I value the apology and assistance they provided to enhance our experience. I am very disappointed with Darien Immediate Care. I took my son there due to a shoulder injury and he was taken in for an X-Ray. PA Erin Berman read his x-ray and misdiagnosed him having a broken collarbone and dislocated shoulder and informed us to go to the ER ASAP. When the ER doctor read these same x-rays, I was informed that only my son's collarbone was broken, but his shoulder was not dislocated. However, the ER doctor nevertheless was required to take additional x-rays at this point to confirm the diagnosis that the shoulder was not, in fact, dislocated. Therefore, my son did not need to be rushed to the ER and could've received urgent care for his collarbone with a follow up with an orthopedic doctor. As a result, in addition to what this facility billed us, we incurred additional fees and costs for the ER visit and additional x-rays, and spent additional time agonizing over the injury. Therefore, I requested to speak with the office manager regarding my billing, who promised to call me but never did. When I spoke to the billing department, they refused to transfer me to the office manager or share contact information and refused to adjust my bill in any way. While I have no issue paying for medical services, I do have an issue incurring unnecessary additional fees and costs due to the misdiagnosis. If my son was diagnosed properly in this facility, we wouldn't have had to go the ER and he would walked away with a sling, which is the recommended treatment for a broken collarbone. This is also my second negative experience with this facility. During a prior visit, we saw PA Anum Haq who diagnosed my son with an ear infection; however, PA Anum Haq then failed to timely send the required prescription to the pharmacy, which delayed my son's healing and caused him more pain. I will never go to this facility again, and will share my experience where possible so that other families do not have to incur unnecessary additional expenses when money is already tightly budgeted for most.

Melissa, the medical assistant, was thorough with her vital checks and made sure I had my printed out summary of care when I left. Great place to go when not feeling well. The staff has always been cordial and accommodating. They do their best to get you in when needed but patients need to be flexible as well. For example, someone needs an appointment ASAP but when given the option of the next day they say 'no that won't work". I hear that all the time! and then the patient gets mad about no appointment options! It does stink that the doctors rotate every few years. But the new residents are always energetic and happy to help you. This is a good medical practice, much better managed then others. Keep up the good work HFMC doctors, nurses and staff! And yes, they do have social workers and counselors that will see you for free as many times as needed!

Dr. Z asked me if I wanted to proceed with an Rx that would help if she was correct. Of course she was! We were conservative and she started with a baseline dose of 10 MG. Even 10 MG. made a difference, and at two follow up appts. she systematically increased the dosage to my maintenance level of 40 MG. I realized she could have set me up from Day One with a higher dose, even 50 MG. Capsules since taking, 1, 2, or 4 capsules at bedtime might be viewed by some as inconvenient- but her assessment and insight was right on target and the Vertigo and Migraines have been kept in check without dosing me at higher than necessary levels. I no longer have to pause and grab a wall due to Vertigo, and my ( previously untreated) Migraines are vastly improved. I now can see her once a year since I know if anything comes up I can send her/her team a message on MyLoyola to sanity check any issues. YAY!

Here's why: She always thinks of everything without me even asking, from meds, to at home things to do, to a school note, without hesitation. She always makes a little bit of small talk with my sons, but it's like she really cares. Bonus: The place is clean, the front desk staff is friendly, calm and efficient. They smile and are efficient and great with insurance and I haven't ever received a crazy bill from them ever. The wait time has never exceeded 15 minutes. We are out within 45 min including payment and lab tests. I am not getting paid by them to say all this stuff LOL haha!
