I can tell you how little they have changed in 43 years. Usually when a business has operated for that long, they've achieved well-known notoriety, yet these remain a bit of a secret. I argue they deserve all the accolades that local pride has conjured up for now defunct businesses like Bell Alley Soft Pretzels. I should've contacted Food Network a long time ago. If you swing by Reading Farmers Market be sure to grab the pretzel doughnuts. A one-of-a-kind, large, perfectly puffy, glazed doughnut, u guessed it, twisted like a knotted pretzel. I enjoy these simple yeasted doughnuts in their iced glory and have yet to come across one anywhere else. The decorated varieties at holidays are a solid choice as is the peanut butter frosted or filled. The thing that has passed is the affordability. Once upon a time you could pick to your hearts content, now they seem individually priced at a premium. Still, I'll pay for the quality & tradition that no super market with their synthesized ingredients can deliver.

As you walk in you'll likely be greeted by the front counter associate or any of them making their way around to clean, or even just having a quick chat with some of the regulars. The place is beautifully decorated, and the servers are kind, but the food does not meet the expectations you would have, especially if you are familiar with authentic Colombian food. We ordered empanadas as an appetizer, and they arrived cold, as if they had been made the day before. On top of that, the ají is not the traditional Colombian kind, so the experience was disappointing from the start. The ajiaco, which should be one of the most representative dishes, tasted more like a bland potato soup with no chicken flavor and nothing memorable about it. They do not even serve it with cream, which makes it feel even less authentic and less flavorful. You can also feel a change in the atmosphere when the manager or owner arrives. The treatment toward Hispanic customers feels somewhat dismissive, while it seems different with Americans. For example, a group of Americans picked up their plates and she told them they did not have to do that, but when I did the same, that courtesy was forgotten. Overall, it is a visually pleasant place and the waitresses provide good service, but for someone from Colombia, the food does not live up to many expectations.

That Hollandaise! I…read morerecently visited Wyomissing Restaurant and Bakery with two companions, and we had a wonderful experience! The atmosphere is a bit more upscale than your average diner--everything was impeccably clean, and the ambiance was very pleasant. My friends both opted for the "All You Can Eat Buffet," which I understand is what this place is famous for (especially on weekends!). Their plates were packed, and the fact that they both went back for seconds speaks for itself--they loved it. I went with the Norway Benedict, and I was honestly blown away. It featured two perfectly poached eggs and smoked salmon on English muffins with a very generous serving of Hollandaise sauce, accompanied by a side of home-fried potatoes. The presentation was beautiful, the taste was excellent, and I truly can't think of a single thing that would have improved the dish. Service Highlights: * Attentive Staff: Our server was great--present when we needed drink refills but never intrusive. * Efficiency: They were quick to clear empty plates rather than letting them sit on the table, which we really appreciated. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the area. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

All the pastries are homemade even my toast tasted like they made it there which they probably did. The place could've been a little bit more updated, not the best ambience but if you want a good brunch, this is where to come! No four seater booths.

Wander through the aisles and the sheer number of vendors will stop you in your tracks. Choices range from farm fresh, homemade, and hand-crafted salads and desserts to local vegetables and ripe seasonal fruits. You'll find fresh poultry and smoky BBQ, poultry pieces and platters, and a full lineup of beef, pork, veal, sausage, and lamb. Add in PA Dutch baked goods still warm from the oven, fresh squeezed juices, gourmet coffees and specialty teas, homemade chocolates, old fashioned candies and snacks, soft pretzels and pretzel wraps, fresh cut lunch meats and cheeses, cream cheese spreads, dairy and eggs, plus organic baking supplies and local honeys--and you've got a marketplace that feels like a feast at every turn. They have a luncheonette, a huge dining room, and offer breakfast all day, lunch and dinner. I picked up some beef jerky, some beef sticks, a bottle of local soda, and some baked goodies.

Additionally, there are a bunch of food vendors with their wonderful scents wafting throughout the market. It'll be tough to choose but good to know that there an options to satisfy whatever you're in the mood. I like the open market floor plan with plenty of seating to eat what you purchase regardless of the vendors. We experienced friendly, quick service at all the places we ate at. We all chose Becca's Coffee & Donuts. We each tried a different specialty drink and none of us were disappointed. They were delicious. And my apple fritter was super fresh and oh-so yummy! My hubby & I both chose pretzel-dough wraps because we had never had them before. I had the eggs, bacon, cheese & hashbrowns and my hubby had the eggs, bacon & sausage. Both were served warm. Comfort brunch: They were delicious and hearty. Totally worth it! The others in our party went for a breakfast burrito and an omelette with toast! Another winner! On the way out, we grabbed some eggnog in a bottle ($2 up charge for the bottle deposit - if you return it, you get the $2 back). Sooooo good! We all left very satisfied -- All the more reason to visit again when in the area! I'm already thinking about what I want to try. *Note: open on Thursday, Friday & Saturday only.
