Needed something for dessert so I did a Yelp search and found Sydney's. I'm usually skeptical of cupcake places because most times the cupcake is plain and only the frosting is flavored. But this place... Wow!! The display didn't have many cupcakes left when I walked in but I'm assuming it's because they sold them all. The strawberry banana and the caramel apple... Flavor sensation!! Beware of this bakery, very unprofessional and mismanaged. I visited this bakery 2 months before my event and sat down with Jermaine, we went over all the details for my party at least I thought we did. I was looking for a cake for a child's birthday party. First off he didn't have any pictures for us to view as examples he was basically googling other bakery's picture from his iPad to show us and stating that he would be able to create these cakes as an options (that should have been my warning sign). We placed the order for the cake as well as some cupcakes he took 50% of the total as a deposit, I paid him with my credit which he put through on his iPad but didn't generate a receipt and when I asked for one his said that everything was done electronically and that I would get one by email tonight. So I went home and went on with my life as usually then after about 3 days it dawned on me that I never received my emailed receipt so then I tried contacted them but of course this bakery is only opened 3 days a week so I had to wait until the days they were open to speak to someone. Finally I was able to reach jermaine and asked him about my receipt which he didn't apologized for and said something must be wrong with my email but he would send it again (nothing was wrong with my email, I even checked my junk folder it was never sent). Five minutes after we got off the phone it just happened to be sent to the email that he stated something was wrong with. 3 weeks before my event I reached out to them by email with the picture of the cake we decided on to confirm the details of everything since I placed the order such a long time before my event to make sure everything would be ok and the reply I got was UNBELIEVABLE, they stated that they would be able to place the cake order for me but they needed more details about the cake, how many people I needed it to feed and that I would need to come in to leave a deposit (WHAT!) so immediately I called them and spoke to Jermaine again and said what is going on I placed an order with u guys and now I'm emailing to confirm and it seems like you don't have my order on file, and again he stated something must be wrong with my email or maybe I'm using another email that they don't have on file, FYI I used they same email and furthermore I gave them details of my order in the email why wouldn't they check their records about the order before they responded? Long story short the day I came to pick up the cake it was suppose to be ready by certain time I came a hour later then when I was suppose to be there to give them extra time and of course my cake was NOT ready my husband and I waited 30 minutes for them to finish my cake ( I could hear them taking it out of the fridge and taking the toy decorations out of the bag and placing them on the cake) and when we asked why they cake was not ready yet since we came 1 hour later then when Jermaine said it would be ready for pick up we got a very RUDE response saying that we needed to be patient and that every minute he spends time answering our questions it will take longer for the guys in the back to get our cake out. Which made no sense at all since he claims he had other people in the back supposedly working on it. When the cake came finally came out it was NOT the way it was suppose to be, it was a child's birthday cake and it didn't even say happy birthday and when I asked why it didn't say happy birthday I got another nasty response "If you want the cake to say happy birthday you will have to wait another 5 minutes" even though when I placed the order I stated specially I want this cake to say Happy Birthday! When we finally left the store we arrived to the event 25 minutes late since we spent 45 minutes at this bakery, I will admit the cake was very pretty and everyone admired it. We placed the cake on the table and left it there for at least 3-4 hrs before it was cut. When the cake was served out to all the guest the cake was practically INEDIBLE the cake portion of the cake was almost rock hard and icing was solid as if it was sitting in the fridge for days SUCH a disappointment! The only thing that ok was the cupcakes and even still that was cold as if it was also in the fridge but at least it was softer. It pays to go to a well established bakery that has been doing this for a long time and does this everyday and not as a weekend hobby. Pay attention to the warning signs I've should have walked out the door the moment I went in and saw the mess of kids toys under the oven in the front and when he showed me pictures from other bakeries. This is my First order for a cake with them so please let the Truth be told! Sydney's sweets bakery would like for you to believe that I order cakes from them before to make it seem like I am a returning customer but I am not!!!! I came across this business by Yelp, noticed they had quite a gallery. I saw they had a few reviews compared to some other bakeries, which made me a little cautious, I figured I can get a quote and see how it goes. I went ahead and contacted them, sent over a picture of the cake I wanted, went over some details. Quote was very reasonable! I might add I was in a bit of a time crunch due to the party being a little over a week away, however they were able to squeeze me in. I thought the cake process was going to be a bit more stressful but Sydney's Sweets definitely understand that planning an event is stressful enough! They literally replicated the cake in the picture I sent! exactly the same!! And as far as taste it was AMAZING! Everyone ate the red velvet first, and then devoured the vanilla! Sydnie's Sweets was ok. I came here with my boyfriend after seeing a picture on their Instagram of Matcha Plum cupcakes. It was disappointing that when we got there, the cashier informed us they don't make those regularly and are only there sometime. I thought that was weird.. If there is going to be a flavor, shouldn't it be consistent? Anyway we proceeded to order the other flavors instead. I think I got the classic yellow cake with chocolate icing. It was really good! But it wasn't anything extraordinary. I like the cupcakes they have here, but they are just average. The ambience of the place isn't that special either, bland decorations and enough seating for everyone. Service was very friendly and prompt. So all in all, it was just average cupcakes and I am disappointed I didn't get to try the matcha one :( however, I would come back to Sydnie's Sweets if I was in the area! read more

I ordered cupcakes for a birthday party, initially i was a little torn with what i wanted and i communicated with Jermaine what i wanted the cupcakes to look like. I picked up my cupcakes on 7/28/18 and i have to say i was extremely disappointed with the final job.They looked extremely generic. I ordered 12 cupcakes which costed me $ 50. What i received looked like cupcakes from a low end supermarket. I emailed the owner and expressed my disappointment and he pretty much said i was confused and offered a $10.00 refund in which i have yet to receive. I've used this bakery before and had no issues, but the level of customer service i received was not ok. I was expecting the cupcakes to be nicely packaged but instead they were in a plastic holder, again i feel for $ 50 i would have received better presentation. This was my first time ordering so I appreciated his suggestions as we reviewed the menu which includes a variety of classic and signature flavors. Jermaine doesn't take good notes so I was worried I wouldn't get my order, he called 5 days before the pick up asking for all my info again because he lost it. When I went to pick up my cookies I had to wait because they made a mistake and started to individually bag them which I did not ask for and they realized it mid job. because the moved the cookies so much they smudge the icing decor. One guest found a small black hair in there macaroon. I will say besides all that the cookies did taste good and the cookies that weren't smudged looked beautiful. read more

So my friends and I were throwing a small bridal shower for my friend and ordered on the phone the cupcakes that make it look like a wedding dress.We worked out a price and I put down a deposit of half the bill on my card and I had no problem with the ordering. BUT on the day of the delivery which was the day of the bridal shower, the guy who came to deliver it said they needed to use 5 more cupcakes so they need to charge me another $20. I THOUGHT THAT WAS TOTALLY SHADY of him to tell me that right on the spot of the day of delivery. If they had called me beforehand, told me, and confirmed with me about it then I would have gladly said okay about the eatra $20 since I wouldn't have known how the cake exactly looks and I would have trusted their opinions... So anyways, of course I just paid them the extra $20 with the rest of the bill because the shower was only 2 hours away. I needed a change of $5 but was going to give that to him for tip but he didn't even ask me if I needed change back and just walked out the door which I thought that was rude. Then when I got upstairs to the apt, I saw the cake and it didn't even need the extra 5 cupcakes!!!! It would have looked perfectly fine without the 5 so I feel like I got charged extra $20 for no reason.... Cupcakes tasted fine besides the frosting being too a little too sweet for our taste.. Would I order from them again nos? most likely not unless I had no other option... So just a little heads up for the upcoming people who would like to order from them, make sure they don't pull anything SHADY like how they did to me and my friends!!!
