One thing I really appreciate is that she even washes your hair after the cut just to check if everything is perfect, which not every men's salon does. I've been coming to Lotus Salon consistently every month ever since I moved to Orange last year. The owner -- Goi -- is the best! She is very detail-oriented and truly cares about the final product of your hair. She listens, takes her time, and is a joy to talk to. I've gotten to know her better over my visits and she's super personable, friendly, and kind. I sometimes have different requests for my hair and she always delivers what I'm looking for. I even recently got married and visited Goi a few days before my wedding to make sure I looked just right. My hair came out perfectly! $18 for men's haircut, which is a great price considering Goi really does an amazing job and includes a hair wash. Just got my haircut here today and I was blown away. Scheduling was a cinch. I sent a text, confirmed a date and time, and we were all set. As for the haircut, Mrs. Goi is a perfectionist. She takes her time to make sure you're happy with it and also that she's happy with it, going through and finding/cutting any stray hairs, double checking the final product. And while doing it well, she's also very efficient, getting the job done reasonably fast. With a shampoo wash included at the end, I was honestly surprised by the bill. It was easy to schedule an appointment with her the first time. She did a nice job at cutting my long hair and for $18 it was more than reasonable. I gave her a 67% tip for a job well done. The second time I texted her for an appointment, she responded right away and told me she remembered me because she 'liked' me. It was great! We were having great talks and everything went smoothly. I tipped her 40% (because I realized I might have overtipped a little last time), which was more than good I had assumed. However, I texted her a couple of months ago asking for an appointment, and got no response. I was surprised that she didn't even reply considering how fast the replies came the first two times. Fast forward to two months later, I tried again and sent her a text asking for an appointment. I even called but it rang for a while and got disconnected. No chance to even leave a voicemail. I had this feeling that my texts/call were getting ignored on purpose, so I asked my boyfriend to send a text asking for an appointment. Lo and behold, she responded to his text (even called him) and not mine. So there you have it. I guess if she doesn't want to take my appointment anymore, MAYBE she should be courteous enough to be straight about it? I guess I can take a hint, but this is a professional business is it not? Its not like I was a difficult customer. I came in both times asking for a nice trim and told her many times I trusted her, didn't have any complaints whatsoever. She didn't even wash, style, or blow dry my hair like other salons do so I assume $18 with a 40% tip was more than reasonable of me to pay, right? She did tell me that she cuts hair for men more often than women, so maybe she doesn't feel too comfortable cutting women's hair anymore? I'm just utterly confused. One of my top two favorite places to get a cut. Only one employee, the owner. This very small salon is ultra modern and stylish. The owner gives 100% attention and turns others away when she is too busy. She wont make you wait an hour. I suggest calling in advance and making an appointment. She knows her stufff and her style is reflected in her own hair which she does her self. The store has modern trendy hair style mags and even has a current Japanese magazine you can browse. The best part, it is not very expensive. This is a place you would expect to see in a more trendy place than it is and is bringing much attention to this part of Old Town Orange with Modern Style! After moving to the area, I was in search of a new hair stylist. I stumbled upon Lotus Salon through yelp. I called to try and book an appointment, but she didn't answer. She called me back a few minutes later, and we locked in a time. When I got to her salon, I understood why she wasn't able to answer. Goi is the only person working here, and she pays attention to her clients who are in front of her first and foremost. I found out during my haircut that it's much easier to just text with her to book an appointment, and have been doing that ever since. Goi does a GREAT job with mens hair! She's very quick and efficient with her cutting, and can often get me in and out in about 30 or 40 minutes. I've gone back to her a handful of times since I first started coming here, and she remembers what I want. She's very nice and conversational with her clients, which I appreciate because it makes the time go by faster. Her prices are very affordable, almost on the cusp of being too cheap! I can tell her core audience is college students, but looking at the reviews, you'll see a lot of customers who keep coming here even after they graduate. After six loyal years of haircuts from Ms. Goi, I guess I have to find another barber because she is not acknowledging me. I haven't the slightest clue as to why she decided to ignore me (I was paying full price +tip), but this type of behavior is quite unprofessional as well as unexpected. Scheduling appointments couldn't be easier and I've never gotten a bad haircut -- she's an absolute perfectionist and always double checks her work at the end, fixing any stray hairs or minute imperfections, then makes sure to confirm that you're satisfied before moving on to the next customer. On top of that, she's a great conversationalist and never fails to brighten my day with an observation or anecdote. I first checked out Lotus Salon when I had an awkward pixie cut, and still didn't know what to do with it. I made an appointment with Goi and drove down to Orange. #firstworldproblem: As a girl with a pixie cut, it's difficult to find a haircutter that can help you reach that loosely tousled, not quite feminine, but not quite masculine pixie. Sometimes it'll end up too short, too long in the front, you get the idea. But Goi gives excellent fades, textures hair well, and I have stuck with her ever since. Since this quaint place is right next to Chapman/the Circle and a one-woman show, you can expect that she receives a lot of business. Thus, it is appointment only. Also, she only takes cash. Her prices are super affordable, being next to the college. Last I visited (a few weeks ago) the prices were: -$15 -$13 (with student ID) That being said, make sure to tip her. Every time I've visited, she's been very accommodating and very friendly. Like any good hairstylist, she is detail-oriented, right down to the centimeter. She'll take her time (visits are around 45 minutes to an hour) to sure you're satisfied with your cut and also makes great conversation. I'm growing my hair out now, and I'm still visiting her for advice and trims. With her prices, precision, and skill I'll be going to Lotus for a very long time. read more

This place is AMAZING. Take note it's just one tiny women perfecting your haircut till you are satisfied. Not only is she a perfectionist hands down, but great person to talk to. As you can see from the previous reviews it is a must! It has to be done by appointment during the school year, since a lot of students love coming here. You pay $12 students as a student for a 45min - 1 Hour haircut plus she washes your hair! Can you believe that, she actually washes your hair to make sure you don't have tiny pieces leftover. You do not have to shower immediately afterwards as I did for most of my other places I've been to. If somebody comes in while cutting your hair, she will STILL take her time, she does not feel rushed what so ever, which most people do to just get as much $$ as possible. Such an awesome deal for a haircut. I'm a freshman at Chapman and I was worried about finding an affordable good haircut but little did I know this small asian woman was going to spend one hour every four weeks making me look doooppee. She spend almost an hour on my haircut and kept cracking these irrevent jokes that catch you off guard so be ready. If you are laid back and easy going she'll be a total homie. I've been going here since this place opened my freshman year at Chapman University, and now that I'm graduating soon, I know I'll miss it! The place is nice and clean, and really small. There's only one worker (the owner) and she is the nicest person in the world. Nowdays, she is pretty busy because she gets a lot of students from Chapman, so it's worth it to call in beforehand. I've gone through a few different hairstyles over the past few years and she has helped me pick them and try new things. Even though I'm a guy, and normally men's haircuts take 30 minutes or less, she blocks off an 45 minutes to an hour to cut my hair. She is a perfectionist, and even though it takes a long time, I feel like it's an excellent quality for her to have! She is very careful and always wants to make sure you're okay and like your haircut. Every time I leave, she says that if I decide I don't like it over the next couple days, I can come back for no charge. Come to think of it...I've never seen a girl get her haircut here. Anyway... I'm not very picky when it comes to haircuts: my usual MO is a neat, easy to maintain short haircut. But I was really impressed with my hair after visiting here. When I walked in the salon, the owner was already attending to another customer. I was afraid that I would have to make an appointment and come back later, but the owner politely said that she would get to me next and that I could wait. I've never been great with scheduling haircut appointments, and I was happy that I could be seen that day. It took a little while for her to finish, but the wait was worth it. I've never been concerned or very impressed with my hair, but I really liked the cut that I received. The owner took her time with my hair (as mentioned in other reviews here), and it felt like I was getting a precise, well done haircut that looked great when it was done. Then came time for the bill. I mentioned to the owner that I was a student (not at Chapman, but at a CSU), and she gave me the student rate which was much cheaper than most barber shops for a better haircut. I love going to Goi to get my undercut trimmed, it is so easy and she is always so friendly and attentive. I usually call a day or two in advance, sometimes day of if i'm lucky, to get an appointment but this is of course for a pretty quick shave. It's super convenient being so close to campus as a Chapman student and pretty economical too. Went in for a trim on a Saturday. I parked along the street across from the salon in the 30 minute parking section, which is essentially how long I was in there. I was greeted by the stylist as soon as I walked in. She's a very sweet lady, who made sure she understood exactly what I wanted to do with my hair. I am a female with long hair with lots of split ends. I asked her to cut the split ends off and do whatever she could to make my hair look healthier and more voluminous.
