What happened to this once great company?…read more When I first moved down to Florida, I used Island Air for all of my AC needs. I replaced a system and had quite a few service calls at all the homes I resided in. Always a great experience. The techs were professional and knowledgeable and the office staff was always quick about scheduling. Now? They're never available. I wanted to sign up for an annual maintenance plan and they told me they're booking out to November. It's August. Service calls? Techs are never available in a reasonable time frame and their advertised 24/7 on call service doesn't actually exist. My AC was out on a Friday not too long ago and I was told I couldn't get service until the following Monday. 2.5 days in a sauna, yeah OK boys, I think I'll pass! Anyway, as they literally are unable to provide me with any of the services I've recently needed, I have to update my review and move forward with some other great companies I've found. Good luck if you use them.

Today I had to pay another place $367 to clear a clogged drain line on 1 of the 4 they supposedly did. when I called Island Air they said it's not their fault and suggested I pay them do a quarterly service instead on semi-annual . . . The repair tech today said it clearly hasn't been cleaned in quite a while. So, if you love paying service fees without having them do actual work, this is your place.

I'd give AR Williams a mixed but fair review…read more I initially called because I have a 7 to 8 year old Mitsubishi mini split in my garage that had stopped cooling. After calling several other HVAC companies that weren't interested in working on a mini split, someone else in the construction industry recommended AR Williams. When I first called, I was told they generally don't work on mini splits either. After explaining that I also had a conventional split system in my house that needed attention and that I wasn't interested in hiring two different companies, they agreed to come out and look at both systems. The technician who came out was excellent. He was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain what he was seeing. He quickly determined that the mini split had lost its refrigerant charge. After adding R-410A, we were immediately able to hear the leak coming from the indoor head unit, confirming the system had a refrigerant leak. At that point, he discussed replacement options. They preferred replacing the system rather than repairing an older R-410A unit, while I decided I'd rather look into sourcing a replacement indoor head myself. My only real complaint is the pricing model. The technician spent roughly an hour and a half at my house, and the bill came to just over $600. Coming from the construction and service industry myself, I'm accustomed to straightforward hourly labor plus material markup. AR Williams uses flat-rate, software-based pricing where each task has a predetermined price regardless of how long it takes or the actual material cost. That's simply not a pricing model I'm personally comfortable with. I don't have any complaints about the technician or the professionalism of the visit. In fact, I'd happily have him back. My decision not to use AR Williams again is based solely on their pricing structure, not the quality of the people they employ. If you're comfortable with flat-rate pricing, you may have a different experience than I did. It just isn't the right fit for me.

First setting the appointment was a breeze with an instant text confirmation. I received a confirmation text when the tech was enroute. Tech was friendly and knowledgeable. He explained the issue and how he would fix it. This was a new home I bought 7 months ago and the previous owner apparently didn't do many services on the unit. He thoroughly cleaned growth that was discovered which I absolutely appreciated as my son has allergies. He called the owner "Adam" to get some pricing for a new unit installation. This ac of mine is 11 years old. So, it will be time to replace. The tech had me up and running within 30 minutes. System needed a flush to drain the pipes. Needed a cleaning. All done for a super reasonable price. They offered me about 8 options for a new AC unit and handled that ranged for Savings to super delux but did not push for a sale. Simply explained the benefits of each system. They honestly didn't have an issue recommending and suggesting a cost savings unit. So they aren't trying to bleed you dry by selling you expensive things you don't need. I greatly appreciate that. Lastly, this company is out of Lake Worth in West Palm Beach and I'm in Port Saint Lucie. They have no issues driving the hour to reach me. If you have an AC issue and want a friendly company that you can trust, give this company a call. Honest, professional , and very reasonably priced. I will use them any chance I get. Thank you to all involved and looking forward to staying cool this summer.

I was told it was my imagination and that perhaps I wasn't feeling well. That was incredibly frustrating and dismissive. Less than a year later, I called again for the same issue--again I was told I was imagining it. Three months later, in the middle of summer, I had no air conditioning. This time there was no denying the problem--it was 88 degrees inside my home. The diagnosis was that the coils needed to be replaced. The stress of waiting to see if Air Ref would cover the labor was immense, but thankfully Trane ultimately picked up the bill. Then, just two months later, the compressor failed. Again, I had to hold my breath to see if Trane would pick up the charge because Air Ref would not. I was so relieved that Trane did. During an unusually cold Florida winter this year, my heat also stopped working. Air Ref was happy to come out and bill me for service. I decided to dress in layers. They would not acknowledge this brand new system that has repeatedly failed. They said, Trane will not do anything else. I am writing this review on a day when it is 92 degrees outside, with a heat index of around 110 degrees, and once again my air conditioner is not working.

Even though we are on the ocean our units lasted for their full warranty period of ten years or more! First we went with TRANE ACs and then to Carrier ACs and now back to TRANE units. Our units were "coastalized" by Corrosive Solutions of Boynton Beach. Our success is due to our AIRREF Co. customer service rep Mike Beamer who has guided us throughout the process of selecting units and meeting requirements for our condo rooftop installations. Mike and his company set the high water mark for great customer service!
