As for The Wild Detectives, the concept alone immediately appealed to me...bookstore meets cafe meets bar meets restaurant. That combination will pretty much always grab my attention. I love to read, I love to eat. The space has a pretty relaxed, community oriented vibe, and during my Saturday morning/early afternoon visit, there were plenty of people working, reading, chatting, and hanging out both inside and on the patio. My one slight disappointment was that the bookstore side itself was smaller than I expected and didn't have quite as extensive a selection as I had imagined. We then left together. At no point did I think simply waiting in the car while my wife was inside the restaurant would result in a $97 parking bill from Parking Revenue Recovery Services (PRRS). The signage only indicated it was Cafe Brazil parking, and there was nothing that clearly made me think I needed to register my vehicle just to sit in the car while waiting for a paying customer. This feels extremely misleading and unfriendly to actual customers. To make matters worse, the dispute process is incredibly frustrating. Their website requires agreeing to Terms of Service just to dispute the charge, and when my wife called PRRS, the automated system said she was 115th in line. There appears to be no reasonable or customer-friendly way to contest this without wasting a huge amount of time. This experience left a very negative impression.
