Park is well kept up overall though public restrooms need a good facelift. Seasonal pricing is a bit on the high side IMHO. Staff is nice.

If it was deluxe I'd hate to see what the regular one looked like. The cottage aka trailer was filthy. Couches ripped. Floor so dirty we had to keep our shoes on. And, oh the smell! The sulfur, rotten egg smell of the water was making us gag. Get a water softer if you're marketing it as deluxe. Let's talk about the staff-- RUDE. Wait, the maintenance guys were great, considering when we got there we had no running water and they turned it on which we later regretted (remember the smell!?!) But that's where ends....we were inside for the evening when this angry staff person barged into the cottage. She did not knock. She did not introduce herself. She just yelled at us to move our car...which, mind you was parked where another staff person told us to park. When we kindly informed her of that fact -- she did not apologize. She did not ask us how we were enjoying our stay. She just yelled that they (staff) needed to communicate and stomped off. Despite having the not-so deluxe accommodations, we did have a wonderful time together enjoying each other's company. And in the end that's what it's all about.

I am including a few photos of aforementioned. You can come to your own conclusion. We left after 5 nights of our prepaid, non refundable 2 weeks ($840) when both of our vehicles were vandalized. The park also may want to put a stop to the, in my opinion, creepster in the blue mini cooper who thinks he's Roscoe P. Coltrain. Hes not doing the park any favors. And I see he's been awarded a few mentions in other peoples reviews as well.

I had found this place searching online for nearby state parks that weren't TOO far of a drive and still had ample hiking trails. The park was easy to find, had plenty of parking and lots of paved and dirt trails for both hiking and biking. Picnic areas scattered throughout and a nice large lake for fishing/boating/canoeing (there were prices posted in the concessions area for renting a boat with motor for the day as well if you don't have your own to bring with you!) Small selection of snacks and beverages (non-alcoholic) were available for purchase, however they did not have any paper maps (there were boards posted by trail entrances and we did take photos of those). It looks like there is a restaurant next to the concessions area that opens after Memorial Day weekend for the season. We saw and heard many different birds while hiking and it was very peaceful (and not very crowded, as we were here on a Tuesday). My husband particularly enjoyed seeing the turkeys roaming around

We have been thinking about getting a seasonal lot, however after renting a golf cart & driving around the campground several times, we were saddened to see so many completely neglected campsites. Lawns that were in need of mowing and string trimming and campers that were moldy and long past their prime. We really wanted to like this campground a lot more due to the positive reviews, but sorry to say, this was a HUGE turn off for us. Because of this, we will look at other locations for a seasonal site.
