    Turkey cranberry sandwich
    Jody K.

I was in Otonagon and asked the hotel owner for restaurant suggestions. He said that Syl's Cafe was one of the more popular places, and after looking over the menus that he had, I decided that it sounded good. I ordered the turkey cranberry sandwich. It was really good, and kind of an unusual combination. I loved the cranberry sauce that was on the side. I also got a breakfast pizza to go. It was also delicous -- both hot and cold! The service was also friendly, efficent and good. Syl's is a nice, small town restaurant that I'd definitely go back to if I was in the area again.

After a long day hiking in the Porkies we stopped by Sly's. Our waitress, Kristy, was so sweet and kind and working her butt off. We needed a yummy filling meal and what's exactly what we got. I ordered the pasty and my hubby ordered the turkey sandwich because Kristy recommended it. Both were so good and we cleaned our plates. We had such a great experience that we decided we had to stop by for breakfast. So we came back bright and early, and Kristy was there again serving up with a smile. We both had the cinnamon French toast and it was scrumptious. We also ordered a few donuts to enjoy on our 6.5hr drive. You absolutely need to stop by Sil's when you stay in Ontonagon!!

Cute breakfast spot in the middle of nowhere, Michigan. We stopped here on our way to Porcupine mountains The food was plenty and couldn't finish them all. Tried the pasties here. Definitely good food!

Cute little spot in a small town. Staff was friendly and service was quick even though they were busy. We ordered pizza "Syl's Special" I thought it was pretty amazing. They loaded it with toppings, don't mind the half eaten pizza in the pic. If you are up this way and you love pizza, it's worth a stop and they also offer other menu options if pizza isn't your thing. They offer donuts, pies and other baked goods, which I plan to get some to go.

The food is delicious, everyone really friendly, great atmosphere and the desserts looked amazing, too full for dessert though, they have good portion sizes for dinner menu. Definitely recommend.

Amazing restaurant in the small village of Ontonagon. It is the heartbeat of the town. Good food and friendly servers. Ate there every day for 5 days. Nice selection too. Enjoyed their breakfast English muffin sandwich platter and Mello Yello. Takeout pizza and salad was good too.

Typically I review dive bars, an occasional restaurant, and now and again somewhere decent. This place was most certainly decent, if not excellent. If you're a fan of Cafes, this is your stop. The staff are fast, friendly, and so are the prices and food. My fiancé got the French Toast, and I got the Philly Cheesesteak, I don't know why, but neither of us were disappointed. I absolutely hate mushrooms, but ya know what, they were great in there. The French Toast was made with handmade dough and it was awesome too. Highly recommend a stop if you're in town.

    All meat pizza

Amazing service and extremely generous proportions. Highly recommend this restaurant very large food selection and many choices to choose from. The ambiance of the restaurant is amazing and gives you a small town vibe.

    French Toast with Ham

I had the French toast with a side of Ham. I thought the sour dough bread had a good thickness and texture. The dinner also has a fresh bakery case (photo taken during dinner the night before) in which I had a blue berry Pastry which was phenomenal. Must stop restaurant

    "Mini - Pasty
    Amanda B.

So glad to find such a gem only 10 miles from our hotel (AmerInn, Ontonagon). Hubs and I split a "mini" Pasty, which was as big as the other "normal sized" pasties we've had before. Pasty was good, but they don't serve it with gravy, that flavor and sauce was what was missing for me--still had a great flavor. Husband had the BBQ Cobb salad minus the BBQ sauce, and it was delicious! Chicken, bacon and hard boiled eggs in this salad was the perfect protein after a day of hiking. I enjoyed a personal pizza (and stolen bites of salad!) We got a slice of chocolate pie to go, and WE WILL BE BACK soon to sample their homemade doughnuts and their breakfast menu!

    Stuffed pepperoni breadsticks
    Becca W.

This place was super busy, we did not dine in just got carry out. Got pizza, pepperoni stuffed breadsticks and onion rings. Pizza was delicious but honestly the stuffed breadsticks was even better than the pizza. Onion rings were exactly how I liked them thin and crispy soooo good great flavor. You can tell it's a small mom and pop shop so happy we found it, service was good also.

Great food! The best breakfast we have had in the UP. I had the pot roast plate, heaven on a plate. Only down point was the coffee.

If you're looking for a no frills, hot, home cooked meal, this is the place. I ordered the corned beef hash with a side of hash browns and it was all seasoned perfectly (just needed hot sauce) and my husband got the Western omelette which was huge! I had a bite and the veggies in it were nice and fresh. We both got coffees as well. We were in and out quickly (there was no line) and the service was great! Masks required until you sit at your table as well which is always nice to see. Our bill was $25- great deal! W

UP North cafe has become my go to place for breakfast. If you have not had UP North Cafe's breakfast sausage links, you're missing out. I travel all over the world and haven't had better. The locals are extremely friendly, I envited myself into a group of locals who meet there to share coffee and chat. They welcomed me just like they knew me my whole life. The owner of the restaurant remembers my name and acknowledges when I come in. Again, I'm only in town a few weeks a year. Excellent Friday fish fry as well. Best in town I'd say. If you haven't been there or it's been a few years, the place has had some remodeling and is nice and welcoming. I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars if I could. Try the breakfast sausage links, you'll be glad you did.

There were NOT. It was a perfect bake, and I do mean perfect. Not a hard spot to be found, while still being done throughout. We also split a fish & chips meal that was tasty, and couldn't finish it, having started with the roll. I could stop there & be happy. These guys went beyond that tho, with fantastic service to boot.
