After waiting a few minutes, we noticed a couple walk in, sit at the bar, and skip the line to order their food directly from the bar - helpful info that wasn't clear prior! Service was slow, though bar staff was apologetic. The food, while fresh and properly made, did not seem to be anything special, relative to the prices. Our served offered coupons for next time, courtesy of the manager, which we appreciated! Though after paying for our beverages, we discovered we were charged for a bottle of wine we hadn't ordered. Our server handled it well and instructed us to call the restaurant if the charge went through, which we fortunately didn't need to do. Between the hustle and bustle of the weekend brunch rush, perhaps this spot may benefit from streamlining their process and hiring more staff.

I got the jambalaya and I do not think I have had such a flavorful jambalaya in Ohio much less a winery-type place. My mouth is honestly watering right now thinking about it. Our waiter for our dinner was quick and kind. She made us feel completely comfortable and truly made an already wonderful meal even better. Exceptional service from beginning to end! The restaurant itself is adorable, modern, beautifully decorated, and has a lovely patio. But the service and food completely stole the show. We ordered several appetizers, including the bruschetta, fried green tomatoes, corn and ricotta dip, and pimento croquettes. I'm VERY picky, and I genuinely wouldn't change a single thing. Every dish was flavorful, perfectly balanced, beautifully presented, and cooked exactly right. The bruschetta was so good that we ordered a second round! The fried green tomatoes were perfectly crisp with a delicious sauce, and the pimento croquettes were crispy on the outside, creamy inside, and paired perfectly with the sauce and pickles. The corn and ricotta dip was delicious as well. Nothing was too salty, under-seasoned, overcooked, or missing anything. The flavors were spot-on across the board. For dessert, we had the peach butter cake with everything on the side. The cake was delicious on its own and even better with the ice cream. It's rare to try so many dishes and not want to change a single thing, but that was the case here. The food was top-notch, and Olivia truly made the experience. We will definitely be back and will absolutely recommend this place to others. Amazing food, amazing service, and an overall experience that went above and beyond.

I really hate writing this review because I remember Agave & Rye when it first opened in Covington…read moreand I was genuinely impressed. Was it authentic Mexican food? No. But that wasn't really the point. It was creative, fun, and, most importantly, the food was GOOD. I still remember those original chips thin, crispy, fresh and almost addictive. The pico was vibrant and fresh, the flavors were balanced, and the birria was easily my favorite thing on the menu. Not every taco or dish was amazing, but I never left feeling like I'd had a bad meal. Over the years, I've probably stopped back in once a year or so, and unfortunately, each visit seemed to come with another noticeable decline in quality. Still, I kept trying it again because I remembered what Agave & Rye used to be. Then came today. We started with the crab cake bites. I'm sure there was crab somewhere in them, but the amount of cheese completely overwhelmed everything else. Then there were the chips. If you remember Agave & Rye's original chips, you'll understand my disappointment. These tasted mass-produced in the worst possible way and were nothing like what originally made them memorable. We also tried the steak egg rolls. They weren't technically inedible, but that's about the nicest thing I can say. The steak tasted frozen, the filling was mushy, and the entire thing tasted and felt like it had been prepared long before it ever reached our table. For my entrée, I ordered the Filthy Fajita, and this was where I was genuinely confused. Conceptually, I understand what they were trying to do. But the execution was dismal. The steak didn't taste or look as though it had ever touched a grill. It was pale, chewy and completely flavorless almost as if it had been boiled. Then it was piled into a mixture of onions, queso and Mexican rice that all became one big mush of textures and flavors. Had the steak actually been grilled with some char and seasoning, and had the individual ingredients maintained some texture and identity, I could probably have given the dish a 6/10. What I was served was honestly closer to a 2/10. Even the pico and salsa were disappointing. The pico was unevenly chopped with large pieces of onion overpowering everything else, and neither had the bright, fresh flavor I remembered. The salsa tasted more like puréed tomatoes than a finished salsa. My husband ordered three tacos, including the Bee's Knees and, I believe, the Alderman. His reaction was similar. The chicken was dry and tasteless, and his overall impression was that everything tasted frozen rather than freshly prepared. And that's ultimately the issue. Agave & Rye built its reputation on food that was unconventional, over the top and FUN but there was quality behind the gimmick. Somewhere along the way, that seems to have been lost. I still appreciate the atmosphere and their bar selection, but when it comes to the food, this was beyond disappointing. After giving it several chances over the years, sadly, this will likely be our last visit. I genuinely wish that weren't the case, because the Agave & Rye I remember from those early Covington days was something special.

Pleasant, though. We were given menus, cool, leather bound mini binders. (These are way different than other pics from earlier reviews) Really neat selection of house drinks (adult beverages) wide selection of Bourbons, whiskey and tequila. My wife got the Berry Naughty, (see menu pic for description) Evan waited on us. I ordered the Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich, Hickory-smoked pulled pork + Tangy Carolina gold BBQ sauce + Southern slaw + House pickles + Cowboy Crack Sauce + Buttered brioche with fries. It has coleslaw and their special Cowboy Crack sauce on it. The pulled pork was cooked well, huge amount of meat. Definitely not shredded, but pulled apart. A few chunks were at least 2" in length and about 1 1/4" wide. Also, it comes with a boq sauce already on it, besides their special sauce. My preference is the pork has no boq sauce on it but it's at the table to add if it's needed. But, gotta say this, HUGE amount of meat, and a tasty bun. Fries were good, but not spectacular or special. Their ketchup has some kick to it, so that was pretty neat. But, my taste buds were almost confused with the special sauce, the bbq sauce and then the ketchup. My wife ordered the Coca-Cola Braised Short Rib Slow-braised short rib + Coca-Cola reduction + Buttery whipped potatoes + Smothered green beans + Crispy tobacco onions. Next time I may order that. The concept is basically same as Chipotle, build your own bowl pick your own protein, veggies and bases. We started ours with the lemon rice and added I think almost all the toppings lol and then we got the fried chicken if I remember correctly, and added the sauce on the sides. Now I had very high hopes for the restaurant. But what I didn't like is how 1. The chicken was super big. More like chicken nuggets in the bowl instead of chicken FOR the bowl. We had like 6 pieces of chicken but a big bowl full of other toppings. Something I did like though is there was no limit on the toppings. You could get all of them or none of them if you really wanted. It threw me off with the sauces we asked for them in the side and they gave us packets. Idk why but it kind of threw me off too then we ended up forgetting to even use them when we ate the actual bowl. The sauces probably would have helped with the bowl, but tbh the experience was just anti climatic. Personally it just feel like a whole bunch of American Asian items thrown together in one bowl
