As a repeat customer, I am extremely disappointed by my recent experience. I have visited this…read morebusiness several times to purchase fragrances and have always spoken highly of them, recommending them to coworkers, friends, and family. Recently, I booked an appointment for a girls' evening with several friends who were traveling in from out of town. Unfortunately, their flight was canceled due to circumstances completely beyond our control. When I called, I was not asking to cancel the appointment, only to reschedule it. To my surprise, I was told that rescheduling was not an option. As a loyal customer, I expected a greater level of understanding and empathy for an unforeseen situation like this. I was committed to keeping my business with them and simply needed flexibility due to a travel disruption. Their unwillingness to work with me left me feeling undervalued as a customer. In my professional experience working with many businesses, I have seen the best customer service demonstrated when unexpected circumstances arise. Unfortunately, this experience showed a lack of customer care and consideration that I did not expect from a company I had supported and promoted for years. I will certainly miss their products, but this experience has left such a negative impression that I do not see myself returning. It's disappointing when a single interaction overshadows years of otherwise positive experiences. I hope they read this and do better with their customers. Given the current environment with flight disruptions, delays other other transporation challenges this will happen to another customer and they will continue to disappoint and tarnish their brand.

I'm that person that doesn't care what I wear clothes-wise. I don't focus on clothing brands or…read moretrends and I rarely spend a lot of money on myself. But I always have to wear two things: expensive lingerie and expensive fragrance. If you feel the same, you will want to hit the UES for your bedroom wear. And for scent, do yourself a favor and skip Creed, and come here. What is interesting about this place at first glance, is the way they have the perfume samples displayed. They are grouped by the usual categories, on top of a low lighted wooden display, with glass covers over the top of the bottles. The little round glasses keep the scent inside, and you smell the opening of the glass. They have spray cards too, and are generous if you'd like to sample. The unisex perfumes are a combination of perfume oil (a la Arabic style) and alcohol based (standard, French) parfum. This results in more sillage, and more tenacity. Tbh, the store can be a little overwhelming because of this, as the oud is very strong in the air of the small shop. They are pricey, and you might wait for someone online to do decants. We are talking $300s here, and the smallest is a set of 5ml for a few hundred. I think they could sell some single 5mls because you're really going to have to love the scent to buy an entire bottle. Me, I'm too fickle, and if you are the same, spray yourself or take a card to see how you wear the scent over time before you buy it. I want to mention some notables, for fellow perfumaholics. Rose scents are always too soapy for me. I rarely can find a rose perfume that is true to the flower. Their musk rose comes very, very close to smelling like an actual rose in bloom. I'd like if they could do a lilac, which always comes out like cleaning solution when a perfume house tries to recreate a lilac single note. If they've been successful with rose (personally, I think this is due to it being oil based vs alcohol), then I think they might have a go at lilac, or a violet. But who knows if these things are in style for the young ones. Most perfumes lately are more fruity than floral or spice. They have many fruity scents also, btw. Now, the piece de resistance: a scent labelled with a new category: watery. And watery it is, reminiscent of lazy summer days by a pleasant garden pond. If you could put Monet's lily pads in a bottle, I'd say this is it. Lago del Desierto. There are many sandlewood and amber perfumes in the spicy (used to be called Oriental) categories. No fougere that I saw, really unless you count the 'watery' category as under the umbrella of fougere. There are oud and cedar (woody) categories for the men, and floral and fruit for the women on the opposite side of the table, but again the new thing is unisex. Now you don't have to be defined by perfume gender, men are delicious in florals, and women are domming it up in leather scents. Go for it. One of life's pleasures is smelling nice, and smelling others who smell nice.

Yes, the customer service is a bit awkward…read moreand stilted, but I kind of don't care--I would prefer to be left alone in silence while I spend half an hour, in a trance, sniffing everything. As long as they let me do that (and very much they encouraged it), I'm happy. I walked in thinking this was going to be something like Saje, which weirdly doesn't exist in NYC, but naw man. The fact that they distill their own frankincense and have a couple variations of rose, thyme, fir, etc. means they mean serious fucking business. I am impressed that they carry blue lotus, blue tansy, and tons of other oils that I've never even heard of before until I came here. I asked about their blends, which they carry a limited selection compared to their pure oils. At first I was a bit disappointed that there weren't more, but honestly? When you smell the pure oils, they are of such high quality that they don't really need to be blended. They are so complex and rich, they can easily be diffused on their own. It's very expensive. Eyewateringly so. But I'm happy to splurge on what seems to be the best of what exists (that is, that's available to consumers like me, not necessarily top-tier perfumers).

I went in aware that you can touch (or spray) the bottles, but I wasn't expecting the only interaction from staff to be to ask everyone who came in if they had been to the store before (a chance for them to tell you the rules, of course). No questions about what you're looking for, no offer of help while you browse, just general monitoring to make sure no one is touching what they should not. I asked perfumes were exclusive to Stele and was told "not sure but most everything"...and saw a ton of lines that are not exclusive. The stones aren't a very good vehicle to capture scents (probably why I've never seen them at any other perfume store) and the layout is by house without any general descriptions or information on the brand. The perfume details and pricing are on the back of the stones. Overall not somewhere to go unless you know exactly what you want.

From the moment I walked in, the space felt transportive. A gilded mirror framed by softly burning taper candles created the atmosphere of a French château. It was immersive, refined, and unmistakably Trudon. I was warmly welcomed by Austin, the boutique manager, whose presence struck the perfect balance between attentiveness and restraint. He allowed me to explore freely, and when I naturally became more engaged, he met that energy with genuine enthusiasm, deep knowledge, and care. His associate John was equally gracious. While I'm very familiar with the house and already own many of its creations, Austin introduced me to new scents I hadn't yet discovered. One in particular immediately stood out--I experienced it on a beautifully presented blotter and knew instantly it was coming home with me. The entire process felt thoughtful and personal, never overwhelming or transactional. The presentation was just as memorable: silk ribbon, illustrated tissue, and an attention to detail that made the purchase feel like collecting a true artifact. In fact, I ended up buying an entirely new suitcase from Target just to bring everything home. (I reluctantly passed on a grand candle--only because I couldn't risk traveling with such a substantial piece.) What stood out most was the feeling. In a city filled with luxury, this experience felt rare--elevated yet warm, reminiscent of Hermès, but more approachable and personal. For those who appreciate craftsmanship, heritage, and storytelling, this boutique is absolutely worth visiting. And if you have the chance to meet Austin, you'll understand just how memorable a retail experience can be. - And this is a review from a very detail oriented and discerning person. I work for tiffany&co so I know what client service and experience at a high level looks like.

The candles in the store were LITERALLY all starting to melt! I would have loved to buy something but clearly this company doesn't treat its employees very well and I'm not gonna support that, and I would caution other people before they do either.
