Great Food, Great Prices, Awesome Service! Great prices on food! The red headed waitress was amazingly friendly and gave some good tips for waterfalls in the area! My little boy was amazed by her friendly nature and her red hair since he had never seen red hair before! French toast was made with some great possibly made there delicious bread! It was great! This place is worth a stop for a bite....

Small restaurant and we were here at 1:30 pm yet it proceeded to fill up until there were no tables Available. There were approximately 25 people. Service was excellent. Breakfast is offered all day except no pancakes or French toast after 11 a.m. My husband ordered the hot beef sandwich, which was everything you could expect. Thick sliced roast beef, Texas thick slices of bread, mashed potatoes with ample gravy and a Heaping bowl of coleslaw. He Said he wouldn't want to live around here because he would eat here too often. Since breakfast is served all day I went for the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and Raisin toast. It was delicious. Both meals allowed us to add our own pepper and salt if needed, which we did. There is a board with a list of homemade pies and another board with desserts including Cake/ice cream, cookies. 2nd stop hubby had the roast beef sandwich again and I tried the Ruben with fries and we left with a couple peanut butter and chocolate Chip cookies to go. Peanut butter cookie with that homemade taste I remember as a child. Soft, chewy, fresh and delicious. The chocolate chip was just as tasty. Huge cookies for a great takeout when your too full to eat it at the restaurant. I also enjoyed a good tasting lemonade that came with two slices of fresh lemon.

Friday special!

Decent diner type food. But the pie is to die for! They have like 12 choices a day and I don't know how you can only choose one. The service is great too.

This is THE place to stop and eat if you're anywhere within 30-45 miles... Lots of options and the food is great. My only problem is that I didn't save room for the homemade pie!

They serve breakfast all day, minus pancakes and French toast after 11AM. I went for something off of the normal sandwich menu which sort of ended up being breakfast anyways.... I ordered the Denver Egg Sandwich, which was almost like a Denver omelet folded up and stuffed into two pieces of bread. It had ham, green pepper and onion on the inside. The only thing I wish I would have asked for, is adding cheese. It was served with a side of chips and a slice of dill pickle! Every review on every website for Char's Cafe stated that even if you do not have any room left, that you need to try at least one of many of the homemade pies here. We decided to get two slices to go, one of the strawberry rhubarb, and one dutch apple. I am not sure how they made it back to camp an hour away but they did. And lasted about 10 minutes after we got there. They were both tart and fresh. I wasn't a huge fan of the pie crust, but I usually am not a fan of most pie crusts to begin with. The strawberry rhubarb was my favorite. http://smalltowngirlfoodieworld.blogspot.com/2015/07/chars-cafe.html

Bacon cheeseburger - toppings ordered separately

Bacon cheeseburger was decent. Didn't realize they don't come with any toppings. Fries a little underdone and no salt. Overall okay. Probably a little better if we ate in. Would be interested in trying one of their sandwiches next time.

UP North Cafe

If you have not had UP North Cafe's breakfast sausage links, you're missing out. I travel all over the world and haven't had better. The locals are extremely friendly, I envited myself into a group of locals who meet there to share coffee and chat. They welcomed me just like they knew me my whole life. The owner of the restaurant remembers my name and acknowledges when I come in. Again, I'm only in town a few weeks a year. Excellent Friday fish fry as well. Best in town I'd say. If you haven't been there or it's been a few years, the place has had some remodeling and is nice and welcoming. I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars if I could. Try the breakfast sausage links, you'll be glad you did.

Up North Cafe was exactly what we were looking for, for breakfast! I had an omelette with sourdough. The sourdough toast was really awesome. My boyfriend had the corn beef hash with sourdough and loved the toast as well. The staff were very friendly. A clean place with a big menu. They serve breakfast all day too which is helpful! Overall a great place for breakfast with reasonable prices. They serve lunch and dinner too but we only had their breakfast. A nice place to dine with an up north vibe! This is what you are looking for!!
