I have also heard wonderful things about all of the neurologists here. This practice is located across from Baptist Medical Center Downtown in the Aetna Building. There are some really beautiful views of downtown and the river from their offices. The only negative thing I have to say about this practice is that there is always a wait. It's not uncommon for the wait to be up to an hour. So, bring a book, your iPad, etc. Just plan accordingly. Also, you cannot just call her and make an appointment. Even if you have insurance that doesn't require you to go through your primary care doctor to see a specialist, this practice still requires you to have a referral from your primary care doctor. It's also impossible to get them on the phone immediately whether it's to make an appointment, get med refills, etc. You'll have to leave a message. However, they are excellent at calling you back ASAP. I highly recommend Dr. Asad and this practice for your neurology needs.

It's across from Shands Hospital and takes up the entire 9th floor of Tower One. There's a large parking lot in front of the building so that was very convenient. A receptionist greets you on entering and he gave us good directions to reaching the offices. (We live an hour away and so I was already frazzled about finding the building and appreciated the greeting and directions). Our meeting went well, with not only the Director seeing Dennis, but two interns were practicing on him as well. LOL The staff was very pleasant and open about giving us info. There was a relaxed atmosphere in what could be a deadly serious locale. For example, you see the beach bum skeleton (photo) when entering the Director's office section and the doctor himself was wearing flamingo-themed socks and tie. While we were advised to see other medical specialists, I do think that we were treated with concern and given good advice.

The place is beautiful, art everywhere, places to sit and relax, history of the Mayo family and how it all came to be, photos, and information. This was all just in one part of it where we were, the ER and Davis Building. They also have quality places to eat and even a full Starbucks here. This is a state of the art hospital with world class physicians. Walking the corridors there an air of calm knowing you or your family member are being treated by the best.

She sought a 2nd opinion with a different doctor and hospital. The 2nd opinion didn't understand how Dr Shaw missed the fact that the MRI showed a clearly pinched nerve. After surgery with the 2nd opinion my wife is recovering pain free. Incompetent is a strong word, but he can't read an MRI.
