I have found a new favorite spot!! This diamond of a sushi spot is sitting cozy in mini shopping area of north Aurora. The restaurant is clean, quiet and spacious. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a chirpy hello and the ability to sit anywhere. I was studying this particular day, so I was able to sit at a table near a plug. Due to me having to use 3 different screens, the waiter advised me to move to a bigger table with a plug! There were only about 3 employees in the restaurant, but the server didn't miss a beat. She was kind and efficient in making sure they each customer was served appropriately. The sushi is phenomenal! I enjoyed the Godzilla roll the most. Although I ordered the dragon roll, it seemed that the crunch on the roll was cooked a bit too long. With both rolls (10 pieces each), a glass of water....I only spent $33. I will be visiting this spot at least weekly. read more

I don't care, I like sushi pirate. Yes the ambiance is lackluster to say the least, it's never very crowded when I come here to eat. It's like a hole in the wall restaurant, but for sushi. I come here for two reasons only. The prices and the fresh sushi. They always have little promotions going on and the sushi has always been fresh and tasty. The staff is usually very limited, but it works out because there's never more than 3 different parties there at a time. Many times you may be the only party. The service is decent, it isn't exceptional. Would I recommend you bring a date you really want to impress here? I held off from trying Sushi Pirate even though it's one of the few options for sushi and Japanese cuisine available in West Aurora for a while because I had heard mixed reviews and didn't want to take the chance on spending a lot only to be disappointed. But I finally decided to give them a try tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered delivery around 8:24 but didn't realize that their cutoff was 8:30pm until after I had placed it so I was a little worried that I might get the last bits of things from the day but everything I ordered tasted great and very fresh. I ordered a seaweed salad and two signature rolls, the Passion Love and Cubs. It was actually pretty difficult to choose as a number of their offerings sounded really good but I was happy with my choices. The Passion Love is great for fish lovers as it comes with yellowtail, super white tuna, and red snapper along with jalapeño, lime slices and sweet ponzu. Very refreshing and tasty! The Cubs roll features seared Cajun salmon, tuna, avocado, jalapeno slices and wasabi Mayo with fish eggs and it was excellent too. Although I can't speak for what it's like dining in at the restaurant I would definitely consider it given how good the take out quality is and will most likely order from here again in the future. read more

Right when we walked in at 5:30 on a Saturday evening and there were no customers, I should have known it wasn't the best food. Since we were the only ones there, I expected the service to be great. We walked in and the woman behind the counter yelled across the dining room here or to go, she then pointed to a booth right in front walked over tossed menus on the table and rushed back behind the counter. By 7:30 it was very busy, all tables were taken and they had people picking up to-go orders throughout the time we where there. The restaurant is small(ish) with a sushi bar, 4 booths, and 4 tables. There were so many items on the menu that sounded amazing. We ended up ordering 4 rolls. We alway order the godzilla roll from every sushi restaurant we try. This was this first time we didn't love that roll, it wasn't bad just not as good as others we had tried and fell very short compared to the 3 other rolls we ordered. Probably my favorite sushi joint in North Aurora! It's close to the Orchard Gateway Blvd shopping area so it's convenient after running errands. I really enjoy the location because the customer service is awesome and the food is legit! I will judge a sushi place off of their basic rolls. I consider shrimp tempura basic. It's my fave basic roll so I would order that and try a signature roll or two. The presentation is so nice as well.
