The emergency wait can be long and on a frustrating night when I had a laceration on my lip as I had hurt my little dog by accident putting her down off my lap and he bit me. A chubby Shihtzu and I got him just wrong under his arms. I finally went up and said if I have to wait any longer I have to leave and I need care. It had been 5 hours. They were attentive and I had to see a surgeon who did a flawless stitch up of my lip. Although I am sure it is a requirement they called the police when I was in the waiting room about the dog bite. The police were upset they had been called when they found out it was my dog and not a criminal act and could not understand why the hospital had called them. It was upsetting already to be there but compounded by the police showing up. They left. The staff is patient, they explain all the procedures but most importantly they listen. There is security there and vending machines and easy access to restrooms. The parking is scary at night to walk quite a distance from the lot to emergency if you are injured and very few spots near the real doors. I had to go alone. I did not see lot monitors or good lighting. You can also enter from 91st west to California and take a left to miss the train tracks. My mother in law went through extensive treatment and spoke highly of the doctors and the care. Check your insurance to be sure they are not out if network as I got a hefty bill. I now go to Advocate for emergencies. Bialys is across the street if you need breakfast or a great meal if you are there for Family.

I honestly yelped it and it had no wait so I was happy about that. I really didnt want to wait in the emergency department from a hospital when I knew it was a minor thing. When I walked in I was greeted immediately and informed to sign in. I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork due to I was out of state seeking care for my son. The receptionist stated I needed to pay out of pocket and I was fine with it but I knew they could contact my health insurance and get it squared away. After talking to the receptionist she politely obliged and said she would figure it out we just needed to get our son seen. (I thought that was super nice). I honestly waited about 25 min from coming in to being brought into the doctors office. The doctor that saw my son was very knowledgeable and efficient. Loved that fact that he asked us if we had any questions yet he explain everything that he was doing. He went into detail of what was wrong with our 18 month. Because I had chills and a slight fever, a family member gave me a home COVID-19 test, which was negative. I left home with plenty of time to get to my appointment, but the Kiosk would not acknowledge either my name or my confirmation number. Finally, a receptionist came out and had me sign in on paper. I finally got in to see a Medical Professional, who listened to my symptoms, then told me I had to go to another facility. I got to the OSF facility before they close. The PA there examined me, ordered a prescription, gave me a note for work and was very professional. I don't understand why CVS gave me an appointment if they would not treat me! I WON't be back!
