Updated on 01/29/2024 After a billing department employee contacted me and made an attempt to fix the misdiagnosis-related issue, I decided to update my review. I value the apology and assistance they provided to enhance our experience. I am very disappointed with Darien Immediate Care. I took my son there due to a shoulder injury and he was taken in for an X-Ray. PA Erin Berman read his x-ray and misdiagnosed him having a broken collarbone and dislocated shoulder and informed us to go to the ER ASAP. When the ER doctor read these same x-rays, I was informed that only my son's collarbone was broken, but his shoulder was not dislocated. However, the ER doctor nevertheless was required to take additional x-rays at this point to confirm the diagnosis that the shoulder was not, in fact, dislocated. Therefore, my son did not need to be rushed to the ER and could've received urgent care for his collarbone with a follow up with an orthopedic doctor. As a result, in addition to what this facility billed us, we incurred additional fees and costs for the ER visit and additional x-rays, and spent additional time agonizing over the injury. Therefore, I requested to speak with the office manager regarding my billing, who promised to call me but never did. When I spoke to the billing department, they refused to transfer me to the office manager or share contact information and refused to adjust my bill in any way. While I have no issue paying for medical services, I do have an issue incurring unnecessary additional fees and costs due to the misdiagnosis. If my son was diagnosed properly in this facility, we wouldn't have had to go the ER and he would walked away with a sling, which is the recommended treatment for a broken collarbone. This is also my second negative experience with this facility. During a prior visit, we saw PA Anum Haq who diagnosed my son with an ear infection; however, PA Anum Haq then failed to timely send the required prescription to the pharmacy, which delayed my son's healing and caused him more pain. I will never go to this facility again, and will share my experience where possible so that other families do not have to incur unnecessary additional expenses when money is already tightly budgeted for most. read more

On 4-24-2024, I went to see them because of a persistent cough and nasal drainage that kept me awake. Kodi at the front desk got me in right away. I saw Dr. Thakadiyil who is an outstanding provider and after thoroughly examining me, she ordered COVID, flu and RSV tests which have come back negative. Having been here before, she knew my medical history and prescribed inhalers for me and ordered a nebulizer treatment. I left feeling much relieved that I had been examined and had a plan to help. Melissa, the medical assistant, was thorough with her vital checks and made sure I had my printed out summary of care when I left. Great place to go when not feeling well. I have known Dr Thakadiyil for a very long time. I am delighted with every interaction that I have had with her, and find her to be a compassionate, funny, competent, and remarkable physician. Every time I see her, she makes me feel good about myself. She is thorough and incredibly caring, even though her practice is so busy. I feel like I am the only person in the world when I see her. My daughter tripped and banged her forehead on the edge of our entertainment center. Luckily she did not need stitches and only needed the cut cleaned and covered with a bandaid. The front desk and nurse were great, however, Dr. Anita Thakadiyil's bedside manner with my 2 year old was traumatic. She was extremely physically aggressive, assertive and rushed her care with my daughter while cleaning the cut on her forehead. It was as if the doctor has not worked with children within her medical career. She gripped my daughter's arms and head very aggressively and pinned her down onto me to clean her cut. My daughter was screaming and crying. The doctor kept screaming back at my daughter and continued to increase her volume, as if she was trying to be louder than my daughter's cries. In all honesty, her physical aggressiveness when touching my daughter and rushed behavior was unnecessary for a simple cut cleaning. The front desk shared on the phone that there were no other patients or appointments scheduled for the remainder of the night. That was true upon our arrival. In my opinion, the doctor is very disconnected from the fact that her patients are humans, not just a task that requires a medical intervention. read more

I also took a video of the entire process to make an appointment with no explanation of an office visit. Also added another photo of what happens when I click the time. It literally just says "book it". Please stop lying on your comments and go on the app yourself and see. This is false information. read more

I had called prior to going to see if they were busy. The person on the phone said yes they were busy, but I could still walk in and wait. I got there and I was declined when I arrived. They said they had decided to stop taking patients. I asked if I was able to still get on the waiting list because I had called prior to coming and was told I could do a walk in. My mother went to Cosco for hearing aids and they found that she had a piece of her old hearing aid suction cup in her ear. They said we needed to see an ENT to get it out. I called over to Darien Immediate Care and spoke to Nurse Lauren. She got me right in and they were able to get the piece out right away. It would have taken me weeks to get her in somewhere else. I love everyone that works at Darien Immediate Care. They are very friendly and do great work. read more

We had an online appointment during the COVID crisis in April 2020. The doctor in the beginning of the appointment assured us 100% that it will be covered under our health insurance. The appointment was only for FEW MINUTES. They sent us a bill of over $700 for the FEW MINUTES and said that they filed the previous insurance card and not the new card. Can you believe this!!! PLEASE STOP TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE DURING THE COVID CRISIS. The services there are not great, think about it few minutes online call for $700!!!!!. I recommend that you pick a better office who knows how to handles insurance. There are many good offices in the west suburbs. When you meet the staff, it's a mixed bag. A couple friendly. Some not so much. One in particular VERY rude. I forget her name, but she is most definitely obviously rude when you're there. The main doctor I visited was mildly friendly, and she seemed like she initially wanted to help me but what do I know. She ended up googling pictures of what my symptoms were. Of course, I had already done this at home and got the same results. She proceeded to order every lab in the world costing me a fortune even after insurance (it's sad because I have great insurance coverage). I won't be eating for the next four months after that. It costed more than my rent. What was really disappointing was that they made me come back only to tell me that all my labs were CLEAR. Which, most doctors I know either leave you a message or tell you over the phone. When I had talked with them over the phone before coming in, they made it seem like something was wrong with me. This was misleading and borderline morally wrong. But, let's be real here, it's a business and they're out to make money sadly and could care less about the way the do it. The doctor wasn't even able to diagnose my issue and give it proper treatment. Called me in to basically tell me that I'm fine. But here, let's charge you another 100+ dollars after insurance for visiting me. Some people, who are regular lower middle class to middle class people can't afford that in combination with the absurd bill from the appointment prior. Even wealthy folks won't waste their time if you're not even going to help them with their issues. I'm more than convinced that the reviews were written by friends on this page. I notice that there's a vote on every review Sadly, yelp can't bet trusted sometimes. I believe people should know the experience I have before making a decision to visit this clinic. read more

I have been going to this clinic for a few years now. Every time I go, with or without an appointment, I am taken in immediately. The nurses, doctors, and staff are outstanding and extremely attentive. They are thorough, they are caring, and they not only made sure that I got proper care, but they call the day or two after to check in on how I'm feeling! After a few visits for different reasons, I made Dr. Thakadiyil my primary care doctor. I recommend this clinic to anyone and everyone! read more

If you live in Burr Ridge and you're not going to this care center you're crazy. The doctors are great and give so much personal care and attention. I take my kids too now. It's so much easier than going to my primary care. I can even go over without an appointment... amazing!! read more

Don't go here if you have an issue Within a half hour of when they are closing, the doctor talked really fast, Told my daughter her abdominal cramping was from a UTI most likely and give her an antibiotic before the UTI results were even in. Ended up taking her to the ER and it was definitely not a UTI. A complete waste of time. read more

Okay nobody wants to wind up at an urgent care after ripping their toe nail off, but alas, I found myself in that situation a couple of weeks ago. I was a complete mess when I arrived and the reception staff were extremely comforting and helpful. They also doubled as the nurse and X-Ray tech. After being taken in, I was rolled to X-Ray and eventually the doctor helped deal with the situation. As they numbed my toe in order to properly clean it, I was put at ease with my favorite music (Jackson Brown on Pandora) and friendly banter. My doctor did an amazing job, provided easy to read follow-up instructions, and recommended an exceptional podiatrist for follow-up. Additionally, I received two follow-up phone calls to see how I was doing. I would highly recommend the nurses and doctors here. read more

Great Office. Super professional and quick. I stopped by after reading some yelp reviews looking for a place to help me battle tonsillitis. I was literally in and out in about 30 minutes. Dr. Thakadiyil doesn't know it yet, but she will be my primary care physician! She was super thorough and answered all of my questions. Her superb bedside manners go unparalleled! Each provider I have seen has been very kind and compassionate. Staff is great. I was taken back to a room as soon as I was done with my paperwork and didn't have to wait long to see the doctor. I love that this urgent care is open 7 days a week including holidays and will make sure I am up to date on all my preventative needs. read more

I have been to this location 2 times. Both times I arrived at 8am and was immediately brought to the back to see a physician. I saw Erin Browne both times. She is one of the kindest, most genuine physicians that I've ever seen. I wish she could be my family doctor. Higgly recommend. read more

There is only one reason I am giving this place 1 star. They forced me to pay 125 deposit in order to been seen due to my deductible being 1500 in all the doctors and other clinics I've been to they've always just billed the insurance first because of them being in network which this clinic is so I would only be charged a reduced rate. I informed the last that's money I don't have and that I have never had to go through this before. She just stared at me I got upset and wound up having to call my mother and have her call back in with her credit card number. read more

Don't bother making an appointment at this place. I used ZocDoc to make an appointment. What a complete waste of time. This stupid clinic shouldn't be allowed to use ZocDoc. I had an appointment and arrived before my appointment time. I filled out forms and sat and waited for 20 mins. I asked when I would be seen and they told me not for another half hour because a lot of people walked in before me. I asked if these people had appointments and they said no. Screw this place. They knew I was coming for an appointment and didn't hold a spot for me?? What was the point then? And they didn't inform me at check-in that I would be waiting an hour. ZERO STARS. read more

Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. Just got back from their office after I pulled my back and felt compelled to add to the glowing reviews straight away. Everyone I interacted with today was wonderful. Personable. Friendly. Helpful.I came in on a Tuesday afternoon and it was completely empty. I finished my paperwork and was seen immediately by Justin for all my vitals and pre-exam stuff. Cool guy, warm personality...felt like an old buddy I've known for years. Laura, a PA, attended on me. She was sweet, down-to-earth, and had the best beside manner that I've ever experienced in recent memory. Probably one of the best health care experiences I've ever had. I'm super GRATEFUL for how smoothly they took care of my needs. I'm relocating to the city soon but will very likely commute to this location for all my primary care needs. read more

Needed to get my 92 year old Mother to an Emergency Room fast as she fell on our way to church. Darien Immediate Care is where we went, and are so glad we did. The staff is so friendly and upbeat-they made a scary situation into an almost "fun" one! We were seen immediately, and my Mother felt at home right away. The two front desk receptionist girls, Courtney and Fran, were great. So friendly and welcoming, unlike other ER's where they can be very cold to you, like you're bothering them. Very helpful with the paperwork I needed to fill out-they didn't make you feel like you were stupid or bothering them. We saw Dr.Justin first, who did an outstanding job of cleaning out my Mom's wound. Deep laceration to her left hand. He has an amazing sense of humor and really put Mom at ease. Then Dr.Rylee came in for further evaluation and she was also very compassionate and took good care of Mom. What a great team they are! In 2017 we had a great experience here. Today not so much. Please AVOID this place. My husband was prescribed cough medicine for bronchitis that he gets once or twice a year. They actually called the pharmacy to cancel the prescription and waited to do it until 5 minutes before their office closed. Really unprofessional. Don't waste your money here. What kind of Doctors office does that and doesn't actually let you talk to the doctor? Now we will spend another co-pay seeing an actual doctor who knows what they are doing. I had a great experience there today. I only had a small window of time before I needed to pick my kids from school, but they got me in and did a very thorough, and quick evaluation and assessment. My experience that I had here was beyond the best I have ever received in a doctor's office. The staff was very friendly at the front desk. The nurse and doctor that I saw showed true concern and focus on my reason for visit. They did not simply push me along quickly to get to the next patient, which is something I deal with majority of the time at other establishments. I love that this urgent care clinic is conveniently located near the expressway, right off the I-55! There is a TV in the waiting room, and the front desk ladies were offering water and juice since it's a hot day. It's good to know that they care about patients' well being. The facility is brand new. I didn't spend much time waiting -- I think it took 1 hour from checking in, to leaving. They also sent my prescription directly to my designated pharmacy. Been a pt there at least 6 times in the last year since my family Dr of many years retired. Initially I was impressed with the staff and medical providers. However, that changed today. My pharmacy contacted them 4 days ago for a refill of one of my maintenance meds. They still had not received the scrip this am so I called DIC to find out what the problem was. I was told the Dr denied the request. When I asked why, they said the Dr needs to see me every 3 months to fill Rx. News to me!! I was just there 2 months ago! They should have called me right away and not just refused to fill it. Now I am completely out of a med I need. Their "policy" strikes me as a way to get $, not provide good pt relations or good pt care. I intend never to return there and am getting a new Dr. forthwith. read more

My daughter slipped on a stair over the weekend and had a lot of pain in her foot so I went to this facility on a Sunday morning. Originally I was going to go elsewhere (closer) but when I called to inquire they told me their x-ray machine was down, so I ended up at Darien Immediate Care instead. So glad we did. The office staff was very attentive and nice. The waiting area has a fridge with juices/drinks, granola bars, fortune cookies, etc. which made for a nicer, short wait while I completed the paperwork. We were seen very quickly, and based on my daughter's symptoms, the doctor preferred to not do an x-ray quite yet, as to not expose my child to unnecessary radiator, which I appreciated. Overall a great experience and should we ever need immediate care again, we will certainly go there. read more

They don't care about the health of their patients, only money! The office finance personnel incorrectly informed my husband about our insurance benefits, forcing him to pay before being seen! He repeatly told her that our deductibles had been meet and no payment should be needed, she still insisted on payment of $90 before being seen. She later realized that what he had been saying turned out to be true because the computer finally updated the insurance, by then my husband left the building, upset and feeling that he was turned away. If you want to be treated like an ATM and not an actual person needing medical attention this is the place to go to!! read more
