My mom who recently became ill with a relatively rare kind of heart and lung condition spent a week here being treated in the ICU and then PCU. As she is now in her 80's and in failing health it was imperative she receive the top care of healthcare professionals who specialize with what she has. There are only 3 doctors in the state who can treat her for what she has. Hence, Jacksonville is one of the medical facilities one is at and we were very pleased with the Mayo Clinic. The facility is top-notch, the campus is modern, clean, and the staff is terrific. Everyone we came in contact with were helpful and knowledgeable. The place is beautiful, art everywhere, places to sit and relax, history of the Mayo family and how it all came to be, photos, and information. This was all just in one part of it where we were, the ER and Davis Building. They also have quality places to eat and even a full Starbucks here. This is a state of the art hospital with world class physicians. Walking the corridors there an air of calm knowing you or your family member are being treated by the best. read more

I see Dr. Shearer and I can honestly say my health care has NEVER been this thorough. When you call, you get a real live human. They do blood work and all tests either here or at the hospital. top notch health care if you want answers. I had a few issues my old Dr just marked off as getting with age or nothing to worry about. While it was nothing to worry about, they actually got a diagnosis as to what it was and now I can take steps to avoid it getting any worse. DO NOT GO HERE! They are the most unhelpful medical practice I have ever gone to. I get bi monthly injections and i thought when i moved here Mayo Clinic would be a good choice to continue my care. I couldn't have been more wrong. The medication literally quadrupled in cost. i went from paying $300 out of pocket to being charged $1100. My insurance stayed the same, medication stayed the same, the only thing that changed was the doctors. I was not even given an accurate estimation of the cost before hand. When i asked to see exactly what i was paying for they refused to send me a break down. All they said was we offer "financial assistance and a payment plan" They sent me a link to CO Pay assistance and that was it. I have called multiple times and no one can seem to help me with actually using the copay assistance, but they have no problem calling and emailing asking for their money. It is so bad MY Doctor advised i switch providers. Each time i talk to an employee there they all say the same thing. WE WORK HERE AND DONT EVEN GO TO THE DOCTOR HERE. This place is a nightmare. I've had a couple of surgeries here over the past couple of years and regardless of the department I'm in, the care and service has been consistent. I appreciate that in my medical care. I love the website/ app, it's so easy to track everything. The staff are great and attentive. I was sad to learn that the nurses aren't paid as well as other hospitals in the area. The only critique is that they could have better signage in some areas but there's always someone around to ask for help. read more

Do not apply for their nurse educator jobs. You go through the application process and the interviews, and they always hire from within. They waste your time. The other educators interview you too and being an educator for years, the questions they ask have nothing to do with the job. If you are over 55 years of age, forget applying. They do not hiring older people. read more

The VA triage nurse told me, "Get to an ER." It's like walking into a First Class Lounge at the airport. Everyone was so professional and friendly it is a huge difference from VA Care. This type of difference is only because of the expectation of excellence flowing down to the lowest levels. There is no reason the VA personnel could not have this level of excellence other than the failure of VA Clinic Administrators. No one minds a wait if they are treated well. read more

My mom was killed by a misdiagnosis made by Dr.Hasan Saleh.After lying about her vaginal discharge calling it a yeast infection he was hellbent on getting her out of the hospital as soon as possible.I argued with him that she can not be released since she was going to the bathroom every 15 minutes.She was not allowed to go to the bathroom without a nurse which was taking too much of the staff's time. When I told him she can't be released he said to dispute it with the hospital and if they don't agree we would not be covered by medical insurance going forward.Unfortunatly we let him bully us and left. She was diagnosed correctly with stage 4 cancer and a fistula ninety days later at a hospital on Long Island.One of the doctors there told me it would've been impossible to miss this with all the tests they ran on her.The Mayo clinic itself is short staffed and no longer top rated,it seems that they are more worried about their statistics than their patients.Its disappointing that they have to hire doctors that are rude and unqualified.If you value your life or that of a loved one please stay away from Dr.Saleh.Hopefully he has been fired by now and isn't able to continue this reign of terror. read more

I've been going to Mayo since 2014 for several different issues. I can honestly say these doctors are the absolute best you will find anywhere. I've been treated for bone growths in my hips after a doctor at a different hospital replaced both my hips. I've had stomach surgery that only a handful of doctors in this country know how to do. This was the real important one because it allows me to eat normally. I'm here now following up on neck fusion surgery. I'm planning another surgery here down the road to remove the bone growth around my hips while having my right hip replaced a 2nd time. Every office visit has been completely professional and every desk person has been very helpful. All Mayo buildings are always very clean from the offices to the halls to the rest rooms. Over the years I've spent around a week combined recovering from procedures overnight in the hospital. I've only had an issue with one nurse and that's because she didn't want to give me my prescribed pain medicine when I needed it. After less than an hour I was able to get the medicine I needed from a different nurse. Other than that I could not have been treated better by everyone at Mayo. Also, they have very good flatbread pizza sold at one of their cafes in case you get tired of hospital food. read more

I would not recommend going here for cancer treatment. My Mom went here for several years and never received a bone marrow transplant. They accumulated a lot of money from research funds and insurance, but somehow never got around to offering the bone marrow transplant until it was too late. I even gave my own bone marrow which she never received, because she was "too sick" to get it when they could have started and completed the BMT long before this when she was much healthier. I feel it was never about the BMT, only about funding etc Aldo, the doctors were not knowledgeable enough for this to be such a respected medical facility. Very very disappointed! read more

I came to this place thinking that I'd come to a place that cares and for better doctors, well I've been coming to mayo for a few months now and they never sent but one prescription!!!!!! One prescription to my pharmacy , like I don't take meds every day!!! Then I have to fight for the one I had, then I call them only for the prescription to be the wrong prescription and I've been fighting migraines for days now, I went to Baptist clinic that's near my house and that doctor for to send in my prescription, CVS pharmacy said they were surprised that mayo messed up like this, well I told them to l at my prescription list, they've been messing up my meds for months!!!! I have to take my migraines prescription every day and I don't know what they're thinking, if something happens to me I don't know what is gonna happen to my husband. I only say this because I had a transplant at the 7th best transplant hospital in the United States and they didn't do test that were not necessary and they reached out to your providers for medical records. They say they are "booked out "and tell patients to get online and scramble for appointments we had referrals for testing and now they refuse to do a doctor follow-up appointment. I went to see an allergist at the newly opened Cannaday building at Mayo. My appointment was actually opening day of the building. Wow, I was impressed. I felt like a VIP lol. As I got closer to the office, I went through the atrium which had a pianist playing calming classical music. The building was huge, and it was a little hard to find the office as there's no sign. But I found a help desk nearby, and they sent me in the right direction. There were charging stations built into the lamps in the waiting room. Lots of seating and tissues available, which was helpful since I couldn't take my allergy medication for five days before the appointment. I highly recommend Dr Arveen Bhasin! She diagnosed my allergy at the first appointment, and I start shots in a few weeks. She listened to all my concerns and answered all my questions. read more

Top surgeons, team-based approach, beautiful facility and kind staff. What more can i say? Nobody wants to be in the hospital, but when its necessary, there would be no other choice for me, especially since I live in Florida. Another plus- amazing fine dining restaurant with full bar and delicious, healthy menu items (try the greek nachos and french onion soup) and great patient portal which makes it easy to contact physicians and nurses, track medication, refer to procedure notes, appointments, cost estimates and more. They also went out of their way to work with our schedule prior to surgery so that we didn't need to make the 2 hour trip to Jacksonville for one or two appointments. We had 6 in one day! Also Mayo offers more access to research studies than the average hospital. This means more post-procedure follow-up and special contacts who have quick access to doctors when needed. read more

It's the hospital you need. A place where you can take care of what you need when you need and how you need it. I never talked through my problems before. I sure as hell can now. Maybe all I needed was a change of environment, a change of energy and this hospital just has it all. Being the stay-at-home parent can get very lonely at times just the same as the one who leaves to go to work. I love this hospital. Best of luck to those who have yet to find their hospital. My husband had a feeding tube placed in November of 2025. Completely stopped using the tube mid April 2026. We have contacted numerous departments trying to find out how to get it removed. Finally we were given an appointment with a nutritionist who cleared him to have the tube removed. That was Monday May 4. Waited to hear from Interventions Radiology to have an appointment for removal. Heard nothing. Called that department on Friday May 8. They had not received clearance. I think it must take an act of congress to get this removed. read more

Love Mayo Clinic but when I ordered a meal online for a cancer patient since he was exhausted and was in a treatment for 4 hours and was hungry, I was unable to park and run in and pick the order up that was ready with him in the car. I was followed into the Southern Grounds cafe where my food should have been ready that I had ordered 1/2 hour prior and wasn't - and the valet asked me to move the car. I was not blocking and was only expecting to be there 1-3 minutes. When I asked where I could go to park for less than 5 minutes he did not have an answer as the parking was full. I had to leave the food behind and go elsewhere to get food for the patient. I figured less than 5 minutes would have been acceptable especially since I was not blocking anyone and it was very quiet - no cars had come thru in the couple minutes it took for me to have the conversation with the valet. I expected Mayo Clinic to be a place of exceptional care, somewhere patients like me could finally be taken seriously. Unfortunately, that's not been my experience. I am a young adult with multiple serious, overlapping conditions and disabilities, including ASD, which makes it difficult for me to advocate for myself. Despite this medically complex profile, I've repeatedly been ignored, dismissed, or blamed for my symptoms. I've seen more than one doctor here, and the pattern has remained the same: dismissive communication, minimal willingness to engage with patient concerns, and a lack of trauma-informed or financially-sensitive care. If you want to blow all your money or dig yourself deep into medical debt without gaining a single good thing from it, this is the place for you. When I reached out for help tapering off a medication known to cause SEVERE withdrawal symptoms, I was denied support and told to see a psychiatrist, even after I made it clear that I couldn't afford to do so, and was currently living in poverty and homeless. Instead of helping me taper safely, the doctor cut off communication. In a separate situation, I experienced a potentially life-threatening symptom (and incredibly high resting heart rate) which required emergency intervention, and was met with a misdiagnosis from my PCP that multiple other medical professionals later refuted. Despite this, no follow-up occurred. My concerns were brushed off repeatedly. The doctor I followed up with at Mayo blamed my prazosin dose, a mere 10mg, despite the ER physician explicitly stating that the medication had nothing to do with it. I was issued a holter monitor five days ago to track ongoing palpitations and abnormal heart rhythms, but it would not stay on no matter how carefully I followed instructions. It came off both during the day and at night. I contacted support and was told there was no alternative model available. This is the second time I've attempted wearing it- the first time was months ago, and I gave up then as well after the same issues. Still, I tried again. Still, nothing changed. Worse, when I informed customer service and my doctor, I was met with a shrug and basically told, "oh well," nothing to be done. That's been a consistent theme in my care. I have tried to be proactive. I've reached out, logged my symptoms, asked questions, and even filed a grievance through customer support, and nothing has changed. In a separate situation, I experienced prolonged heart palpitations lasting hours and had previously reported chest pain. When I sought emergency care, I was seen by a male ER doctor who shrugged off my symptoms and told me I was fine "because of my age." This attitude has been echoed in follow-up care at this clinic, where my symptoms were repeatedly minimized or attributed to unlikely causes rather than being properly investigated. I shouldn't, and nor should anyone else, have to beg to be believed. I shouldn't, and nor should anyone else, have to risk deep medical debt just to be told I'm too young to be taken seriously. I shouldn't, and nor should anyone else, be wearing malfunctioning cardiac equipment that no one will replace. And I shouldn't, nor should ANYONE else, be made to feel like my life, or god forbid death, would be just another number in a file. Please do better. Patients like me are falling through the cracks, and some of us don't make it out. I'm trying to survive this. I just wish I didn't have to do it alone. read more

I don't know why I just couldn't have told him what it was anyway got in the office at 10 AM. Nurse took my weight and height. Went there to the ER, and the ER doctor was rude and dismissive, we drove from south Florida to go there looking for help and got told I had a UTI, which in fact I actually didn't and wasn't even in there for any UTI symptoms but rather GI symptoms and severe weight loss and a BMI under 19. I was 99 lbs when I left there, a few days later my family rushed me to Orlando to Orlando Health ORMC and I was immediately admitted I was 96 lbs. a so weak and sick I wanted to just pas away. They immediately went to work with tests trying to figure out what was wrong with me, they placed a feeding tube and a few a week later placed a PEG tube through my stomach. I was diagnosed with SMAS( superior mesentary artery syndrome) my arteries were being pinched off because I had lost so much weight which was causing my symptoms, the underlying cause was/is adhesions causing stenosis in my bowels. I spent 20 days in the hospital at ORMC was released home then a month later went back in for another week. I had a serious condition which that ER doctor at Mayo neglected me, she didn't even bother to address me. I was a very serious ill person and she couldn't bother to even see me, I had to beg for anti-nausea medication as I was being discharged for nothing else but for the 2 hour drive home. My body was emaciated, you could see that, I was dying, but to her I was nothing. I will never forget or forgive how badly I was treated there. I had no idea I was under 100lbs, I asked the nurse wheeling me out to please weigh me and she did and I told her what I should be weighing and that nurse didn't even tell the doctor... hey this lady is really sick. I don't recommend anyone going here! Maybe this was why their ER had not one person in there except for me. I highly recommend ORMC Orlando, they saved my life when Mayo Clinic ER failed me and damn near killed due to lack of caring enough to about me to just admit me. They failed. read more

Dad has been a frequent flier here as of late- This most recent visit- he had a room with a great view! Not that he was enjoying it at first- staff is wonderful, friendly, and check in often. Mayo offers some of the best in so many departments. Parking is a bear- and handicap parking is not better. There isn't enough parking and the Valet is right with the handicap parking, which makes it difficult to navigate and avoid the loading and unloading areas and various vehicles lined up. The facility is gorgeous- plenty of fabulous art, spacious halls- very light feeling (unlike most hospitals). Hopefully we can keep dad out of the hospital, but he'll be back for surgery in the not too distant future! read more

The doctors I've seen there have been great but the prior authorization department is a joke. I'm having to reschedule a second MRI this year due to lack of obtaining a PA prior to my MRI. My next one is Monday the 21st but the PA wasn't submitted to insurance till 7/15 and since they didn't submit it asking for expedited review it's a 10-15 business day turnaround time according to Anthem. This was booked 3 months out due to needing full sedation. If you have any services that need PA, stay on them until they get it done. Done assume they're going to actually do their job read more
