I was in town and needed my nails done at the last minute, so I picked this salon because it had…read morealmost 5 stars and a ton of positive reviews. After my appointment, I went back and read the negative reviews, and honestly, those matched my experience much more closely. The first red flag was that I walked in to ask about pricing, then left to think about it, and one of the employees actually came out into the parking lot to convince me to come back. That immediately felt off. The second red flag was that I asked for almond-shaped acrylics, and the technician immediately started putting tips on without ever asking what length I wanted. He just assumed I wanted them short. By that point I was already committed, so I just went with it. As the service went on, I also noticed the salon wasn't as clean as I would expect. There were leftover decorations up and everything was just dirty and had stains on it, and debris around the work area, and it just didn't give me a great feeling. To be fair, the pedicure came out really nice. They opened what appeared to be a sealed pack of sanitized tools, which I appreciated, and I'm happy with how my toes turned out. The acrylic nails, though, were another story. The technician left noticeable gaps between the acrylic and my cuticles, as well as along the sides of my nails. They're also extremely thick. My boyfriend, who normally doesn't notice nails at all, actually asked if they were press-ons because they looked so bulky and fake. It's only been about a week, and because of the large gap near the cuticle, they already look like they've grown out for several weeks. I know sometimes a last-minute appointment is all you can get, and that's why I stayed. But if I could do it over again, I would have gone somewhere else. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this salon based on my experience.

The last issue happened last week, but I waited until today to write about it. I wanted to sit with my emotions and see if it still bothered me. It does. The salon is nice, and I can see they've tried to renovate it, but I wouldn't call it 100% accommodating. The bathroom and baseboards still look old, and the chairs don't have a massage feature. I notice details that other people might not, but none of that was a reason for me to stop coming. I told them from the beginning that I'm picky. I'm polite, but I know what I want and always tell nail salons upfront. I've been getting my nails done since I was 15, and I'm 45 now. My nails are thin and brittle, and psoriasis affects how they look. Sometimes they can look like they might have fungus, but that's what psoriasis does to my nails. I need a technician who understands that. My first appointment went well. I really liked my pedicure and the woman who did it. She's a sweetheart. The nail technician is nice and does a good job, though she has a strong personality that can come across as a little rude. I have a strong personality too, so I gave it a chance. Both technicians are fast, which I love because I travel a lot for work and don't want to spend hours in a nail salon. A full set and pedicure took about an hour and 15 minutes. Both looked cute, and I got what I wanted. About a month later, I called and asked for a fill. When I arrived, the nail technician started removing my nails. She then told me that next time we should do a fill because my nails are so brittle. I told her I had asked for a fill when I called, and that she'd said she would decide whether to remove them once she saw them. She told me that regardless of what I say on the phone, I should discuss what we agreed on directly with her when I come in. I said okay, but I also wondered why my request hadn't been communicated to her. That's part of having a receptionist. I was irritated, but my second full set and pedicure looked good, so I decided to come back. At my next visit, she removed the polish, saw that the nails underneath didn't look good, and decided to take the set off. I also switched from an oval shape to a shorter, simpler coffin shape. The next day, the color started chipping. My sister said that can happen with a solid color using gelx, but I was about to leave the country for work and wanted my nails to look professional. I called the salon, explained the chipping, and asked to come in to fix it. I offered to pay. The person on the phone insisted there would be no charge and booked me. I even asked if she was sure, and she said yes. I want to emphasize that I offered to pay because I value people's work. When I came in, they saw me fairly quickly. Nobody mentioned a charge before or during the appointment. At the end, the nail technician told me it would be $35. I paid and gave her a $7 tip. I wasn't going to change my character over it, but I was irritated. I don't know whether the receptionist failed to tell the technician what she'd promised. My issue isn't paying, I offered to do that from the beginning. My issue is being told repeatedly that I wouldn't be charged, then being charged without an explanation or apology. My nails had been done less than 9 days earlier, and she changed the color and reshaped them. Even if they wanted to charge me, they could have told me beforehand or acknowledged the miscommunication. Nobody did. I've run businesses for years, and transparency matters to me. If a client explains what they need to the receptionist, that information should reach the technician. This was the second time something I'd discussed on the phone didn't seem to be communicated. In my experience, the front desk came across as disengaged, and the communication was mediocre. I'm not naming anyone because I don't want to put anyone on blast. I hope the salon takes this as a lesson. The nails looked nice, the woman who does my pedicures is lovely, and the nail technician is quick and does good work. My biggest issue is the salon's internal communication, which shouldn't be the client's responsibility. Thank you for the services, but I won't be back.

But, the whole time talking in Vietnamese, it is so rude. The Pedicure was ok. Paid $130 plus, generous tip to 3 People which I wasn't expecting. Go home, next day go to beach, and ALL my polish chipped, 1 nail chipped, UGH. I had a party to go after, so filed them down since couldn't paint.. Called the next day, Owner said to come in, told her after my eyelash appt., I get there, offered to repolish and fix was treated pretty badly again, never fixed the chipped nail which caused fungus a few days later ) . Talking about me in Vietnamese. Several people trying to polish, owner had to do a Deep French, I corrected her this time, added more designs, each time given an bad attitude even though I told them I was Paying for it! Then, the Owner, RUDELY yells across the room I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO CALL FIRST BEFORE YOU CAME IN, I was so embarrassed, a full salon & workers. I go to Matthew for color, cut and my Brazilian Blowout. What I love about him is he listens to exactly what I'm looking for and makes me feel comfortable with what he is doing. Other hair stylists I've been to in the past, hear what I want, then give me what they think I want. It was very frustrating, but this never happens with Matthew. I have very long hair and he understands when I tell him I want a "trim" and still want to keep my length exactly how to cut it to make me happy and keep my hair healthy. He also gives the best blow dry I've ever had! He does this signature round brush technique that not only make you feel like a model, but leaves your hair smooth with amazing volume. Every time I leave his chair I look and feel my best. Its great to have finally found someone who I can trust, I will definitely be his loyal client for years to come. read more

Davin is a doll! Not only is he super sweet and friendly, but he does an amazing job with my hair every time. I'm usually not chatty in the chair. I tend to just zone out and let the stylist do their thing. But Davin is so easy to talk to and such an genuine person. If you have thick hair, he knows your pain and knows how cut it in such a way that it's easy to style and looks great without much effort. He recommends products based on your daily routine as well as your hair and scalp needs. And he taught me how to curl my hair with my straight iron. I was extremely pleased with the service I had with Stacy Hewett for a mani/pedi! I had an expired coupon for a mani/pedi for only $29.00 (normally $60.00) I had already paid the $29.00 and thought that was simply going to be accepted as credit towards the $60.00; however, Stacy not only accepted the expired coupon, but she actually didn't charge me anything additional!! More importantly, I felt like the quality of mani/pedi I received was far superior to those I've gotten at other salons because Stacy took a lot of time to educate and explain proper nail care not just in the salon but also at home. One of my best friends was getting married in Anaheim, and I thought to myself, I should probably get a haircut to look presentable for his pictures. The night before the wedding, I walked into The Plaza Salon because it was right next door to the venue, and there, I met Fawzeya. I asked her a million questions because I had no idea what type of cut I needed. She told me she could fit me into her schedule 2 hours before pictures. Nervously, I confirmed. When I arrived 15 minutes late (my fault), Fawzeya was nothing but super friendly and professional. She asked me how I wanted my cut, and I said "you're the pro, just make me look good please". I'm not sure of the exact number of years of experience she told me she has, but I think she told me 42 years, she must've started when she was an infant. I'm so glad that she was able to fit me into her schedule because the wedding photos were beautiful, my hair feels great, and everyone is still telling me how amazing it looks! I live in San Jose so the salon, and Fawzeya are 6 hours away in Anaheim, but next time I'm in southern California, I will surely make an appointment with Fawzeya. Thanks again!

For example, If I had an appointment on Friday at noon she would text and change it to 3pm or 5pm. This happened often. One time, I over booked appointments and I texted her if we could change the noon to 2? She texted back and stated, "I can't do it. Let's do it next week?" WOW, I waited a whole week to get my haircut. I dealt with her changing times and the one time I do it, she can't do it. Recently, I had an appointment for 5:30pm on a Tuesday. She texted me Monday night at almost 9pm and canceled stating, "Maybe next week?" It has now been 2 weeks and she is ignoring my texts and never contacted me for the haircut. I will take my $190.00 for a short haircut and color somewhere else to a place with someone that is professional.

Her work is amazing enough that I have referred many friends that still to this day use her services and can't thank me enough for the great referral. I cannot say enough good things about her as a person and more so of her hairdressing style. She pays close attention to your wants and you walk out with more than you expected. The best part is she makes your stay enjoyable with so many laughs. She has the best personality and a heart of gold. I have followed Sunhee from her various locations that SHE has chosen to leave on her own. She has NEVER over charged me or any of my friends that I have referred, and has always been up front about what it entails to get the results we are looking for. This leave in is heavy in protein which also caused my hair to have protein overload as of the reply my appointment was made under my mom's name she's been going to this salon for years. The product was in a white bottle I'm not sure of the name because I threw it away. It had some type of yellow and black writing on it.
