owner told me they were freshly made. The ribs had not one drop, or trace of BBQ sauce on them and were dry and tuff - my dog loved them though. Their food is delicious! However their delivery times are HORRENDOUS. Out of the 15-20 times I've gotten delivery, around 15 times I got my food after an hour and their store is 6 minutes away from where I work without traffic according to google maps. After an hour when I'm starving! And when I get my food, most of the time it's warm and not hot. But their food is so good! When I actually go there after work and order their food, it's great. I just don't get delivery anymore. Either they don't use a GPS to find me or they must be HELLA busy. Either way, I can't get delivery anymore from them. A lot of their food is delicious and they also have some additions that other Chinese places don't have such as: crispy eggplant stuffed with shrimp, saku chicken, and even brown rice! Their crispy eggplant stuffed with shrimp is really good. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Sweet, salty, and delicious. Their other dishes like General Tso Chicken and Crispy Beef are slightly different than the usual places because they're made up of mostly meat rather than batter. However, the taste is still very similar. I see some other reviewers talking about bad service there, but at least for me, they treated me well and I conversed with the lady there the whole time I was waiting for my food. I have to call out a fellow yelper because I feel like she was being a bit racist or stereotypical towards those who work there. Gabrielle C. made a recent review of the place and reiterated on how the man that worked there, talks. Specifically saying that the guy says "Dat" in his dialog. Why couldn't she just say "that" instead? Why does it have to be "Dat"? Even if it sounded like he said "dat", she could have had some respect for his lack of English. I am so glad that I found my go-to neighborhood Chinese place! I've ordered here several times and each time the food is consistently delicious. Also, ordering for carry out is super fast. I am always impressed at how quickly they bring out my to go bag. I've had the chicken and broccoli and the General Tso's chicken. I haven't tried the sushi yet, but will update my review once I have. One thing to note is when you order the Dinner Combo, it clearly states you get 1 of each (in addition to soup) - egg roll, shrimp toast and crab wonton. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants but it seems as if the food and service is going down the drain. I asked for more duck sauce and soy sauce with my order since they usually just send 2--I order for 3 people and 2 is not enough. Instead of getting more sauce I receive only ONE soy sauce this evening and about 6 fortune cookies. Does this sound crazy or what!!! Not only that instead of getting my food within 45 minutes, I got it two hours later. They are getting worse with the delivery times and the food is getting greasy. If they are getting more business than they can handle or can't handle the orders then they need to figure out how to keep their food quality up and give out more sauces based on the number of orders and not what they think will or will not be used by the customer! Not sure if this restaurant has come under new management recently, but I placed a $42 order about a week ago that was very mediocre. I ordered General Tso's Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and 2 soups. The sauce for both meals were plain, almost like the cook didn't take much time when preparing the meal. Very greasy shrimp toast, egg roll and crab rangoon (with nearly no filling) made up the next course, along with an uninspired duck sauce. I only give it one star because I can't select zero stars as an option. We ordered the orange chicken dinner combo with fried rice. The chicken tasted like it was covered in dirty sugar water. The rice had no flavor but left a greasy film in the mouth. The egg roll was greasy and tasted like shrimp when it goes bad. I've ordered from this restaurant twice and both times have been lackluster. The only thing I've enjoyed so far is the edamame. I am a bulk orderer by nature, so through the variety of different things I've tried recently I can confidently say that their food is mediocre. The egg rolls/ shrimp toast/ and crab wontons are usually over fried with a greasy flavor. And the fried rice is very bland. My lo mein was flavorful but the noodles were overcooked and mushy. Today they forgot to include my soda and white rice in the bag, which I paid for but decided not to go back to the store for. Unless I have a craving for edamame.. Best combination of Sushi and Chinese food in the area. You'd have to go downtown or to Towson to find the quality here. Recently tried their Pad Thai and it was fantastic. Wow, did I go to the same place as the other reviewers? I really had high hopes for this place. What happened? Maybe it's because my guy and I ate in instead of picking up, but we were greatly underwhelmed. I guess the most accurate description of our dining experience was "inconsistent". The host who seated us was pleasant and attentive, but our waitress was almost absent and had a serious language problem. My guy ordered chicken chow mein and was served lo mein instead and it was just okay. I ordered Orange Chicken and it was great. The rest of the combo ranged from very good to seriously lacking. My advice, if this is your closest carry out and you find a dish you like, stick with that dish because the menu is definitely inconsistent. One last tip, the pork fried rice is next to tasteless. This place needs more help! They were nice enough but I ordered at 8:15PM the order did not arrive until 9:45PM. This is a very long time and even then I had to walk out in the freezing cold and flag down the driver because he was new and unfamiliar with our neighborhood. After a long week of work and school we're looking for a convenient Friday fun meal, Szechwan Taste did not deliver. The food itself was pretty average, and the service unreliable. The driver and person who took my order we're very polite and seemed to be working hard, I just don't think they have a workable restaurant delivery system.
