Wow, I've lived near this place for many years but am sadly for all the missed opportunities where I could have eaten here. To begin, I found a Groupon for this restaurant since they are normal closed and I figured at Groupon would force me to try this location after driving passed here for many years. Last night was the night that my wife and I de excited to try this location after a little shopping around We arrived a little after 4 and although all website searches said it opens at 430, we were able to enter and start eating. The waitress introduced us right away and talked about all their special items. Let me tell you, this menu seemed a little classier than your typical sushi restaurant just based on those specials like live lobster or live octopus. We decided to order an appetizer but the waitress also stopped by to give us a few free samples. The sushi was amazing. I've always known that all sushi normally taste the same but differs by what going in and in what order. However, this location was different... all of them are unique. Came here on a Saturday night without any reservations. We waited about 20 mins for a table for me and my buddy. The place actually was a little more crowded than I would've liked but it wasn't too bad. They did seat us at a table along the main path to/from the restaurant and the kitchen. Due to Covid, they should really think about not seating anyone at those tables. I was a little apprehensive since I was the one closest to the path. But everyone was wearing masks so I'm sure I'm ok. The staff was very friendly. We met one of the bus boys since I was drinking a lot of water and he kept filling up my water. Thanks Harvey! The sushi was very good. We had the California and Dragon rolls, Scary Spider Maki and the fried calamari appetizers. Everything was delicious. I really liked the Scary spider. I visited Swordfish on a Thursday night. We were sat quickly. All of the fish was fresh and delicious. The staff was super nice. We had a group of about 8 people. They took very good care of us. They ended up giving us several apps on the house. They had a nice bar selection, along with a decent sake selection. read more

I ordered from here and was very pleased. I got a spicy roll special, and a ginger salad delivered to me. Both were delicious! The food came quickly and they included some extras I wasn't expecting. First, they sent a miso soup which was still steaming hot. Second they sent a tempura banana dessert compliments of the chef. I've never received anything like that and I thought that was a great touch for my first time ordering from there. Would definitely order from here again and I highly recommend. read more

We were prepared for a special evening to celebrate a birthday, having read and heard great reviews. But the best thing we could say after spending over $100 was the jasmine tea was nice. The sushi rice was among the worst we've ever had anywhere; it was dry and poorly seasoned, and like much American sushi that wants to wow its diners, it disguises poor quality by drowning the stars--the fish and the rice--in a mountain of sauces. Our servers were very nice. The children being entertained with balloon animals were having a great time. People leaving reviews certainly like the place so we will leave them all to enjoy. But if deliciously seasoned, expertly textured rice and melt-in-your mouth quality cuts are what you care about most, this is not the best choice for the Fox Valley area. Wish we could have left a better review--but for those who like lots of colorful sauces and pretty display (and nice servers--they really deserve credit), then enjoy! read more

Went to Swordfish with my husband, I frequently go here as there are not many quality sushi restaurants in the area. One of my favorite rolls is the Ocean's 13...it's very light and with refreshing flavors. This time I also got the Moon River and Dragon Fire II rolls. Highly recommend if you are looking for a local sushi restaurant with fresh seafood. It is very convenient to go to this location in Batavia instead of going downtown to Chicago. read more

This restaurant is an unpretentious sushi place but when the order was presented on our table, the caring cultivated Japanese flair was evident. It made the delightful array of sushi so delicious even when I decided not to use soy sauce, pickled ginger or wasabi. The service was excellent and its helped knowing that our server was our first-born granddaughter Kylia Waltmire who turned out they way she always has been, thoughtful and attentive. Tried Swordfish for the first time yesterday. It was a Friday night 6.15 reservation. The place is large and looks nice. The menu is a book. Never been to a sushi restaurant with a menu so large. That seemed good. Took a long time to order, server seemed out of sorts. I guess there were specials, never got told that or saw that menu. Appetizers came out at different times. No problem. The cold sashimi was great. The hot lobster dish was barely warm. Tasted good. No drink refills, no stop by from server, when we got the main meal asked for drink refills, never came. Sushi was average. Server never stopped by again after. Had to ask front hostess for our bill. It was crowded, seemed appropriately staffed. Service was bad. Food average. Not going back and thats a shame as we wanted this place to be great. read more

Called in a to go order this evening and was surprised that it was ready as soon as we got there. I don't typically leave a tip for to go order, but that was a mistake. Swordfish staff prepared the most beautiful to go order for me. I ordered a sake don and a salmon poke bowl. We got all of the sides as well and a special treat from the chef(banana tempura). Celebrating 14 years . We celebrated at Swordfish - first time there with unexpected treatment, a shrimp sushi roll compliments of the owners and white tuna topped by truffle compliments from the Sushi Bar. Also complimentary desert with two burning candles. We were sent home with a framed photo with balloon swords . Our waiter was a robot . ... or actually our waiter was assisted by a robot. I just brought my son (9yo) here for a "special lunch" and swordfish made it extra special! It wasn't crowded at lunchtime, and a robot showed us to our seat and brought us food. My son was in heaven! The sushi was amazing! He had California rolls, which he loved. I had salmon avo rolls and a specialty roll. Delicious! Huge pieces of high quality salmon in the rolls, and it was served with some dry ice in little shot glasses- magic! The server was so wonderful and kind. I think her name was Bradey- I apologize if I'm wrong! She brought us a delicious free dessert too! My son told us it was "the best meal he ever had." Wow!!! I have ordered a handful of times via Uber Eats and each time everything I try is even better! Their quality is spot on. The best part is that they send you "on the house" items for you to try. Such great food and experience!! Lunch at the !!!! I had the sushi shishimk lunch special Super White tuna the Su chef made me with truffle oil and truffle zest and torched it sligtly... he made my favorite shishimi better?!? I couldn't believe it! The entire experience was great. The food is about average but I will never return based on how I was treated. I purchased a Groupon to get $20 off my $150 carryout purchase. They said it can only be used for eat in and refused to accept it. They literally said "it's not our fault" and "read the fine print." There are better choices that are a further drive (Shakou) that are now worth it. I will not ever return even given how much more convenient it is. read more

If you have people in your group that don't like sushi, Swordfish has very good entree options. PS the salad dressing is pretty tasty and you can purchase it by the bottle to take with your to go.
