Charming, well kept, great location. My wife & I love this park. The price is very reasonable for what you get. We have the middle tiered slip for our 5th wheel. Water, sewer, 50amp. Really wide spots. Decent water pressure. The day we arrive, one of the owners escorts us to our slip. Literally the easiest time backing into a spot ever. He just says turn the wheel left/right, forward backward. Perfectly in the spot in 3 mins. I'm not even kidding. Saved me probably 20 mins of getting it just right. My wife and I love taking the doggo for a walk around the trail that circles the lakes. It's in l a small town west of Chicago. But there's so much here. I can ride my bike to the gym. Grocery store is less than 10 minutes. Bars and restaurants.

Our set up.

We absolutely love Sycamore RV Resort. We have been here twice now and always request a lake view spot. The beach was shallow enough for children, it's a basic beach with sea weed, fishies and sand with porta potties. There are two catch and release lakes if you should enjoy fishing. We walk our dogs all over, they love it. It is a very relaxing place for us and our two big dogs. Everyone we have come across is very friendly. We are only 50 minutes from home but it feels so removed and comfortable.

A friend recommended Sycamore RV Resort because she felt like they "got away", camping, kayaking and fishing within driving distance of Chicago suburbs. We went after Labor Day to go apple picking nearby so we weren't able to partake in activities or amenities (if offered) as it was after the prime camping season. However, I had a hard time imagining this place as an escape. The entrance is not marked so you might want to use GPS to know you're coming upon the turn or you'll drive right past. You turn in between a couple businesses/restaurant and drive up a path past a few large silos. Nothing wrong there...just odd. I can understand why other reviews spoke negatively about the owners. We didn't meet the female owner but checked in with the man instead. He wasn't nasty or rude by any means, rather acted as if it was a hassle to check us in, get a bundle of wood, show us the campsite. Lots of sighs and a couple of "well my wife usually takes care of that but since she's not here...". Not a warm welcome. The campsites blended together into one large gravel parking lot with no trees or grass separating the sites. No room in between and ZERO ZERO ZERO privacy. The bathroom was clean but it's only one toilet and sink. Showers were also clean. They ask you to put a $10 deposit down to use a key card to access the inside of building with showers but otherwise showers are free. The kids took advantage of the sand volleyball court but when we asked the owner if they had a ball we could use, he sighed and said yes (as if we were bothering him again). We didn't ask him to deliver the damn thing...just if we could use it. :) The beach area (surrounded by chain link fenced but closed for season) was a good walk away from the RV sites. To get there you pass the only nice area of the campground (in my opinion) that had grass and tree coverage and, I believe, reserved for tents only. We continued on the path all the way around the lake/pond and that was a nice walk. I wouldn't return simply because this was not camping to me. It was a parking lot with nothing to do. And a parking lot is not "getting away". I gave 3 stars rather than 2 because it is clean and tidy.

Sites flat. Trees. Well maintained. Accommodated our rig plus trailer and plant staff.

Now that I've been a camper here and not just a tree-hugger wandering through the forest, I figured…read moreit's time for an update! I still love this place.... but it doesn't rank as high in my favorites anymore as I've fallen in love with other places. Still, this is a really nice campground and is nearly packed on summer weekends. PROS: + primitive campsites available as well as full hook-ups and equestrian sites. + all RV campsites are cement/blacktop and mostly level. + bathrooms available -- both outhouses and flush toilets. + plenty of walking trails. + a little pond to go fishing. + close enough to shopping/dining/hospital/etc. + relatively low daily rates ($25/night RV sites. Kane County residents - $15/night.) + firewood available for sale at $5 a bundle. + sites near the woods, near the fields, and a couple pull-throughs! + two dump sites available ($15 to dump if you're not staying at the campground) + pretty much the closest RV campsite to Chicago. CONS: - no showers. - no extra amenities (pool, games, etc.). - several of the parking sites are not level. - employees are hit or miss. one woman was particularly rude to me. - too close to civilization. - first-come, first serve. no reservations. - maximum stay of 7 days. 14 days within 21 days. My husband and I have been staying at Paul Wolff and Big Rock (another Kane County campground) for a month and a half. Because of the rules regarding maximum length of stay, we've simply been staying back and forth at both sites for two weeks at a time. It's acceptable (and sort of encouraged by employees). So, if you're a full-timer that wants to stay in the Chicago area for the summer, this arrangement works out nicely if you don't mind moving every two weeks. Happy trails, my friends!

It is easily accessible and right down the street from several shops on Randall rd. The sites are level. There are two parts, apparently old and new. We stayed a week in nights the new part... it is open and close to forest preserve trail heads. The old, shaded and a bit more compact. Now... their water is RUSTY!! It turned out camco filter brown. Make sure you have a filtration system and a good one at that's you can't drink the water even though you can drink the water. There are pit toilets but no showers. 10 primitive hike in sites. 70 ish sites for rvs. It is quiet and no one bothered us. Mid week it is basically empty. I'm not sure if we would use this campsite again if we had the opportunity. The water was a huge bummer.

They unfortunately had been hit with tons of rain lately so some areas were flooded. Certainly not their fault. But the smell wasn't pleasant near the flooding. The kids loved the lake. I'm not a fan of not seeing my feet in the water so I stayed to the shallow end to cool off. There were free paddle boats and kayaks. They even had free life jackets for all 4 kids which made me so happy. It is not a place we would want to have a permanent site but it's not a long drive from home and for a quick last minute camping trip we would come again. It definitely had more of a overnight, passing through feel than other places that feel more cozy.

I am including a few photos of aforementioned. You can come to your own conclusion. We left after 5 nights of our prepaid, non refundable 2 weeks ($840) when both of our vehicles were vandalized. The park also may want to put a stop to the, in my opinion, creepster in the blue mini cooper who thinks he's Roscoe P. Coltrain. Hes not doing the park any favors. And I see he's been awarded a few mentions in other peoples reviews as well.

We decided on a deluxe site with a concrete patio, a fire pit and a picnic table and it was $70 per night. They use camp spot so you will pay an additional five dollar fee for that registration. Others have mentioned they are pretty strict that if you arrive early will be charged $15 since they need to recover electric and water charges. They did not charge us this for our early arrival, so maybe somebody was having a good day. There is a camp store that looks like they have quite a few snack options when we arrived they were serving barbecue sandwiches from 1 to 5 as well as a bingo game. They also let us know for Father's Day weekend. They would have live music by the water feature from 6 to 8 and the band is actually pretty good tonight! The fire pit on our side is in a weird location and is kind of closer to our neighbors than us so we probably won't be using that There is a fantastic pool here as well as a bounce house and kids have been enjoying it all day We love that the sites are nice and wide so you are not directly on top of your neighbor, although if I had the option, I would probably ask for a site in the back farthest part of the park away from all the noise I would highly recommend one of the spots with a concrete pad as when it rains here it gets pretty muddy. We had a big storm last night and I am very happy we paid extra for the concrete.
