There weren't many people in there, maybe two, so I could sit and relax a while. It took a long time for my drink to get served, so was looking forward to tasting their coffee. This was a big letdown. The coffee itself was lukewarm and lacked any sort of rich flavor, as if there was barely any espresso in there at all. After an even longer wait, my sandwich was brought out, which sealed all my thoughts on the place. The sandwich was barely warm; there was a thick piece of cheese on there that wasn't even melted (I presume due to the lack of heat). I can't even remember if I finished either of the things I ordered, but I quickly packed up and left. This was the reason I didn't remember the place as its coffee and food are forgettable. It's a shame as the location, size, and décor all work well. I will not be returning.

Sonic has been adding cranberry flavor shots in my Sprite for years, Shirley Temples are a classic, cream soda is still underrated, and most importantly, soda shops were born at the start of the 20th century (That's the 1900s, btw). All the pieces to Swig's success have been pieces of American culture for years, but Swig is currently one of the most desired chains through the United States. What could it possibly bring to Hutto? Swig is an inherently Mormon concept. The chain was founded by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints due to their religious abstention from coffee, tea, and alcohol. Because of these beliefs, the common "sweet treat" establishments of Starbucks, Dutch Bros, HTeaO (Texas STAND UP), and I guess I'll throw Dunkin' in there cannot solely exist in a heavily congregated LDS district like Utah. What will the students of BYU get in 44 fluid ounces before class? A big gulp doesn't cut it anymore. If a God-loving American citizen can get 7 pumps of vanilla in their coffee with sweet cream, why can't the Mormons do that with their Diet Coke? That thought birthed a nearly $2 billion-dollar soda-fountain chain that is rapidly expanding with a plan to open 500 new stores over the next five years. I think it's good for everyone to have something. You don't have to be a member of the church to go to Swig. Swig was built on a desire to provide a niche every other 20-year-old can have. Now, 20-year-olds of all kinds are flocking to Swig as their sweet treat of choice. I write all of this with a skeptical predisposition to say: I do like the flavor profiles presented in dirty sodas. A Sprite with lime, raspberry, and cranberry is next level stuff in my opinion. That brings me to right now as I write this review standing inside the newly opened Swig of Hutto during their soft launch as cars sit in the never-ending drive-thru line to try a drink. I am not better than anyone in Hutto. I get carried away by the hype. I just feel better because I write words about it. I ordered two drinks. One for me and one for my coworker. Something fun! Hula Girl. Sprite with lemonade, mango, pineapple, strawberry, and coconut cream. The team inside was managing the rush of a beloved franchise opening in a new location as best they could. It didn't take long at all to get my drinks out and the guy who took my order was very friendly and inviting. I was the only person inside while the line outside seemed to be never ending. That's a strategy for you. The drink itself is sugary, which comes as a shock to absolutely no one. Man, it was pretty good though. The Sprite adds the fizz while the lemonade and cream add this sweetness to the equation and all the fruit mixes pair well on top of it. It all makes sense. I understand it now. It's fun and exciting. In the summer that's all you want. This is a perfect stop for families as long as they're mindful of how much sugar some of these drinks might have. The inside isn't really anything special, but I bet 90% of their traffic comes from the drive-thru, so other than a menu, a logo, and a few places to sit, that's all you need. Dutch Bros and 7 Brew sometimes don't even have a walk up window and operate solely on the drive-thru, so that's a benefit. I don't think this review will change your desire for Swig.
