It's outrages that no one has even contacted me to update when the part will be in and my system will be operational. The initial appointment went very well. Patrick serviced the AC unit at my house and was professional and didn't try to pressure me to do or buy more of anything. After that, the service went downhill. The next two encounters were with phone reps. It amazes me that reps these days treat customers as if the customer is bothering them, or make us feel that THEY are doing Us a favor by taking our money. The most recent call was about 2 minutes ago, during which the woman let me know that the company does not clean ducts, and when I asked for a list of services offered, responded with, "It depends on what you're doing." how does that make any sense? Do restaurants say that their menu depends on what you're eating? No. I'm guessing that she didn't have an answer, and when it was posted out to her, she got defensive and tried to make me feel dumb. Companies are so desperate for workers that they are hiring anyone to man the phones, even people who either A. Don't care about the company, or B. Don't care about its customers. Cool Bear came out and did the old "Bait and Switch" and totally cut COSTCO out of the deal. 88F in my house now, full/new installatoion of a Lennox system, not even 1 year old,. Had a tech come out to see why my AC shut off, said it was moisture in the water overflow sensor. Explained his experience suggested a bit more angle on the sensor and a mixture of 50/50 bleach and water every 30 days would clear it up, stop dirt from fouling the water drain lines. So I get home tonight and find 88F in my house. Behind the air filter I find a brand new catch pan with no drain loaded with water and a second water sensor, triggered, loaded with water. Calling Cool Bear was told I had to wait until Wednesday for a tech to respond or pay $200 for an emergency response! Not even 1 year old!!! Buyer beware of Cool Bear. read more

Honestly, If I could leave 0 stars I would. A few years ago they installed a new unit for us. Everything was great, they were quick to schedule and come out and do the replacement. I was grateful for that as our old A/C went down just as our son was born. September 12 our a/c stopped cooling. I had a family friend (HVAC certified) come out to look at it. There was evidence of a freon leak and he died the system to pin point the leak. The dye indicated that the leak was coming from the coil. Since it was recently replaced and had a parts warranty he said I should call the installer. So I called the installer (cool bear) to do a warranty replacement. They charge me $130 to come and look at it, I was in the auto industry and understand they have to verify the cause, that doesn't bother me. Once the tech got here though, this is where the problems start. I told him about the coil naturally, but expected him to go through his check list (as a tech you never take your customer's word or assume anything)....he didn't. Went straight to the coil, checked with his black light, confirmed the leak from there, and did nothing else. My wife even asked if he was going to double check the pressures or check anything else. He said no and that they'll send an estimate for the repair. A few days pass and we never got the estimate till I actually called asking for it. They sent it to me and they proposed $1900 for labor to do the replacement....the unit installed and old unit removed was $5,000. I'm instantly skeptical as that's almost half the cost just to replace one part. I call around and get several quotes for half that. I still gave them the benefit of the doubt and called to clarify if they were putting the cost of the part on the estimate as part of the repair (the part is covered under warranty and shouldn't be included in their estimate). They said they would get back to me and let me know by the end of the day. That was on September 19....I still haven't heard from them. I found a completely different company to look at the same day (no charge), agree to do it for half the price, and they've come out every two-three days to top off the freon (no additional charge) to keep the unit cooling till the back order part arrived. In all my years on this Earth, this company was able to show me what I thought wouldn't be possible, what it feels like to have someone who could care less about their customer's and their needs. I WILL NEVER, EVER, DO business with them, even if they were the last company on the face of the planet. I would die of heat stroke in a pool of my own bodily fluids before giving them a single dime again. read more

Cool Bear is provider for Costco and as a Costco member I approached them for an estimate for a new 5 ton AC for my home as I needed a new unit . They sent a fast talking tech who was just trying to up sell me on every thing . Costco had a 15 % rebate special going on at the time . He only calculated 10% plus assumed that I had a VISA from Costco so I was gonna get 2 % at the of the year from Costco . By the way I do not have Costco credit card . In the end not only there was no advantage in getting the AC with Costco discount from Cool Bear the estimate was one of the highest from the 5 companies I contacted for the exact same rated AC. Go Figure Not sure why Costco would recommend such a lousy low rated company . My experience with them was terrible . Costco asked them to come and give me a revised estimate. They scheduled a time and day but NEVER showed up or called . I wasted a day from work and lost lot of money . So be ware stay away from these fast talking people . read more

Oh man where to start. First they initially No called no showed. I called and they showed up an hour past their show time. Can barely get in touch with them. 95% of the time it's their answering service. Got a quote from them through Fortifi for the PACE program. Didn't even think to look at their Costco pricing. A friend of mine went through Costco. Exact same system, $6500 less. He's also a man so I guess being a woman he thought he could scam me. Also installed an 8kw heat strip when I was quoted for a 10kW strip. PACE contractors are supposed to sell at fair market value. This is not fair market value. This is significantly more than fair market value. No similar systems to compare to. The rep that came out is a crook and a liar. Even claimed he was a commercial pilot. Checked his airmen records - he's definitely not. They did not pull a permit, hell I didn't sign for one until day they installed. Was told they would "take care of it." Friend who went through Costco also had install issues and with inspection. Had an issue getting credits back. Absolute crooks. Had the audacity to give me a "military discount" or it would have been $7500 more. Look elsewhere for your a/c business. Already reported them to the city, will be looking at legal recourse as well. read more

Cool Bear did an excellent job installing a new air conditioner and ductwork. My home is over 50 years old and the ducts were dirty and not well insulated. Cool Bear was easy to work with; they gave me a very good price, they were clean and thorough, they rebuilt the platform my garage air conditioner sits on, and they left no mess behind. My ac stopped working last night I went online and scheduled a service call for the next morning. When I called in the am to confirm she said the website was outdated and did not work there was so appointment existing. She was rude talked over me yelled offered no solution to the fact that the company's website does not work. When I asked to speak to someone else she told me no one is available. This was a pleasant experience. It's not our first home or condo actually to be exact but it was purchased as a foreclosure.... Basically means you never know what you are going to get. Most foreclosures are simply neglected for obvious reasons or worse. With that said we had a ac handler inside the unit and a larger unit outside. One was over 25 years old the other just around 16 years old. Alex Hartman (the most pleasant and knowledgeable person I believe and honest) came over for a consultation. He was 15 minutes early was very polite. He also took his shoes off at the door! Amazed!!! ( we had some characters from different companies here all local from Coral Springs ... in and out in less than 10 mins prices all over the place and worse one place asked for a non refundable cash deposit after spending 10 mins on sight had next to no paperwork... when I challenged him the shady guy simply said well I'll take the loss on this one and left... I followed up with that company who promised a free estimate and they did not know that contractor was shaking people down for cash). Anyways Alex was clear explained it all gave us more options and ultimately we signed with him. 2 weeks later everything is done installed replaced. Again the team on the ground showed up on time protected everything installed both handler inside and the unit outside. We are awaiting inspection. (Yes they pulled permits too!). This was a nice experience spending this kind of money on an emergency as our ac unit just stopped working out of the blue. I hope to not have to talk to this company again. They promised a solid 20 years of peace obviously I have to do my part change filters flush the lines and such. But I am confident this will be a nice long term investment and peace of mind. read more

We have had so many issues with them. I don't even know where to begin. They have had to reimburse us thousands of dollars off of that work that leaked and cause severe damage in our guest bedroom closet, and their units are constantly in need of servicing. They just stop working. Then when you call customer service to tell them that even when the product is still under warranty, they tell you that it's an emergency visit and that somebody will be there after 5 PM. They don't tell you that that means that they could show up anywhere from 9:30 to 10:30 at night. They are completely unreliable and I'm always nervous that they've created another problem when they come here to fix the units that they installed. read more

AC Repair Fraud - Cool Bear Services LLC Watch out for this company. Upstairs AC stopped working after the power failure on June 2nd. Called the Cool Bear who sold and installed both AC's less than five years ago for $ 19,252. Technician wanted us to prepay $ 220 before his diagnosis. After getting our payment, he provided us a written quote for labor charges of $ 1,845 to replace Blower motor, AHU control board, Thermostat and UV bulb replacement (cost of the parts were covered under 10-year Lennox warranty). Due to frustration of extreme heat and lack of a room to sleep, I switched thermostat plate from my downstairs AC. Voila, Upstairs AC is working fine. When I complained to Cool Bear services, their manager apologized for incorrect diagnosis and claims this was an honest technician error. I have a strong suspicion that this company is enticing their employees to gauge customers. If not, no one with a right mindset would defend this kind of diagnosis of a technician. How a burned out motor and fried AHU board worked when I replaced the thermostat panel? This company was trying to defraud me with non-existence parts replacement cost. I Have reported this fraud to Costco Vendor program, Lennox customer care and Florida Attorney Generals office. read more

Roger came over today Tue, other 2 companies were further back logged and wanted diagnostic money plus! Roger is a S Carolina dude working in FL with a gf from Adams MA. Liked him. Great guy and very detail oriented dude who took pictures and notes (so I am in the system, I am a customer) basically cleaned my lines and got my AC humming for $79. I am a happy dude! Like many fellow reviewers, I purchased an HVAC system for my South Florida home from Cool Bear due to Costco's sponsorship of them. I give them a one star rating. I expect that if their dispatch center said their technician will call me, I will receive a call. A technician for the company performed a scheduled inspection on my system on Friday June 2nd. Everything worked fine for a few hours, then the system stopped operating. The air is circulating but the compressor is not operating since maintenance was performed (it was working fine prior to the service call). Three days in a row I have made a call to Cool Bear's support phone call. A return call has been promised during the same day of my call, but during those days no call has been returned. I purchased the service contract so that I would not have these issues on a new system. I recommend that you steer clear of Cool Bear whether as a result of a sales conversation at Costco or otherwise. This is the latest service problem I have had, but not the only service issue. When you see the Cool Bear salesman at the Boca Costco before you leave the building and he asks you if you need a new HVAC system, ask him about this review and the others you have read on Yelp. Horrible. We placed an order in March and paid the deposit. I called them numerous times before finally getting an appointment for install in May 20th. The tech came 2 hours late to install the part and broke something else inside the unit. He said he will return the same day or early the next day to fix everything. The next day, they tell me they do not know when they will be able to replace the part the tech broke and the unit is completely off now. Terrible service. We called the "salesman" AND the service manager, who do speak English and THEY DID NOT CALL BACK. This company is who came after filling out info at Costco for a free AC replacement estimate. They had a salesman/estimator come to my house and give an estimate. I was given 3 options on units, $11,000, $17,000 and $23,000. I thanked the salesman for coming out and giving an estimate and he was trying very hard to get me to sign on the dotted line for installation the next day. My wife told me to get 3 estimates and this was the first one. I had another company come out the next week and they gave me an estimate on the same 3 unit options. $6,000, $10,000 and $15,000. I was blown away by the difference in prices! I laughed when the guy told me the prices and he asked what was so funny and I told him Cool Bear gave me a quote of $6,000- $7000 higher per unit. He said that's not the first time he's heard that. I'm glad my wife insisted on getting 3 estimates. While I wanted to say good things as the install went well.... I can't say this anymore. My air stopped working 2 months after installing due to a leak. I've had 2 people come just to verify an issue... one said he would "quote me" while not knowing that his colleague came before him and that my unit was recently installed. It's been a week.. still no one has returned my call to setup a fix for the leak that shouldn't be.. it's a new unit... sales man Fernando was quick to provide an install date and take my money but nothing to fix this issue. That's the reason I spent so much time trying to find just the right company for me. I wanted a company I felt I could trust, a company who would stand by their product and deliver great service too. I could simply SCREAM!!!!! That it has taken me over a year to write this review. However, if I was going to write something so important, I want to make sure that I could depict an accurate review of my entire experience. But honestly, I should've done this a long time ago. Yes, I should've gotten a new Air Conditioner a long time ago. Instead, I repaired the old one each summer. If I knew then what I know now I should've called Cool Bear a long time ago and saved myself a lot of time, money and stress. Well over a year after receiving my new Air Conditioning system my journey and experience has taught me that the employees who I encountered are proud of the company they represent, and they stand behind the Cool Bear name. Each person I encountered exceeded their job description. I know because I am a good writer that some may not believe that I am a real person and why would I write so much about my experience. But, if you put as much energy into this process as I have and are as satisfied every step of the way as I have been it is easy to take the time to say, "I had a wonderful experience." And the employees who I've met deserve me shouting it from the roof top too. The very first person I had the sincere pleasure of meeting was Mr. Errol Patrick. Next, the AC ductwork installers which consisted of Ramon, Joe and his team. From beginning to end kudos! They also explained the process to me and kept me informed of everything that was needed. Simply exceptional!!! And finally, my follow-up appointment November 2021. Santiago was friendly, professional and good at explaining the importance of routine maintenance and proper care of my system. He was amazing, as well. If I could give Zero stars I would. I bought a new Lenox AC system from Cool Bear AC mid 2022 becasue they were the company referred by Costco. The sales call and installation went fine. Our Master Bedroom is on the opposite side of the house from where the unit and air handler are and we expressed a need for more cooling in our master. The Rep assured us the Lenox would do the job. Installation went fine, but the performance was really no better than the previous unit, which was aging, but still worked fine. We were happy to have a new unit and also signed up for a service contract. We were not year round Florida residents so having the Honeywell digital controller helped me keep an eye on the system from afar. Fast forward 9 months or so and we arrive in Florida August 11 and when we are at the house I notice the inside temperature is 83. I lower the thermostat and several hours go by, but no change. On Saturday I call Cool Bear and get their call service and request emergency call. I am told a technician will call and then come by. No call from anyone. On Sunday mid-day I call and get the answering service folks again. Thw woman is very nice and apologetic that on one has called and assures me that she will make note of this being the second call and the house being at 85 degrees. Sunday passes and no call or technician. I call Monday morning and get an actual Cool Bear employee who tells me someone will be there on TUESDAY between 8 and 12. I tell her about the weekend experience and get little response. At 12:15 I call the Cool Bear folks again and ask why STILL NO TECHNICIAN. He is running late. I tell them I have to go to the DMV to change my registration and I, unlike Cool Bear, like to keep my appointments. She says she will have the technician come at 3pm. At 4:57 still NO TECHNICIAN and NO CALL. I call ONCE AGAIN. HE is still running behind, but is definitely coming this evening. Good I say, becasue I have a flight Wednesday and must leave the house by 9am. It is now 7:28pm, NO CALL. I call and get the answering service. They dutifully take all my information and tell me they will pass along to the technician on call and that they will contact me. I have never expereinced this level of poor and unresponsive service in my life. I would tell anyone who wants good service to look elsewhere. Update. Just got a call from the perosn on duty. The technician who was supposed to come is not coming now. SHe can't explain, but he is on his way home. I tell her I don't want to unload on her, but express how incredibly unhappy I am. She expresses some sympathy, which is a first. She tells me there is a technician in West Palm Beach who she can ask to come by as next call. That would be between 9 and 10pm. I am not confident it will happen, but I would like to have a resolution before I fly out of town. Next Call Costco and every other Review SIte I can find. read more

Week later....It's important to follow instinct. Was told going to get a call half hour before the appt time. No call therefore I called half hour later just to confirmed my instinct that there's NO APPOINTMENT for them to show! What a waste of whole week waiting needing 3 A/C replacements! I have been a customer of Cool Bear for a few years now. In September of last year they replaced the blower motor of our AC unit. In late May this year they diagnosed that the blower motor they installed needed to be replaced again. They said that since it was less than a year since they replaced the part the labor would be free. They will only charge me for the part. their charge for the part was in the lower four figures. I then called the maker of the unit and the price of the part was a quarter of the Cool Bear estimate. Cool Bear agreed then to charge me for the labor and I would buy the part myself. I got the number of the part from the maker and asked Cool Bear to provide me with the part number that they had in file via email for verification. They have been trying to evade giving me that number for days now. I wonder why. Bear in mind that I never raised the issue that the motor blower part has a one year warranty and in that case it failed within less than a year. read more

Regrettably, I removed that review, due to their poor service and outright lying! They said they would complete my repair two days in a row, and did not even show up or offer an explanation for not doing so. Pathetic and hapless! How can anyone trust a company with practices like that? I don't care for liars, and even pray they change their ways quickly. Employee Francisco rear ended my vehicle with his company vehicle then told me sorry he was in a rush to see his mother in the hospital. No insurance verification could be made by BSO at the accident site. I had to call the manager, Ted, multiple times to get the insurance information. Now Frank is telling his insurance company that he hit me because I changed lanes. Mind you, the damage is directly in the middle of my bumper on my tow hitch. These are dishonest people all around. Cool bear replaced the inside and outside air conditioner. They also replaced all the ductwork in the hot attic. My electric bill went from almost 200 a month and higher in the summer to $81 and up to right now $86 in the summer. I knew I had an attic leak but I didn't realize how bad. I air conditioned the Attic crawl space for years! Now when I turn on the cold water in the bathroom on the other side of the house from the water heater, hot water that's been in the pipe in the Attic comes out first and then it comes out cold. And I save money on the hot water heater as well! Same thing the water in the hot pipe that's in the Attic is hot from the attic and by the time the hot water from the water heater reaches the shower it stays hot! I am very very happy with the job they did. Like I said it's been a year now and I have no complaints. read more
