They carry everything you need for your home. I was impressed. The employees are helpful and friendly. I appreciated that. When you go to a big chain store, it is harder to find someone to help you. They have everything!! So glad to have found this store so close to home! I always try to stick to the smaller hardware shops, but was unaware of one in my area until I found Sykes! This is a relief, because I don't like to drive far in traffic - and I like hunting-down-a-person-at-Home-Depot-to-help-me even less. I walked in to ask for a replacement switch for the light pull chain on my ceiling fan. The friendly lady behind the counter, called someone over, who helped me find the switch, then he even started to explain to me how to replace the switch in my ceiling lamp! I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes!! There' s just something to be said about a locally owner store, with employees who have mad handiness skills. And that is, "Big props to Sykes for keeping it old school in the service department!" They do close a bit early for me, but do what you can to get there early, because the service and convenience is totally worth the shorter hours. read more

Went there recently and I will never return. Place was messy, hard to get an employee to assist you, I asked one of the workers there for some assistance, but he did not appear in the least bit interested in helping me, he shrugged his shoulders and said maybe the manager knows and walked away...i was shocked! I have a few friends constructing building near this store and they have all told me several negative stories about this specific store. All the workers seem lost. I try giving small businesses a chance, but this place is very unorganized and not customer friendly at ALL. Take your money elsewhere! read more

Went there for help for unclogging a shower drain. Employee tells me to buy a heavy duty plunger and a snake. Tells me to try the plunger first and if it works I can return the snake. The plunger does the job and I come back to return the snake. They tell me it's a nonrenfundable item. The manager Manny refuses to even offer a store credit or anything. Claims that certain items are final sale items and snake is one of them. No one told me that when I purchased the snake and nowhere where the snakes are stocked does it say final sale or nonrefundable item. It only says it in small print on the receipt. I didn't look at it because I just stuffed it into my pocket believing what Manny's employee told me that I could return it. When I explain this to him, he says how I discipline my employee for giving you wrong information is not your concern. No wonder Ace stores lose out to Home Depot and Lowes. I would seriously give this hardware store a miss. I apologize as I have not done any research on this store and none of the information I am about to give you has been confirmed by this establishment. What I will tell you is my opinion. This is a franchise. Today I realized. Their prices are determined by the way the owner feels on any day. The owner is far away, in a bubble somewhere. These are his employees who take their job of robbing you in plain daylight seriously. There are people around you who are willingly here not by force who are buying these products that you are dumbfounded by. Yes its true. The man next to you isn't disgusted. There are two people behind you, wondering why you are looking at the cashier like she must be joking. You also cannot walk behind any isle without whats his name running after you. I want to say his name is Larry but I know its not. He grabs me every time I go there. I tell him what I want and he gets it wrong every time because this guy definitely doesn't talk or understand women's talk. There's a paint section, but those tiny little paint jars cost more than a paint brush. I have returned items here before, both times without a receipt and they were both times screws and nails. I was refunded both times by exchanging items thanks to whats his name. If I was you I would just give the whole place and experience a skip, only because of the prices and the people who don't speak women talk. read more

I own and operate a boxing gym Sol Box Fitness Club near this particular Ace. I've been going there since April of 2013 when I first acquired the space for my gym. I'm often in need of little things to help secure and mount my equipment, so they are my go to hardware store. For 6 years they have been consistently friendly, helpful and most important knowledgable about everything in their store. Sometimes I might need something but I might not be quite sure what exactly it is I need. So I'll describe what I need and help is on the way. If one person doesn't have the answer for me someone else in the store soon will. My last visit was today and as always the the customer service and warm greetings were 5 star! Seriously this is the best Hardware store I have ever been to. The staff is smart, quick and responsive and always happy to help. They can pull from other stores or order just about anything. Ridiculous breadth of inventory for a small local store. Parking on the street, side and back in great location. We are building a brewery nearby and are in the store at least once a day. If I never have to go to Home Depot again it will be too soon. Yes you pay for convenience but in Miami traffic it a smart investment. read more

Ace Hardware is a great spot to conveniently pick up what you need quick. Its packed with everything you might need and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Located off NW 79th St its a real time saver for those not wanting to trek out to the Depot. They're a bit on the pricey side compared to the larger retailers. I came in for Pest Block foam spray to help control the mice in my studio. It seemed a bit high here and a web search had Home Depot's price at 50% less. So with more than one item needed it may not be as convenient depending your budget. Nevertheless Ace Hardware stores are great for a large variety of do it yourself needs!! read more

This store is bigger in the inside than outside. There was an employee that was helpful through the whole shopping experience. Went here to have 3 keys made for a rental unit which was a terrible idea. Each key cost $2.99 to cut, which is insanely expensive . Then the keys weren't cut correctly and didn't work. To make matters worse, the key was so badly cut it was stuck in the lock and I had to have the lock removed in order to get the key out. I called Aces at 5:15 to let them know that the keys didn't work and was stuck in my lock, at the first they were nice and said just to bring it back and they would fix it. They close at 5:30pm, so I called them back to let them know that I would just come back the next day,but Mercedes was super rude. She kept repeating they were closed, which I already knew, over and over again. She never once apologized or even said I know we are closed, but we'll wait for you to come back if you want to get it done today. For spending $10 on poorly cut keys that got stuck in the lock you would think this family owned business would do a little better with their costumer service. Overpriced and poor costumer service isn't going to work for me. I'll be going to Home Depot from here on out. read more
