Very friendly and clean restaurant. The portions are a good size and food is delicious. Worth trying.

Yesterday was my first time at Sweet's Island restaurant. I found the staff to be engaging and full of Aloha and the food was ono-licious, broke da mouth kine!

Convenient parking out front. Amazing island vibes. I lived in Fiji and this place does the most authentic Fiji meal on Fridays. The lady who started over 30 years ago grew up on the island and it shows! I had no idea this was the oldest Polynesian restaurant in Utah. Best island food in Utah!!

This place is AWESOME. Huge portions, fair price, delicious food, all the options, great service, daily specials, what more do you want? Their chicken katsu is really special, they cut th chicken before they bread it, so ALL the sides are covered in breading. Their smoked BBQ ribs (only on Thursdays) are sooooooo good. Tender, sweet, smoky, absolutely amazing ribs. There are a lot of Hawaiian places around, but this is now my go-to. Don't go to Mo Bettahs, come here.

    Katsu chicken and kalua pig

Walked in, and the restaurant is really nice inside. Ordered katsu chicken and kalua pig with rice and Mac salad, food was so ono, kalua pig was juicy and the katsu chicken brought me back home. All I can say is I definitely coming back for the daily specials. Aunty was so nice, she even gave me a free spam musubi.

    Too much sauce and mayo

The people here were so friendly and nice and it pains me to give them a 2 star rating. Service was fantastic, but the food was not. There was too much teriyaki sauce on everything, it was overwhelming. I guess they put even extra on when they serve you... I could have done without. The noodles were saturated and the rice as well, so much that I barely touched them. The teriyaki chicken was ok but didn't taste very barbecued. The chicken katsu was average, but definitely didn't need that much sauce. I normally fight over my Mac salad but this one I couldn't even eat. It was about 50 percent mayo- yuck. This is coming from someone who is pretty heavy handed with the mayo herself. Orders were accurate and quick, but someone needs to tone it down on the sauce and mayo here.

    Love me them ribs!!

Best ambiance, great service, they are the sweetest people. This is a lunch spot and they can run out of food if you don't get there early. Their drinks are amazing!

No matter your reason, at some point you will end up in the Cougareat, hungry and ready for some good, quick food. If you're into Hawaiian style foods and are willing to pay more than, say, Subway, then Aloha Plate is an excellent choice. There may be a few more things you're wondering about: Is it a little pricey? Yes. Is it worth it to pay a little extra to exchange the plain white rice to fried rice? Yes. Is it good to share? Yes! Get the 2 meat combo and you'll get a little more variety as well as 2 scoops of rice. Which is the best meat? The pineapple chicken all the way. It's breaded and fried and covered in a sweet pineapple sauce. Is the service quick? Although nobody will ever beat Chick-fil-A, these guys don't leave you waiting long. Should I put extra sauces on? Oh yeah. If you don't douse your meal in the soy sauce next to the chopsticks you're not doing it right. Aloha Plate has a lot to offer! When at BYU, it's definitely worth your time.

Dining area here is pretty small, but the main dishes are pretty solid in comparison to the other places. They have recently added musubi to the menu, finally, which is great, except it comes in various forms of plastic and is cold, which is a lot less great and sometimes mushes it. This particular place has it in a baggie, which is fine and all well and good, but I generally wind up taking it out of the plastic and putting it on top of whatever I ordered, trying in vain to warm it up at least slightly. Again, this is to varying effect, but I'm glad they have the musubi at all. No furikake on it, but it does seem to have perhaps some sort of blackened seeds on it, sesame I'm assuming. Anyway, these are getting more or less down to ol' reliable and I have no qualms at all with that, as they never fail to wind up hitting the spot.

That being said, my partner and I got an order of the spam musubi, a "Mini Meal" with the Kalua Pig, the "Two-Meat Mix" with the Island Fire Chicken and Hawaiian BBQ Beef, and the Guava Cake. The Kalua Pork was actually really good! It had good flavor without being as overwhelming as other hawaiian places. The guava cake was also really nice. It was light and not too sweet! The Island Fire Chicken and Hawaiian BBQ Beef both had amazing flavor, but they had the texture of undercooked meat which ruined the experience for me. The Spam Musubi was ok but the seaweed wrap was too strong compared to the flavor of the spam which made it taste weird. The only other complaint I have is that they didn't have music playing. It was very quiet and I could clearly hear the conversations that the people around me were having. All that being said, I would be willing to come back if these things were addressed.
