As a patient advocate, I was not shy about sharing with physicians when they were NOT meeting these minimum expectations . It took me 4years to find a neurologist that has cutting edge knowledge about medicine; the ability (and willingness) to bring choices regarding treatments options to the table to discuss with me as the patient; treats the WHOLE PERSON; and makes sure every patients feel like they are the person in charge and he is there to guide and support you on your journey. I left Dr. Asad's office after my 1st appointment this week having spent 1hr with a PA, followed by an hour (YES I SAID AN HOUR!!) with Dr. Asad. He sa in a chair, looked me in the eyes and made me feel like I was his #1 priority. He helped me come up with a plan for me that included options my prior neurologists claimed were not possible. The facility is top-notch, the campus is modern, clean, and the staff is terrific. Everyone we came in contact with were helpful and knowledgeable. The place is beautiful, art everywhere, places to sit and relax, history of the Mayo family and how it all came to be, photos, and information. This was all just in one part of it where we were, the ER and Davis Building. They also have quality places to eat and even a full Starbucks here. This is a state of the art hospital with world class physicians. Walking the corridors there an air of calm knowing you or your family member are being treated by the best.

They deserve a 5.0 based on our experience at least. The basis for my opinion is set forth below. My spouse injured his back so badly he was in a wheelchair. The night before the surgery he could barely transfer from his chair to bed and was in horrible pain despite strong opioid pain medication. Dr. Shaw operated and he woke to no pain, and was able to easily transfer to his wheelchair to come home just a few hours after surgery! Dr. Shaw is not only the ultimate professional, but has an excellent bedside manner during surgery. While at the office he explained things very clearly he was clinical. But before surgery he exuded warmth and caring that was such a comfort. And when he met with me while Charlie was in recovery to explain how the procedure went, I was I rushed and all my questions addressed. He is truly an A++ surgeon. Within a week we put the wheelchair into the garage and he was walking with the assistance of a walker for stability as he rebuilt his leg muscles. Within two weeks he could walk without the walker. Best of all the pain did not return. Dr.Shaw and Lyerly gave us our life back. Special shout out to Cheryl and Heather who are amazing - and part of the team who put Charlie back together again!! Charlie's neurologist Dr Snyder at Baptist recommended Lyerly/Dr Shaw and his office placed the order/reached out for us. We were called promptly, and seen within a week. Surgery was promptly scheduled for less than a week later and we had his follow-up scheduled before we left the Hospital. We cannot recommend Dr. Shaw, his group and this practice more positively.
