Decided to stop by on a whim....its been calling my name every day on my ride home from work. Soooo glad I did! I brought home a chocolate explosion and peanut butter cup cupcakes. They were perfectly moist and the frosting was not overly sweet but bursting with intense flavor. The 2 bakers inside the truck were pleasant and very helpful making my selection. NEVER AGAIN!!! DO NOT USE THEM FOR EVENTS!!! The cupcakes are light and good their service was dispicable! I paid the ridiculous price for cupcakes for my son's birthday party. I spoke to the horrid, unscrupulous woman running the bakery 4 times. She not only assured me she could and would complete the job, she added to the excitement of the party. 30 minutes before I am to pick up the cupcakes she has someone call me and state that they will be 1.5 hours late! I had to arrange someone else to pick them up and they made them wait an additional hour!!! THEN if that is not enough they overcharged me by $75. WORSE company ever! If it wasn't my sweet son's birthday I would have told these horrible people, just what they can do for their overpriced cupcakes. I am reporting them to the BBB also. Had to swing by Baby's R Us last night....Whoooa! Raining Cats and Dogs...and in the dark parking lot sat this Barbie Winnebago on steroids. Perfect...I will surprise the Mrs.....with a couple of cupcakes for the movie. Great thing about bringing a infant to the movies...when the door man questioned the box of cupcakes...I told him it was for..."da Baaaaby!!" Needless to say....we noshed them as we watched a cheezie Rom-Com. The lemon was delcious with a blob of lemon pudding in the middlle. I went back today because they are right out in front of my building and bought 6 more to take camping tomorrow since it's one of my friend's birthday. The price is 4 dollars each and I don't mind paying that price when they are good and fancy like these are. I asked if they offer a discount for large orders and the answer was no with the explanation being that they bake in the truck and sell out. Well it didn't hurt to ask. But these came in very handy and now I don't have to bake for the camping trip. I bought a variety and will report later with the flavor findings because I plan on tasting as many as possible! read more

Excellent. Had the lemon cake and it was the perfect balance of sweet and sour. Looking at other reviews, somebody complained that the lemon was bitter. I think that complaint will be filed in my mind as a sign of a good bakery. I suspect that person doesn't know what lemon zest is and how amazing it makes a lemon dessert. Cake was light, fluffy. Super friendly truck that we happened upon after an Off-the-Grid Saturday in Shoreline, Alameda. By the time we got there at around 3pm, practically all the sweets in this truck, which looks, pleasantly, like a dollhouse for young girls who are interested in playing with Barbies, as long as they're in a kitchen making cupcakes. Or so I would surmise. All that was left was a large snickerdoodle-flavored cupcake. It was purchased. The ICING was flavored snickerdoodle, which is normally a crispy, hard cookie. It was remarkable how the flavor was preserved in a consistency so unlike its natural cookie form, which made me like it more. Its just hard living a complete review when you've only tried one item. Lets be judicious about our 5 stars until we've been immersed shall we? I believe this truck is based in Berkeley. And it may have a new stalker if not for more enjoyment, then for some closure about those 5 stars. read more

I happened to be walking by in the midst of a terrible day so I grabbed a cupcake with the hopes of improving my spirits a bit. All the cupcakes were on the pricey side @$3.50/ea. However, they looked large, well-made and interesting so I went for a coconut The cupcake itself was tall, topped with a thick layer of frosting, had coconut shavings sprinkled on top & was wrapped in a large piece of baking paper. At first, I did not know how to eat this monstrosity as I walked down the street. I gingerly peeled back a corner of the baking paper and the frosting sticks to it while coconut shavings fall to the ground. I go in for a bite and get a face full of frosting with almost no cake. Even more crumbs and shavings fall to the ground. I finally get down to the cake after wiping my face off and it has a light sweet flavor with an angel-food texture. It's unique for a cupcake but the whole thing ended up tasting like nebulous light sweet nothings with a tiny hint of coconut. Now that I'm back at my crumb-covered desk, I'm not sure I am any better off for grabbing this snack. Serve your cupcakes with a plate, fork, & wet nap please. read more

This place is made of pure evil. It's sugary delight in a box. A bit on the expensive side ($4 per), really sugary, and pretty big cupcakes. I don't eat a lot of the frosting since they're too much for me, but would recommend it. I like to get it when they're around in Alameda or at work. =) read more

They were parked in front of my doctor's office yesterday. I told myself that if they were still there after the appointment, I could treat myself to one cupcake. The appointment was rough, and they were still there, so I walked over. The person running it was super sweet. He waited for me to pick what I wanted with no rush (there wasn't a line at the moment), and walked me through the different cupcakes so that I could decide what I wanted. I finally settled on the Miss Marilyn. It was amazing! I was eating it on the bus home trying not to overreact about it in public. The compote in the middle was the perfect mix of tart and sweet. The cake was moist and fluffy. The frosting was creamy and rich. The only thing with it was the frosting was a little too rich for me, but most frostings are. If I see them again, I want to try the nuclear one. I think it will be perfect. I would definitely suggest getting at least one of the cupcakes. They are huge and delicious. Even if you can't afford to go back, try it one time. read more

I found this truck by accident while exiting the Office Depot in Emeryville. That was a happy accident. I tried their Carmel by the Sea cupcake today, and it was awesome. The flavor combination was perfect, with just the right amount of salt, caramel and chocolate in a moist, rich, light cake. The cupcake was also massive (and it should be for $4); they smartly provide a fork with your indulgent treat. The three folks in the truck were also super pleasant. Now that I know they are at that location Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, I can't wait to make a pit stop en route to San Francisco to try their other flavors (especially Snickerdoodle and Lemon!) 5 deserving stars! read more

They were parked on the street next at OTG in Alameda today. Needed something sweet after enjoying lunch at a couple of the food trucks. Had the Chocolate Explosion and this is awesome if you're a chocolate fan. In fact, it's a must try. Very moist and fresh and very "chocolatey". Lady in front of me purchased the last Lemon, so I wasn't able to try that, but I will next time. Friends gave me a couple of cupcakes they picked-up when they found Sweet Treat Stop at OTG in Alameda last Saturday. Ate the Red Velvet, which was fantastic. The pumpkin was also very good and the lemon was very silky and lemony. Gave the Chocolate Explosion, Java and S'mores to my son, so I'll have to find-out what he thought. A cupcake food truck with cupcakes made on site? The foodie gods have answered my prayers! [Lighting of Yelp joss sticks and ceremoniously placed at foodie gods shrine.] The truck made their debut near my work area. I was able to e-mail the truck to reserve some cupcakes in advance. Good thing I did! While I stood in line to get my order cupcakes seemed like they were flying off the shelves. The people in the truck were still whipping up more cupcakes. The teller was nice enough to add more orders to my advanced purchase, and even read it back to me to confirm I got everything I wanted. The service was a bit slow and took a while to really get going. I think people just kept adding to their orders because there were so many options once you get to the front of the line. The cupcakes are tall and big. Somewhere between your normal cupcake and Costco cupcake in size. (Half a Costco cupcake?) The cupcake wrappers are actually parchment or pastry paper. The cream frosting is generously served, making it top heavy. Keep a fork at the ready just in case the cupcake collapses on itself. I ate the Chocolate Explosion. A perfectly made chocolate cake slice in cupcake form. Surprisingly light given the amount of chocolate used. Not overly sweet. I felt like climbing 100 flights of stairs when I was done with my dessert. After about 30 minutes I wanted to take a nap. Sugar high/crash so good. read more

Came across these guys in the parking lot of Toys R Us and decided that I've been good enough on my diet to merit a treat and who doesn't like cupcakes? Very glad I stopped. My sweetie had a razzle dazzle cupcake and I had a snickerdoodle cupcake. Both were surprisingly light - both the cake and the frosting - and very tasty. My conscience remains unperturbed as the tasty treat is NOT sitting in my stomach like a bowling ball. Caramel By the Sea!!! I'm not a fan of cupcakes, and in fact, I usually like my cupcakes pretty dense. However, the Caramel by the sea cupcake with the butterscotch caramel filling is amazing! I also did try the velvet cupcake, which I would pass on the next time since i've already found my favorite. The packaging and presentation also makes it easy to take with you on the go. Valiant effort for a food truck cupcake. I'm not sure if they were trying to save money on ingredients, but I could definitely taste the difference in the butter cream and the cake itself. The butter cream was a bit waxy, tasted as though real butter wasn't used. The cakes were pretty tasty as far as flavor combinations go (yum snicker doodle), but were dry overall. I love a good cupcake, but would hesitate to drop 4 bucks on a cupcake again from this truck. Great for a quick fix, but if your gonna have the sugar, go for a Dodi Cake. I got a gluten free brownie today from this truck at the alameda antique market. I actually got the very last one. WOW. Best gluten free brownie I have ever had! Ok...I was the first transfixed on their very pink truck, so I had to check it out. It looked like a Barbie Truck...it was the little girl in me that attracted me to it. And I am so glad that I checked it out. Their cupcakes are fresh, delicious and moist and done so well. The treats are done so special that it made you feel special even though it wasn't your birthday or anything. It put a smile to my very long days. Both Chef Audrey and Jen are awesome and very friendly. All the treats are made there (in the truck) and very fresh. It's a kitchen on wheels and pink at that! Everytime I am in the Emeryville by Petclub I try and look for them as they are there in certain evenings by Michael's or Home Depot. Every cupcake just gets better and better and my goal is try all the flavors they make. They would be awesome for a party as they do catering...they make mini cupcakes for events. However, the individuals they sell are a very genrous size and every bite is an absolute delight : ) ... The price is worth every bite...I cannot tell you yet what my favorite is as I have not tried everything...but once i have tried everything....I am telling you now, it's gonna be a hard decision as everything is great thus far. read more

The Big Pink Truck At first a whim, and now a staple, I look for the big pink truck everywhere I go. (in emeryville they have 3 haunts I see them at most, 2100 Powell, Babies-r-us parking lot and 64th and Hollis) The truck is adorable and easy to spot, the ladies are sweet and personable, and the tweets/updates are "mostly" frequent. I will admit I drove everywhere looking for them monday looking for a fix. BTW I love cake.... like a lot.. Like an addiction. it's a lil sad. The Cake, is light, airy and moist. The fillings are generous and not overly sweet. The frostings are buttery, yet light with a good amount of flavor. Lemon Zest: A favorite of mine this bright yellow present is both sweet and tart with a delicious curd and light smooth frosting. Pineapple Upside down: A yummy personal sized version of the classic. Gooey and delicious. Caramel by the Sea: Far and away the best chocolate cake (cup or otherwise) I have ever had. The frosting on this one is heavenly, sweet, lightly flavored and delightful. The caramel is divine... I wish I could bathe in it. salty, sweet and creamy. But the AMAZING part of this one is the cake itself. The cake is like a little bit of chocolate flavored air. So moist so good. (I highly suggest a nice cup of Philz coffee with this one) Coconut: A tasty white cake with a flavorful frosting flocked in shredded coconut flakes. More of "classic" 1940s coconut flavor, not a Hawaiian coconut flavor, but very good. Snickerdoodle: Had it once... I may have been inebriated for this one... I remember cinnamon and vanilla but further research is required. Strawberry Short cake: Same vanilla goodness for the cake, nice frosting, I would have preferred fresh strawberries, but hey, nothing is perfect... (exception is Caramel-by-the-Sea, see above) The presentation of the cakes is the BEST i've seen from any bakery mobile or stationary, the decorations always enhance the appearance and never detract from the flavor, and the lovely folded paper cups are beautiful and convenient for cake consumption. I picked Chocolate Explosion for him and Chocolate (something) Late for me. We couldn't wait to finish our diner to open individually boxed cupcakes. They looked so perfect and yet they fail to deliver in taste :( While my cupcake was pretty moist, the frosting was horrible! Pure butter without any taste! And I hate taste of a butter in my mouth. But I took the frosting completely off (trashed it) and ate just the bottom. My husband complained that his cupcake was super dry (and then he continued bitching about $4 I spent "for this!"). Looking for cupcakes for my gf's b-day bash... went to 4 or 5 bakeries and was disappointed... no luck until I saw this pink food truck out of the blue. The pastry chefs were amazingly friendly and helpful... I didn't know what to expect but I came out a big winner! The cupcakes were absolutely amazing... Strawberry short cake, pink lemonade, and red velvet... All were hits!!! Everyone loved how the frosting wasn't heavy like usual... it was instead, light and fluffy (yet still rich in flavor and silky in texture). Best cc's in the bay, none have come close. read more

I have searched far and wide for the best cupcakes. From Denver, to Vegas and all over the bay area. From individually owned bakeries to the infamous Crumbs in L.A. and the Gigi's franchise. These are the best cupcakes I have encountered. They cakes fluffy, flavorful and the frosting not too sweet - its more fluffy and whipped. Mostly because they do not use the traditional and BORING buttercream frosting that you find on literally every other unoriginal cupcake out there. It is nice to have found something that is different and delicious in all the right ways. If you like a more dense cake and sweet frosting this will not be up your alley. Ladies these are lighter in calories because they are not made with buttercream and the papers they are baked in do not require that the pans are greased. The Carmel by the Sea (Devils food chocolate cake, salted carmel and whipped frosting) is my favorite so far. Each thursday that they are in Alameda I try a new flavor. read more

I planned a trip to Alameda as a half-way point in which to meet up with a friend who lives a bit further south. We wanted to spend the day at the beach and had planned to buy goodies a the local Safeway to take with us. We were pleasantly surprised to find food trucks in the lot... and elated over the first truck we saw, this one! The only thing I love more than chocolate is cake, and cupcakes are simply slices of such. So I've had my fair share of cupcakes from various sources, Sprinkles, Cupcake Craving, Icing on the Cake, etc. None of which compare to the delicious flavors baked in this truck. We tried two, one Luv'n Lemon and one Chocolate Explosion. The baker was kind enough to slice each in half so my friend and I could easily share. Since I'm a chocolate fanatic, I fully expected to love the Explosion over the Lemon, but I tell you, this is one AMAZING lemon cupcake! I favored the lemon over the chocolate, which is a first. Lemon was clearly tasted throughout, without the taste of dye which so many other cupcakes possess. The curd in the center was heavenly. But even if it lacked the extra filling, this cupcake would still rock. Each was super fluffy and had such amazing frosting. Not the dense, grainy type, rather super creamy. light, delicious frosting, the best I've tasted. Bonus, they were so inexpensive in comparison to other locations, and are bigger as well. I think having a cupcake truck at a birthday party would be awesome. Although, as we sat on the beach enjoying these heavenly morsels, we couldn't help but consider them as an awesome way to cater a beach wedding. Ok, not for everyone, but still worthy. My friend and I now plan to make the trip to Alameda a regular occurrence. I only hope this food truck is there every Sat in spring/summer. LOVE them. My Husband surprised me with the Chocolate Explosion cupcake (I am a true chocoholic!)..And OMG!! It was so moist and delicious and huge!! Since then, I have been a fan. Chocolate Explosion is a definite winner in my book. Some of the other yummy cakes that will not disappoint are the Strawberry Shortcake, Pink Lemonade, and Carmel by the Sea. Nom Nom Nom! That is the only thing my brain amd stomach both say to me when any one mentions this place! Razzle and plain jane havebto be some of the best cupcakes i have ever tasted. When they come to alameda for the food truck gathering on saterdays my girl friend has me drive all the way here to grab her some! I would highly recommend this olace to any desert lovers! My lemon cupcake kind of left me disappointed because I was expecting more of a zesty taste and it just tasted like artificial lemon flavoring to me and the lemon filling was too sweet for me. I used this vendor for a company meeting and we had a dozen and a half of each of their flavor of cupcakes (126). There was not a single cupcake left at the end of the event. I heard repeatedly how awesome the cupcakes were and employees kept asking where they came from. Definitely the caliber of something you would see on "Cupcake Wars". I LOVE the snicker doodle cup cake! The cupcakes here are very moist and they're big like muffins. Also the icing is very smooth like whipped cream, HOWEVER it's not sweet as your typical icing which I'm not a big fan of, but the cupcake itself is so good I don't mind it. Also the "Razzle Dazzle" is the bomb too. It's chocolate cake, raspberry filling, raspberry flavored icing with sprinkles. The only thing is they don't always make it. But the place is definitely worth a try- you'll be hooked. read more
