The husband-wife owner team have been doing great business for many years in the Eugene area, and have gained some fiercely loyal and long term customers. Joe, one of the owners, is so knowledgeable about plants and I have benefited greatly from his advice when planning my yard and landscape with hedges, year round ground covers and low maintenance shrubbery. Their stonework is really high quality and well constructed. I appreciate the company's sense of environmentalism; using sustainable methods, native plants, and no toxic chemicals. The crews and service provided aren't cheap but the quality of the work is top notch. Before you commence in planning a huge outdoor revamp, or perhaps you know what you want and just need help with the execution of your visions, Earthworks is great to work with. They are very efficient, hard working, and respectful when working around existing plants or gardens. Friendly and professional and brimming with energy, I HIGHLY recommend Earthworks for all your landscape needs!!

He and Cathy did a wonderful little design in our back yard last summer. Our back yard is south facing so the plants needed to be tolerant of quite a bit of heat during the summer months. There's no way I would've known what species of plant would do well or not. Only a couple of plants failed and they've even promised to replace them this Spring! If you're looking for folks who listen their customer and know their stuff, I couldn't recommend Joe and Cathy more!

The project was finished on-time, even after we, (well to be honest, me) last minute, decided to extend coverage area. Last September, I called "TJ's Custom Building and Remodeling" to ask if they could give me a bid…read moreon what it would take to redo the irrigation system in my backyard. Because TJ is the owner of the company, and being a "general contractor", I figured he might have recommendations for someone I could hire to add electrical lines and outlets for additional power sources to my backyard as well. His first estimate included what the fees would be for putting in a sprinkler and electrical systems in my backyard. TJ told me that he runs a "family" business and had a cousin who could do the electrical work. I trusted that he knew what he was doing, so I hired him. First of all, after having paid for all of the parts needed for these jobs, his cousin ended up being late and extremely irresponsible resulting in his not completing what I hired him to do. TJ himself dug trenches everywhere and put in irrigation lines with sprinkler heads that were ineffective in most places. He often worked late and never did come back up to do a final walk through with me. I called him a number of times to get parts back from him that I had paid for that he never returned. I later found out that his cousin who ripped me off for the electrical job I hired him to do was on drugs. TJ was equally as inadequate promising he'd make things "right", but I never heard from him again. Now, I'm having to pay another fellow to undo the mistakes that TJ made by installing parts that ended up having to be replaced or removed all together. This entire ordeal was extremely costly, and it ended up leaving me with electrical and irrigation parts that were either not used or were wrong for the spaces. I felt like I was being taken advantage of and lied to resulting in an extremely poor impression of the trustworthiness of this company. Therefore, I would NOT recommend "TJ's Custom Building and Remodeling" to anyone who is looking for honesty, reliability, credibility, and professionalism in their business practices.
