Again the ice cream was quite good. But was definitely a weird experience. They also rung us up and walked back from the screen so was confusing. Will try again since it's local and was tasty

I tried other samples, which were properly refrigerated and had a solid consistency, but the caramel cake was leaning more toward lukewarm. Also, there's an artificial taste (to be expected)--I didn't mind this so much, but there was a point before eating all the ice cream that I felt I had enough. Overall I'd still recommend this place. Who doesn't love chocolate?…read more It wasn't until 1502 that the Europeans embraced the goodness of this yummy treat, when Columbus, on his fourth voyage to the Americas, seized a canoe filled with cocoa beans and brought them to Europe. It was bitter and did not catch on. People couldn't understand why the South American natives loved the stuff. It took about a hundred years until a group of friars added honey to the bitter liquid, making it sweeter and much tastier. With several locations in northern New Jersey, we went to Totowa right off on Union Blvd. Thanks to my partner's sister's recommendation, we arrived at Chocolate House as first-timers to satisfy our sweet tooth. My partner and I were greeted by the staff upon entering this clean and bright interior, who handed us a menu. It featured crêpes, waffles, cheesecakes, pancakes, shakes, and sundaes. We decided on the Strawberry, Banana, and Nutella Crêpe and Brownie Fudge Waffle. The food was exceptional, far superior to any other place we've tried in a long time. The attention to detail in presentation and taste elevates the experience. Seating is limited on a few tables. Price was reasonable, and the service was friendly and quick. We enjoyed our experience and can recommend this place.

They have dessert crepes, waffles, shakes, churros, cakes, sundaes, chocolate dips, etc. Whatever you're craving, they most likely have it. I ordered the S'mores crepe ($10.99) which included nutella, graham cookies, and marshmallows. The prices do seem high for a dessert, but the portion sizes are fairly large. You could easily split it between two people. I'm a big back at heart, so I can finish it all by myself ;) The crepe was heavennnnn sent omg. The employees are always friendly and work quickly. They make everything fresh on the spot, so depending on how busy it is, you may have a bit of a wait. This location doesn't have much seating and is pretty small, so it's more of a take out spot. It's also street parking on a very busy street in Paterson. Don't lose your mind, just think about the desserts.

Riverdale, NJ - it's spring and almost summer which means it's time for ice cream!…read more Located just off the northbound side of route NJ-23, next to a car wash and a Shell gas station, Curly's is a family-owned ice cream shop (three generations an counting) that exudes old school nostalgia and vintage quaintness. I can picture Richie Cunningham, the Fonz and the gang roll up in a Chevy Bel Air after class, their friends working the counter. The ice cream is homemade, and in addition to the classic flavors, there are more interesting creations such as Aztec chocolate, banana Oreo, raspberry cheesecake, cannoli cream, coconut, maple walnut, and seasonal flavors such as apple pie, pumpkin, candy cane, etc. While the ice cream is creamy, the flavor is not as strong or distinctive as I like. It gets busy in the summer, and even in nice weather like an unusually warm last March weekend, the parking lot was filling up, to my surprise. It's not obvious from the front, but there are some picnic tables behind the ice cream shack for seating.

Gym, Tan, Creamatory!!!!!…read more Summer time in Jersey is all about GTC, and not Gym, Tan, Laundry (GTL)... How can a summer be complete without indulging in a sinfully, decadent, velvety, creamy- ice cream... and this ice cream shop did not disappoint on ALL those levels. The owner, Joe, is a diabolical ice cream genius with the concoctions he has come up with. I have never in my life seen an ice cream menu to this extent ever before. When I heard about this spot I had to come and check it out for myself, AND I was blown away... hard ice cream, soft serve, coffee, floats, sundaes, milkshakes- your imagination can run wild here, and this place will still amaze you. Go big AND Go home... I had to "GO BIG" and get a 3 scoop waffle cone (Nutella, Funky Monkey and Cannoli). These were the flavors my tastebuds craved! The best part was the ingredients that went into each ice cream flavor. You can actually see the ingredients packed into each scoop... every bite bursted in robust flavor. With that said, I had to "GO HOME" with 3 different flavored pints. And, since then I've been eating ice cream everyday- SMH! I am sooo amazed by the Cookies-n-Cream. It's filled with soooo many cookies that it's not your average vanilla based cream... so come to the dark side. This is the first time I have fallen in love with a place that makes it by packing that much flavor. Needless to say, winter is coming and these pints will be perfect for a cozy indoor indulgence. MOST importantly... NO freezer burn OR brain freeze! The last thing you want to have is a headache/toothache as you bite down or lick an ice cream cone. In order to compete with the big players in this league, you have to know how to make it from scratch and not cheap out on the ingredients. Having a creamy consistency is HUGE, and tasting ice chips is a BIG no-no for me. Creamatory lives up to the name- which is the icing on the cake... and by the way, they also make their own ice cream cakes. PARTY TIME... This place is built with a huge dining area and party room in the back for some child friendly fun-time. You can either grab some cones or a cake to make your party a memorable one, because with this vast space you can make any kid happy here. FYI: --This is located right off of Rt. 46 in a small shopping center with a large parking lot.
