Synergy provided home health aides for my dad who suffered from dementia and old age. They were the only agency I could find that would provide 1 hour of care per day, which is all we needed (diaper change, towel bath, tooth brushing). I appreciated their flexibility and responsiveness. The caregivers were good as well. When we preferred someone different, they offered options. We used them for over a year. The only small negatives were a few miscommunications, but nothing major. I recommend them for home care! read more

We recently moved my mom to The Lodge at Mallard's landing in Gig Harbor from Florida. It has been a difficult transition and we realized that she needed more help than she was receiving. When I learned my partner was being released from the hospital earlier than the expected discharge date, I called Synergy and Olga met me at the hospital within 24 hours to meet my partner and learn what his needs would be following his stroke. By the time he was discharged 3 days later, she had a care giver lined up for the daily hours requested. Synergy's communication, availability and flexibility were at all times great. I can speak highly enough about their scheduling flexibility as I learned this is a very fluid situation with things changing frequently. The vital chemistry between a patient and care giver is perhaps more important than simply providing a care giver who can handle mundane daily tasks and errands. Synergy did a marvelous job of meeting our requested skills set of: interest, patience, language, safety and biographical preferences. Unlike other agencies whose caregivers were not expected to provide socialization and transportation, Synergy excelled at providing us with those who were capable and willing. In addition, they proved to be attentive and dependable as well as creative when needed. We found our time with Synergy to be very positive and well-rounded from both sides- administrative and hands on. Having experienced home care in different states for the last 25 years. I've noticed a great deal of difference in the quality of care within the vast variety of agencies. Some agencies are interested in providing consistent quality care to their clients but drop the ball with a lack of consideration for there care givers. This ultimately,always shows up, before long, resulting in unhappy attitudes, in the home workplace. Thus ultimately resulting in a more rapid turnover of care givers as they leave for happier work environments. My husband, interested in non-hospice palliative care for his mom, asked me to reach out to Synergy about their services. I reached out to them, told them that I was looking for community-based palliative care. They could have just told me that they didn't provide it. They provide individual caregiving, something that we are also interested in. Instead, I received a hard sell on the short-comings of hospice care. When I tried to redirect the conversation to what they provided, I was told, "Let me give you some education". I just wanted him to answer my question. You know, if my initial question had been answered instead of some hard sell, we would have kept them in mind for their services in addition to the community-based palliative care services we need. Business practices are questionable. Provider might tell you that you agreed to something when you, indeed, had not. They surprised us during the initial meeting by telling us we needed to pay for the time since the manager had also invited the aide to attend. Rather than complete an assessment, they handed me the packet and said I could do it. The manager and aide discussed issues in front of us that should have been either worked out ahead of time or discussed by themselves. The manager wanted us to pay directly to them instead of to the agency (as their contract with the referring agency required) that referred us to Synergy. So, be forewarned. read more

The main reason I am providing any stars is that the caregivers we had for my dad were great. This poor review is based on the business practices of the franchise owner Ray Fitzgibbons. I called to ask a question about billing. Other than the first time I called to engage Synergy in the first place, this was the only time I ever spoke directly to Ray about anything. The office staff was generally very responsive and told me a billing question needed to be referred to Ray. I was charged $10 more per hour so I called to inquire if there had been an increase in rates. I asked politely. The response I got was horrible: Ray told me that I don't "pay him enough for him to care" about us. This is the first I had ever been told that we weren't asking for enough hours from them. Our plan had always been to have caregivers in place and then increase the hours as Dad's needs progressed and we indeed had already done that and had fully intended to increase again this fall. I am disappointed, frankly, to have to switch caregivers at this point. He went on to say "pay whatever you want, it's not worth it to spend time on this" and he said it in the most insulting way possible. The worst is that he went on to tell me 3 times how little he cared because I "didn't pay him enough". He said working with us was basically charity and he was not going to bother to talk with me further even though at this point he hadn't let me say more than 2 sentences. I finally got a word in edgewise and said "wait a minute,we have a contract that I've always lived up to, we've been good customers, we've always paid on time and this is the first time I've ever asked you a question". He responded derisively that "we talk all the time via emails". The only emails I had traded with him were when I offered to pay the caregivers for time talking with me on the phone and he accepted. The other time I traded emails with Ray was when I offered to prepay an allowance so that the caregivers could have lunch with Dad since sometimes he couldn't find his credit card. These are all nice things and something I tried to do to show appreciation for the kind efforts of the caregivers. His responses via email had been appreciative. There had been 0 conflict prior to this outrageous phone call. Ray is clearly a very angry, heartless person. I know this West Seattle branch has had large staff shake-ups recently as well and now I know why. I cannot in good conscience stay with a company whose franchise owner comes right out and says that he couldn't care less about us since that attitude will certainly trickle down eventually. I asked him to clarify that and he repeated it again. I repeat that I had NEVER been told that we weren't asking for enough hours from them. We are going now with Home Instead and I encourage others to explore working with companies whose owners actually do care about the people they work with. Clearly unless you pay them a bunch of money - you don't matter at all. read more

This review is for the location in Bellevue Wa. I have the paperwork to prove it!!!! We haven't dealt with any other locations. And instead of explaining why, or sending us an invoice with what the additional charges are, they have now sent our account to collections. I'm really very disappointed because these people sent out inexperienced healthcare workers (who spoke very little english) and made my husband feel afraid and unsafe. They even made us pay before they even came out..and then added $300 (now $375 because they say its past due) 2 years later. We used 2 other home healthcare companies after this one and this is the only one that has treated us this way!!!!! read more

All Caregivers have CNA license, First Aide, CPR and meet many other requirements before being sent to a client. Their caregivers must also pass a background check and finger printing. This made me very comfortable in choosing Synergy. The owners treat you as if you are family, making sure that you get the very best care. The office staff will go above and beyond to answer questions or concerns you may have even if its 3 am!! Synergy has someone ready to answer the phones 24 hours a day. I got a call from this company about a job the person who interviewed me by phone don't understand at all what he saying and he so rude.

I am confined to a wheelchair but have some mobility and for the most part live independently but rely on Synergy for help with cleaning my apartment as well as doing laundry and showering once a week I have been using Synergy for the last couple of months and have found the caregivers I've worked with; Carol, Jenn, and Josephine to be excellent and a real pleasure to work with however the last two weeks I have been informed the day my caregiver was to arrive that no one would be coming I live alone and have no family who can help. So now am left with no clean clothes or abilility to safely clean myself which is totally unacceptable for a company that provides this type of service. It seems to me that the office takes on commitments they are unable to fulfill which endangers their clients the 2 stars are for the caregivers Carol, Jenn, and Josephine wish i could review them seperately read more

Carol, Co owner, is a kind, knowledgeable, and compassionate woman. She listened closely to our needs, and found caregivers who were a great fit for my mom. For everything they do for families they could charge top dollar but they don't. They are just amazing with what they offer. They pick caring caregivers who are hard working, intelligent and have huge integrity. Carole will work with families on their needs, even if the scheduling or needs are complicated.
