I don't care, I like sushi pirate. Yes the ambiance is lackluster to say the least, it's never very crowded when I come here to eat. It's like a hole in the wall restaurant, but for sushi. I come here for two reasons only. The prices and the fresh sushi. They always have little promotions going on and the sushi has always been fresh and tasty. The staff is usually very limited, but it works out because there's never more than 3 different parties there at a time. Many times you may be the only party. The service is decent, it isn't exceptional. Would I recommend you bring a date you really want to impress here? Of course not but, if you are hungry and want something good and cheap this is your place!

I held off from trying Sushi Pirate even though it's one of the few options for sushi and Japanese cuisine available in West Aurora for a while because I had heard mixed reviews and didn't want to take the chance on spending a lot only to be disappointed. But I finally decided to give them a try tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered delivery around 8:24 but didn't realize that their cutoff was 8:30pm until after I had placed it so I was a little worried that I might get the last bits of things from the day but everything I ordered tasted great and very fresh. I ordered a seaweed salad and two signature rolls, the Passion Love and Cubs. It was actually pretty difficult to choose as a number of their offerings sounded really good but I was happy with my choices. The Passion Love is great for fish lovers as it comes with yellowtail, super white tuna, and red snapper along with jalapeño, lime slices and sweet ponzu. Very refreshing and tasty! The Cubs roll features seared Cajun salmon, tuna, avocado, jalapeno slices and wasabi Mayo with fish eggs and it was excellent too. Although I can't speak for what it's like dining in at the restaurant I would definitely consider it given how good the take out quality is and will most likely order from here again in the future.

I placed an order to go and let them know that I had two Littles that were very hungry and they were very quick to get our order ready!! Great service.

I've been ordering takeout/delivery from Sushi Pirate for years. 10+ now, maybe? (omg I'm old) I believe it changed hands within the last year or so but the quality has remained the same. To be completely transparent, I've never been wowed by their sushi but I've also never been disappointed either. My parents and I get together every week for "sushi Fridays" and today for whatever reason we couldn't order delivery from them thru the dash/uber apps (probably because of high traffic, totally understandable) so we went with another sushi place in the area that had decent reviews. We were all kinda bummed while we were eating.. we asked questions like "is this good? I dono, it's just different. It's ok but it's not sushi pirate good!" If I've learned anything tonight it's that sushi doesn't have to wow you, it just has to hit that spot every time! Sushi pirate has consistently hit the spot for me over the years. If you're on the fence please give them a try! Also the crazy jalapeño app is a chef's kiss, try it!

This is the perfect place for a more casual sushi date. It's not super fancy but the sushi is still high quality and the service is great. We started with some miso soup which hit the spot. It was the perfect temperature and full of flavor. We also tried the California roll, dragon roll & perfect match roll. They all tasted great but we both agreed the perfect match was our favorite!

My daughter and I are obsessed with this place! The prices are reasonable and the food comes out amazing every time!

I would give Sushi Pirate a 4/10 total rating. We have eaten at a lot of sushi places in the past 15 years and this was on the lower end. Right when we walked in at 5:30 on a Saturday evening and there were no customers, I should have known it wasn't the best food. Since we were the only ones there, I expected the service to be great. It was decent but not the best. The appetizer was very good. Best part of the meal. The sushi itself had very little flavor and lacked any wow factor for the price it had. I would not recommend.

Cub's Roll, spicy salmon roll, sweet shrimp sushi, and squid sushi.

The service was fast and great! Price-wise it is a little expensive but everything tasted good. I got the Cubs roll and the spicy salmon roll along with the sweet shrimp sushi in the squid sushi. In total, that was $30. I highly recommend the Cubs roll!

Great, cozy restaurant. Food was really good and fresh with good portion sizes. The flavored Saki was also great. There appeared to only be 1 waitress who was a bit rushed but that did not seem to stall the service at all. The food came to our table fresh. There are many options at various price points. If you don't like sushi they also sell chicken and beef fried rice that is not soaked in soy sauce and includes light vegetables. My 1st time going was March and we've already returned again in March for takeout.

One both sides is the dragon roll. Top to bottom of the center: godzilla roll, crispy eal roll(I think that's the name), rock and roll.

It was my first visit to your restaurant though my wife has been here before with friends. Chad was our server. He pleasantly explained the drink and dining menus and took good care of us all evening. My bride had her favorite drink, The French Martini, and you guys nailed it for her! I was very happy with the 2025 Pils. Dinner was amazing, Skirt steak for her, brisket for me with Yukon potatoes following salads for both of us. The quality and taste of the food was great and makes us want to come back and sample other dishes. We received great service and a nice complimentary glass of champagne (with Ho-Ho's) to finish our celebration. At the end of the evening we received a big surprise when Chad came over with news that we had no bill to pay as my wife's daughter and her husband had secretly called to pay the tab! So thoughtful of them to treat us and to top off a memorable meal and milestone in our lives.

Bar program is strong. The short rib pot pie was a straight up winner. Rich, comforting, and not trying to be anything other than good food done right. The bone marrow lost me. Cooked well, but buried under too many microgreens and then oddly topped with tortilla chip strips. No smokiness either. It felt more confused than cohesive. Where it really started to miss was the overall approach. A lot of "the chef intends this..." type explanations. It ends up feeling like the food insists upon itself instead of just letting you enjoy it. That's the bigger issue. This place exists in a space where I don't think most people want to meet it. Not casual enough to relax, not refined enough to justify the performance. Bottom line: good drinks, great pot pie, but the experience tries a little too hard.

There's people wanting to try sushi but they won't want to go to those fancy places and get some exquisite stuff. Actually there's much better places than here and it's about the same prices. There's places that have pretty cheap lunch specials. Anyway, it's pretty much beginner level sushi here. It's about $7 for the fruit tea. Has many to choose from including kiwi. It's about $6 for the Avocado Roll. This is a basic one with rice and seaweed. Has sushi for those on a budget, and for those in a hurry. It's closed Mondays. The quality actually is better than expected, and there's plenty of choices for vegans and vegetarians.
