I have been a patient here for almost 10 years and Dr. Levine has enabled me to live a life after a horrible injury. My Mom sees Dr. Levine as well, and he has helped her get walking again. Dr. Levine is fantastic. I had a horrible experience at LA County hospital and had to rush to get adequate pain control after they basically kicked me out of the hospital (cause I hit some threshold) Dr. Levine took me on as a patient, straightened out my pain meds, and worked with me to find a combination of meds that worked for me. Some did, some didn't. I think this business' Yelp rating is skewed by negative reviews from people that failed drug tests and we're upset they didn't get heavy-duty narcotics. This is a legitimate doctor and practice, this isn't Florida. If you've got cocaine in your system by California law they can't give you heavy duty meds. Dr Levine is as professional as they come. He is scary-smart and knowledgeable about cutting-edge treatments. He suggested Ketamine treatments as an adjunct to my regular pain meds. That's pretty neat that it is an option. After 10 years, I trust him implicitly. He has proven himself- really what I want and need in a pain management doctor is someone who will use their judgement to help me find therapies to get me through my day. I was pretty messed up after my injury and I lead a normal life now, I go to school and have a girlfriend and a kid now. Dr Levine has helped me get my life back! Try not just giving up and work with him. He cares about his patients and their well-being. I cannot say enough good things about him. read more

I don't even have time to explain the number of problems I've had with this place. Being that the original doctor Khan seemed to be nice however, the way this business is run and the mistakes is very upsetting. Today I was five minutes late. I didn't have my drivers license, but I've checked in before it took three more minutes to figure out how to check in making me eight minutes late the receptionist was kind of rude and snotty said You are late you have to reschedule now I could not believe my ears. And I had to wait 15 minutes for her to come back and tell me that then handed me a bunch of papers from the doctor with referrals to physical therapy that I've already been sent to one through them three weeks ago. There are other endless mistakes These people have made. I would not recommend this place. read more

AVOID DR. KHAN AT ALL COSTS!! Whether it's in office or tele appointments she has the demeanor of everybody's beneath her, she doesnt give a damn about her patients and this is a waste of her time attitude towards her patients. Choose if you can ANY other doctor or nurse practitioner in this office. Ive NEVER endured such mistreatment from ANY other Dr or NO in this office in all the years I've been going. And also you won't get your medication, you WILL suffer because you will need a PA, you will call them, you will text them, you will send messages via the app and NO ONE will get back to you or do their job. I am now going on a almost a month with no medication, no return phone call & NO P.A DONE! This happens every month that I'm constantly having to tell them to do the PA that they know they have to do but never do it and I the patient suffer. I WILL be filing a grievance against Dr Khan because I'm getting really tired of being treated like crap because I'm a chronic pain patient and I'm apparently not worth her time to do her job. Been to this place a few times already and the receptionists are all lazy, RUDE, disrespectful to the patients. They are not helpful they don't answer thier phones- and oh don't speak to thier virtual assistants that are out the country if they don't know a answer they hang up on you they transfer you to know where they have no training or knowledge . Who ever is the office assitant here needs to revamping front office staff and virtual assistants. The doctors should be ashamed to have those people representing them. Synovation Medical Group is a joke. Azusa & Pasadena they're worse than the other. Mitchell at surgery center in Pasadena is unprofessional, rude and doesn't know anything about authorizations. It's been 1 month trying to get appointment for a shot, locations don't answer the phone. Somebody calls from call center, they tell you that you have the right authorization but they cannot get in touch with them or give appointment. Call center, Pasadena office, Azusa office and surgery centers they have no connection with each other. To deal with them is a nightmare. Waste of time, energy and you go in circles. I cannot thank the staff enough for their care. A huge thank you to Daniella Campos in Medical Records--she was absolutely terrific and so helpful with everything I needed today. I also want to give a very special thank you to the lady at the second-floor front desk. She has been sitting at that same desk for the last several years that I've been coming here, and she is always so polite and helpful. I am sure Synovation appreciates having an employee like her representing them at the front; she makes every visit better. Additionally, thank you to Janet, Dr. Corrado's assistant on the third floor. She has been great with coordinating between the doctor and my insurance, handling authorizations, and providing any other help I need. Horrible!! 0 stars! My mom took time off work, showed up early, could not find parking. Circled the area for 15 mins until a space freed up. This office made her reschedule without any sympathy for the inconvenience. There is no street parking and no one overseeing the parking lot. Of course there are non patients parking there and they do nothing about it. So we reschedule. Then what? This happens again? I don't think so. I came in with my mom for her occupational therapy appointment, and this review isn't about her provider but someone else on the same floor. I assume he's a provider since he had his own key to the restroom. It sounded like he was in the middle of a session with a patient and went into the restroom while the patient remained on speakerphone. I've been taking my mom to this facility for about two months now as recommended by her doctor for physical therapy. The facility itself is nice and clean, and they also keep social distancing in mind. Her therapist, Dr. Zurwa is really great. At my mother's first visit, Dr. Zurwa asked a ton of questions to see what specifically my mother wanted to take away from her therapy. Taking away one star as they messed up one of her appointments. Do not go to this facility. They are horrible with returning calls, being cordial, and truthful about their response. That said, you will NOT see a doctor but you will ONLY see a RN during your entire time. I had this neurotic / mentally imbalanced RN that has no business in this field. She would suggest a new concept, completely off the wall, which I would ask questions about what she is suggesting. She knew nothing about it nor any other hare-brained stupid suggestions going forward. She didn't like the fact I was challenging her suggestion and since she knew nothing about it I would decline. She used this type of interaction against me by reporting that I refused alternative treatment. Another one was Ketamine. She knew nothing about it but referred me for a consult which I did. I was told that I would have at least an hour consulting with the person who uses this powerful drug in an off-label method. He refused to answer any of my questions and the consult lasted less than 15-minutes. As a result of this extremely poor consultation, I declined this option. Again, she lied in her reports that I refused this alternative treatment. In fact, in my research, there was a shocking notation that if a certain medication was taken in conjunction with Ketamine, there was a high chance of COMA or DEATH. Since I was taking this other medication I wanted an answer to this question but I didn't get any response and it was handled like it was not a big deal. Really! I was a patient at this facility for 14-years+ as a result of a near death injury. I was initially treated by a RN for the first 6-years who was great but she left Synovation. Then I got this scatter-brain idiot who I ended up conducting and managing my appointments, medication authorizations, appointment authorizations, etc. She would tell me that the authorizations are handled when nothing was done or the form was incorrectly filled out which resulted in countless times of no medication(s) for weeks on end. It got to a point where she was screaming at me, berating, condescending, and all things UNPROFESSIONAL. She is psychotic, a liar, and should not be treating patients with severe / chronic pain as she has no empathy or knowledge how to properly treat or handle patients without this persistent screaming, threats, and very unprofessional manner. Patients with severe pain only want to function with some day-to-day relative normalcy. She only looks at it from the perspective of 'self preservation' to protect her license. If you haven't learned of the MME calculation, you need to add this to your management items because it is abused and used against you. The MME is 'Morphine Management Equivalent' which is the CDC's suggestion / recommendation. It's a point system for any opioid medications you may be prescribed. She would refer to this MME as an absolute and inflexible reference when it is only a recommendation. Someone came up with an MME total of 90/day. I had to remind her that I did not prescribe the medication to myself as if I used her prescription pad. It didn't matter what I said to her. Each appointment got more psychotic and unprofessional that I began to push back and not take her crap. That was the trap she set and in a very unfair, unprofessional, and brutal fashion she abandoned me. Terminated my care, gave me one month of medication and kicked me to the curb. No official reason given at all. I have never failed a drug test, nor requested additional medications or early refills; nor any issue within Synovation's 'Informed Consent Form' was breached by me. Now, 4-months later, I have gone through hell, sudden stoppage of all medication, been in and out of the hospital and still have yet to see any other provider for treatment. Everything that is noted in their 'Consent Form' with regard to termination was NOT followed. Lastly, I requested a copy of ALL of my medical records. After waiting over a month, my Primary Doctor received only the last (3) appointments. Not 14-years of records. After 2-months+ I finally got through to the correct department without being disconnected. I was able to get the past 10-years of records emailed to me while on the phone. I also requested all the records mailed to me. It took so long because Dr. Psycho tainted my name throughout the facility preventing me from seeing any other provider within Synovation, if I called in to speak with someone the call was terminated. Basically, she tagged me as a bad person and not allowed to speak to anyone. That's all. If you don't understand my lengthy message and to stay away from this place, I hope it creates doubt within your mind and to proceed cautiously. read more

The bottom of the barrel ratings for this practice are a long running San Gabriel Valley institution. The front office staff are an endless stream of surly "not-my-job"ers. Some even love to antagonize patients, like the as wide as is tall Pac N'West type I encountered recently. The first two times I went, I was in a lot of pain, and they just prescribed muscle relaxers. One of which could have killed me if I took it while taking Norco. Then I was told to take an MRI and the same day I was supposed to discuss the results and have therapy, the doctor blew me off with a so-called telehealth visit instead of a real visit. My insurance is paying them for physical therapy and complex evaluation. None of which can be achieved over the phone. This place sucks!!! read more

I've never experienced such unprofessionalism from medical staff as I did at this office. The attitude toward patients is incredibly rude, making you feel like you're being looked down upon. Today, I called to share information about my injection results, and the medical assistant who answered was immediately hostile. When I politely asked, 'Do you understand what I'm talking about?' she became defensive, claiming she's 'not dumb' and accusing me of treating her that way. I believe that as a medical assistant, she should stay alert and knowledgeable instead of projecting insecurities onto patients. She sounded annoyed from the start. She seemed completely lost about what I was referring to and even made some frustrating sounds, which only added to the impression that my concerns weren't valued. The only person who treats you with respect and compassion here is Nurse Katherine Greenwalt. She's attentive and genuinely makes you feel like a human being rather than just another patient. I get a call the evening before saying the appointment is canceled because the provider has been out of the office for over 2 weeks and won't be coming back soon. This is a pain management office, people only come here if they are in intolerable pain and these people thought the best time to cancel is the evening before, when they've known for over a month that the provider with whom the appointment is with is gone. Dr. Levine has literally changed my life for the better. I have been a patient at Synovation for several years, and the treatment I have received has improved my quality of life so much. Dr. Levine has always been very validating and compassionate and is always willing to investigate why something might feel a certain way. He has sent me to various specialists and physical therapists over the years who have also helped me significantly. I would not be able to do the things I can do today without the treatment I have received from him at Synovation. It may take a while to get in as a new patient, but they really do care and try to help as much as they can. I usually schedule my monthly appointments two months in advance so that I could get the appointment times I wanted. read more

The billing department doesn't return calls and calls from voicemails. You can only reach a live person if you call before 8:30 am which is still rare! Monica the billing mngr has terrible customer service skills! The lady With the bleached blonde hair, Christine is very rude! They've gotten rid of most of the staff that books appointments but they really need to exchange these two also! Probably the worst place to ever get treatment, to the point where you could probably file a lawsuit against their discriminatory and abusive practices, and win. This location needs to be shut down in order to maintain the decency of the overall name of the Synovation Medical Group. People who work in a medical office should treat patients as PEOPLE WHO ARE SICK. They do not treat you with compassion or even like a human. A relative of mine who visited recently was having chest pains and neared a heart attack due to the absolute degenerate behavior of a girl named "Jennifer" (probably not her real name, because she also listed three different names - Jennifer, Miranda and Jessica). When my relative vocalized she was having chest pains, the girls behind the counter just crossed their arms and watched my relative, saying, "Well, you were late." They also told my relative that they "prioritized new patients" and "since she was an old patient, she would have to wait". They berated her for coming at 2:16 p.m., even though they said her appointment cut-off was at 2:15 p.m., but at that time, she was still waiting to be checked in. To Jessica, Jennifer, and Miranda: I want to tell you all three because you refuse to take phone calls (don't worry, we've already filed a complaint to Blueshield and Synovation) that your treatment of my relative is absolutely unacceptable. The fact that you treat sick patients like this shows how you treat others in real life. This medical group is a joke, find another pain management group that actually cares. The Pasadena office does not return calls and does not care about their patients. Synovation is responsible for my mother being admitted into the hospital because her pain was so unbearable that it also caused her heart rate to elevate. This medical group has treated my mother like a paycheck. What happened to compassion and care for the sick and elderly. Oh I know, money. It's important that I'm wearing a mask. I got multiple reminders to mask up, both in communications from facility AND multiple signs on way up to office. But the receptionist isn't. Got to dial in 2 different ratings here....I'll start with the not so great & the last one will be about the rock star OT Beverly Wike. 5 stars for Beverly!!!! My first rating focuses on the horrific wait times, delayed or non existent "returned phone calls" (according to "Jane" all calls are always returned & prompt). Since the beginning of my adventure with Synovation the call center journey has been horrific. Up to 2.5 hrs on hold, dropped calls or just forgotten about through lunch time. Lots of misinformation from call centers that are not connected to the local office/community. I was suppose to see an OT & when I scheduled my very first intake the call center had set me up for a PT appointment. From here it has been down hill. I call & leave messages to schedule an appointment, no return calls to set one up. Yet the best misadventure with Synovation to date occurred today. Last week when I complained about the call center and all its madness, I asked for a supervisor that I could connect with, that is how I met "Jane". This afternoon after I called synovation to see why nobody had contacted me about setting up an appointment, I decided it was time to connect with Jane in hopes of bringing light the various debacles that the call center has created for me & possibly others. Little did I know that Jane would be so unprofessional, inconsiderate, reactionary & condescending. She interrupted me mid sentence to insert her perspective of what really happened...(funny she was never on any of the calls, except for when I called her today). Jane went on to imply that I was lying about not being called back, she insisted in a very passive-aggressive manner that the call center always returns all calls. In trying to engage with some civil dialog, it seemed that Jane couldn't find her "listening ears or her lip clip" She seemed more focused on telling me things I knew where just not true, based at least on my 5 different call center experiences. I asked Jane to just try & think about how call centers don't personalize a clients experience & that she & the other "higher ups" including the owner should think more about the people who come to their many facilities over the profit they can make by cutting corners and out sourcing to call centers. I shared with Jane that before Synovation open more spaces up in other parts of California or the U.S., they should figure out their customer service goals first. I think it is simple, People not Profit! After today's interaction with Synovations supervisor Jane, I see that they prefer Profit over People. I hope ya all never have to meet or sort anything out with Jane or the call center while dealing with synovation. I'm taking this time to write what kind of nurse practitioner she is and how she deals with her patients, or at least how she dealt with me. ==================================== I have arthritis in both my knees and both my hips, as you know arthritis is a disease that does not get better. You must go through a knee replacement, and a hip replacement in order for it to get better. And then sometimes you are still in pain after the operation, and you healing ==================================== For some reason, gave me an extremely hard time when it came down to getting pain medicine. For some reason, I think she thought I wanted to be a drug addict at 71 years old. I understand she's there to help me she caused me more HELL than help. =================== I found out in 2019 that I had arthritis, I was not going in any hospital in 2020, or 2021 because of Covid 19. That gave my arthritis a chance to get a lot worse. I had one hip done in 2022 and one knee done in 2023. I am still in pain because I need more operations, but you cannot get them all together. I just found out I have I Osteoporosis ===================================== I have a daughter who is blind and in a wheelchair. So I have to tend to her every day and take care of myself every day. You have to work out in order to stay strong at 70 years old or you lose your muscle mass. That takes pain medicine to help me every day, for a while. ==================================== I also need to work, she refused to give me enough pain medicine so I could go through my day-to-day routine. My routine is not over at 5 o'clock. I still have to cook and take care of my daughter then exercise to keep my house in order, so it doesn't look like a pigsty. ================================== She was horrible to me she left on a vacation and left me without my pain medicine. =================================== I'm supposed to see her every 30 days or talk to her over the phone. She made a appointment for me past 30 days, which means that I would be in pain after 30 days without my pain medicine ===================================== treated me like I was a drug addict, not like a patient with a progressive disease that gets worse and worse. She told me last month that she was going to cut my pain medicine after I told her I had Osteoporosis, and all she had to do was look at the MRI or the x-ray because I definitely need to work out more to keep my bones strong. ==================================== You need pain medicine to work out, especially if you have weak bones and arthritis. I even tried to work with her to show her I will try other pain medicines. I told her Tylenol with Codeine does not work well on me. I took that for a number of months. I finally had to tell her I'm not taking it anymore and it's not working, and I cannot function on it and take care of my daughter and my daily tasks. ===================================== Then she gave me another kind of medicine that did not work at all on me I took that for a number of months and finally put my foot down and told her I'm not taking it anymore; you have to give me something that works. She fought with me every month over my pain medicine. WHY WHEN I HAVE A PROGRESSIVE DISEASE? ===================================== I have to make sure that I get stronger and stay stronger for my disabled daughter, and for myself, she refused to help me. ===================================== I heard this complaint from so many other people that need pain medicine. I understand what happened with opioid addiction. I'm not going to let you take that out on me. Orah Mahtov was supposed to help me, she hurt me and my life. I cannot get a job on two pain pills a day, take care my disabled daughter, work out, and clean my house. ===================================== The only time she gave me the medicine that I needed was when I had my knee replaced a few months ago then she told me she was going to cut the pain medicine as if I was healed, and I didn't have another knee that needed a replacement, or another hip and Osteoporosis in my back that causes me severe back pain now. ===================================== I took the time to write this because I want people to know how she affected my life in a horrible way. She really acted like I was a drug addict just trying to get drugs AT 71 YEARS OLD. As you can see arthritis was coursing through my body, and my bones are getting weaker by the day, mainly in my back, and hips now. ===================================== I understand I'm not going to get rid of all this pain through pain medicine. I have been going to PT, and doing everything else that my PCP had asked me to do and nothing helped so he referred me to the Synovation medical group to get the shot... They scheduled me for an appointment but not for the shot itself... And they transferred me to the front desk and a woman named Malina hung up on me after being on the phone for an hour waiting... She literally hung up on me... I am a patient... That is no way to treat a patient... That's who pays the bills... I really can't believe she hung up on me... ***I think I'm in love*** The good news? He is a doctor. The bad news? He is married. I met with Dr. Reed Levine for a consultation today at The Pasadena Rehabilitation Institute. I was referred to him after a brief stay at Huntington Memorial hospital for diagnostics. Dr. Levine is to medicine, what D'Angelo is to a microphone, what Timbaland is to the beat and what the Los Angeles Lakers are to a basketball court. I am more used to doctors that are to medicine what 'vocoder' is to music. What 'Hometown buffet" is for gastronomy. And what "Kim Kardashian" is for talent. Maybe you are too. I *Googled* him as soon as I got home just like I do with all my medical crushes, and so should you. Some highlights: Dr Levine graduated from NYU School of Medicine, completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Yale, and did his residency in neurology at USC. His accolades, awards and credits are too many to list. He has been published in Time magazine and the Huffington Post. *swoon* He is overqualified for almost any medical position. Which is why I expect to see the Dalae Lama and Obama waiting for a consultation from him. But no. Plain 'ol me walks in with a wait time of zero minutes before being greeted by his firm handshake. How long have you waited to see a specialist before? How many doctors, in your career as a patient, have actually SMILED upon meeting you? Taken the time to actually TALK to you? Are you as sick as I am of being shuffled in and out of their offices like cattle stinking of MAD COW disease? Not here friends. Whether your bones have been in numerous car accidents, or like mine, just look like it under x ray, this review is for you. Seeing orthopedists and-the-like is embarrassing for me. I told Dr. Levine why I have had so many broken bones, surgeries and scars. On the hands, wrists, elbows, shoulder blades, rear of the skull and tailbone. I do a mock fetal position to demonstrate. "Concerned, he asks me how I am smiling. I assure him that I have had therapy. His background in neurology is a blessing in my case. He knows the details of my brain surgery and takes the spectrum of my injuries and history into account when testing my strength and reflexes. Smart, bright and instinctive, his questions are quick and tailored for me. My history and complaints have him pointing to a place in my spine the size of a pea. I was sent to Synovation and my doctor there has been Dr. Reed Levine. From the very star, Dr. Levine far surpasses any of the other pain management specialists I have encountered. He is exceptionally kind and perceptive. He has a great "bedside" manner and listens very carefully to his patients in a manner most doctors in the Workman Comp system do not. He has excellent diagnostic skills as well as being thoroughly versed in not just traditional approaches to mitigating pain, but also the cutting edge of patient care and new developments in the ongoing expan of new technologies and techniques for treatment. He impressed me when he treated my wife, but having him as my doctor, I have found Dr. Levine to excel at all aspects of his speciality. I have been coming to this facility to see Dr. Levin for about 8 years maybe more. He and his staff are courteous and very detail orientated when it comes to your healthcare. We have worked all the way from physical therapy to noninvasive procedures that have eliminated the need to take pain medication at all!! Yes I said it!! No pain meds and able to live a normal life. I have also had procedures done with Doctor Levin at the Pasadena Surgery Center conveniently located right below their office and they too are awesome. Sheila, their anesthesiologist has been my primary in the procedure room with Dr. Levine for at least 6 years as well. thank you all for continuing to help us in pain. Dr Levine is fantastic. I have been seeing him for over a decade and he has given me my life back after I suffered a crazy injury. Synovation is as professional as they get, this isn't some Florida pain clinic. The people in this office have helped me live a life and not be bedridden with pain. A place who very clearly doesn't care about its patients. I'm typically a very patient person. I understand a mistake here and there. I really wish I read reviews before choosing this place for physical therapy. I've had lower back pain for a very long time. It's taken me months to get foot in the door. My doctor sent a referral for Synovation Medical Group in Pasadena. The minute I stepped in, I heard someone complaining loudly about their appointment time being messed up. I didn't pay much attention to it. I was also assuming my first appointment would be physical therapy. It wasn't. I met with the doctor here to describe all the same symptoms I already had explained to my general practitioner. After an x-ray, a referral, a meeting with the doctor here, I finally started physical therapy. I went once. It wasn't much. My therapist showed me a few stretches and sent me on my way. I kept an open mind and assumed the first session is mostly a meet and greet and get to know the patient. It took forever to start sessions here, I'm in pain. So I made an appointment for the second session. Second time around. I had an 8am appointment on a Friday. I arrive on-time. They 'forgot' I have an appointment. Reading the reviews I see this has happened before. The woman at the front desk, was completely unapologetic. She didn't apologize . She blamed their 'new system,' and a scheduling change. Take three - I should be going onto my 3rd therapy session, or my second rescheduled one and I get a phone call to reschedule. Something about the therapist having to be in surgery. I work. I have a life. I have planned my day around this. They don't seem to care one bit. I told them this is unfair. They forgot about my schedule last week, and I am being asked to once again accommodate their 'system change.' The woman on the phone rudely said "We didn't forget about you I told you we have a new system, well I'm calling to change your schedule." Giving me no choice. I should have had 3 sessions by now but I barely had one intro session. I asked them to cancel my appointment and I've asked my doctor for a new referral. I'd rather start over at a new place than deal with being toyed around by a staff who does not care about its patients. read more

Hands down the worst physical therapy experience I've ever had. 4 months and no improvement because it turns out I've been doing the exercises wrong and my pt never told me. Oh, and they do have a therapy pool, but good luck trying to get hydro therapy! I highly suggest you avoid this place. I also saw a NP for pain management and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had, she didn't listen to me, talked over me, and didn't understand what lupus is, which is my main disease. My son has been treating with Dr. Levine for years for his chronic migraine headaches. I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Levine. So with this in mind, I told my boyfriend to secure a referral, knowing the other doctors are also good. He was given an appointment with a new physician, Dr. Khoslav. Dr. Khoslav had him sign a drug contract and then told my boyfriend who has a failed back surgery, he would not intervene as to providing pain medicine. He told my boyfriend to go to his primary care physician for medication, a direct violation of the drug contract. When my boyfriend called to secure pain medicine because his primary physician initially said no, Dr. Khoslav screamed he hadn't even decided to take my boyfriend on as a patient. This doctor is dumber than a bag of rocks, so why have someone sign a drug contract if you aren't going to treat them and accept them as a patient. We called Synovation and advised that due to the unprofessional and illogical behavior of Dr. Khoslav we wanted to transfer to Dr. Levine or perhaps Dr. Z or Seltzer. We were told a transfer of care must be approved. We assumed it had to be approved by the insurance company, oh no. It was denied by the Synovation office manager with no discussion with us as to why the transfer was necessary. Since when does an office manager, a non- medical professional determine whether or not a physician- patient relationship is workable. So I left a message for Dr. Levine to see if we can work our way around this. If not, we will find another pain management provider who isn't rude and illogical. Do not see Dr. Khoslav EVER. read more
