My daughter attends classes here and she loves it ... the instructors are not only amazing with the kids but they show kids discipline and respect and I love that . I started out at this gym/self defense training place and I was surprised to see how many people were there it was great, the day after I was exited to start a boxing class. It was a new experience for me and a great one, which convinced me to buy a year contract, it's been great and this is one of the best places I've ever been to. STC is a great place to begin your fitness journey if you are the type of person that needs to mix up your routine. I can't stand going to a "normal" gym where I am limited to weights and treadmills. Just started here but I really like the vibe and atmosphere. I've trained at PKG in WLA, IMB in Torrance and Machado BJJ in Redondo Beach and while this place is under new ownership, it definitely stacks up to the aforementioned gyms I've trained at. The gym has all the equipment you could ever ask for; boxing ring, full cage, brand new dollamur grappling mats, every type of heavy bag, double-end bag, thai pads, kettle bells, barbells, over-sized tires, sledge hammers, battle ropes. They even sell boxing / MMA gloves, thai shorts, mouth pieces, etc. They offer No-Gi BJJ, kickboxing, boxing, MMA and they have kids classes as well. MMA is taught by Ian Harris (who developed the Fight Science System) and has a great track record of training both up and coming and veteran fighters. I've been a member at Systems for nearly 3 years. During that time I've taken over 300 classes - the majority of which were taught by Marcus. I feel the need to address the absolutely unwarranted attack that Amar has launched against Marcus's character. Marcus is an amazing instructor who is an absolute wealth of knowledge. He goes out of his way to make everyone feel welcome and has built an incredible sense of community and family for the members. I was in class the day that Amar claims she was sexually assaulted by a CHILD. I'm a female and I have partnered with males (including the child Amar claims sexually assaulted her) many times. In a class like Krav Maga there is going to be contact. However, in my experience, everyone has always conducted themselves in an appropriate manner. There were only 4 students in class the day Amar claims she was sexually assaulted, 2 groups of 2. So, I can assure you Marcus had a close eye on the situation. For Amar to compare Marcus to the people who stood idly by while Weinstein, Cosby, and Trump sexually assaulted multiple women is completely irresponsible and does a disservice to women who have been fighting for years to have their accusations of sexual assault taken seriously. Marcus has spent his career teaching women how to defend themselves against such attacks - to claim that he would turn a blind eye to such behavior is ridiculous - if something inappropriate was going on Marcus would have put a stop to it. read more

I found this place through a deal on groupon for crossfit. I was a little scared not knowing what to expect since it would be my first time doing crossfit. I finally decided to go in and found out it wasn't so bad after all. I'm currently taking crossfit classes with Marcus, the owner of the gym. He is a great guy, funny and a good motivator. He works with you on your strengths and weaknesses. I feel like this place treats you more like a family member rather than just a client. This gym has been amazing every time I've come up to train here. I've only come a handful of times but I have had a lot of fun every time. The students and coaches who train and teach here are very friendly and are very welcoming. I took the first free class two months ago and signed up the same day. I am a beginner and take Krav Maga. If you are looking for a positive learning environment where all of the staff takes the time to get to know you, look no further. I find all of the instructors to be extremely helpful and encouraging. I leave every class feeling like I got a great workout and improved my technique. The class schedule is great for people with demanding jobs. Our class starts at 8, Monday - Thursday, so there is no excuse even if I have to put in extra hours at the office. I've trained and taught at many, many gyms in LA and I can say, without a doubt, that Systems is one of the best. They have a huge variety of classes and plenty of space for them; a full ring, a cage and cardio equipment. There are plenty of other gyms in LA where you can find a ring or a cage (maybe a half cage) or treadmills and exercise bikes, Systems is the only one where you can find both. Beyond the building itself, the staff is experienced, friendly and, most of all, helpful. That last quality is exactly what you want, and what you'll find, in a martial arts instructor teaching you a martial art or getting you in shape. Systems is a great place for either goal. read more
