Note: I did not get any drinks or freshly made foods, just candy. I was excited about this store as my favorite thing to do on vacation is find some local candy. They have a wide variety of candies, including British and some chamoy/tajin offerings. I found some interesting versions of already beloved candy. What caused me to rate them a three is the massive bulk candy wall which was $16.95/lb. I chose a few options to sample with the intention of returning if the options were fresh. I got four types - green paint ball, buttered popcorn jelly belly, cherry strips, and blue raspberry strips. THEY ARE ALL STALE, some so stale they're inedible. This tells me that the store doesn't refresh the bins or clean them much. For that reason alone, I'd find my candy elsewhere. read more

It's rare to find a cafe that has Dutch crunch bread. Thank you Sweet Ethan's for carrying it!! What drew me to this location was their advertised sign for half off Dubai strawberries. Sold! It's so pricey as is, so half off is a score! I just wished it was an everyday deal. I called a week later and asked if they still had it and the guy who answered said no but that they had a special going on through uber eats!! Thank you for that!!! I will forever be a customer for your honesty! Also, their sandwiches are delish! Simple, but with so much flavor! Thanks Ethan! I actually dropped by because I saw they advertised a variety of little side salads and fruit cups for $4. No where else in Claremont Village offers anything fresh for less than $15, and I needed some veggies to add to my sad office lunch. Ethan upsold me a "small" size entree salad instead (tuna avocado). It was definitely big enough to be lunch for me, healthy, and only $9. The house made basil vinaigrette is light and delicious. I'm trying to avoid sweets these days. Who would have thought that a candy cafe might become my go-to lunch spot? I'll be back to try more salads! read more

Sweet Ethan's Candy Café Claremont, CA...Saw this place today and it's close by. I gave it a try, the pastrami sandwich! It didn't disappoint!!! The roll bread was so soft and fresh. I came just before closing time 7 pm, which I didn't know. Cory, the owner is so nice! I got the sandwich with Swiss cheese, lettuce, pickles, mayo, mustard, jalapeños, and pesto sauce. I didn't put onions, tomatoes, or banana peppers. Highly recommend, please come give them a try!!! It's a cool and very clean cafe with sandwiches, candy items, and so much more!!! The store is very cute. I ordered some vanilla gelato. I wish I could say it was good. It was old and it was spoiled. It had an alcohol aftertaste. It tasted fermented. See the video when you went to try and take a spoonful of it it was so gooey that you could not get it on your spoon to be able to take a bite. I did taste it thinking well maybe I'm wrong but no, I wasn't. It's 30 minutes later and I still have that fermented taste in my mouth. It was not good. I'm sure this shop makes good sandwiches, but I think they should get rid of the gelato because they just don't sell enough of it. I also saw some truffles that looked good and I asked them how old they were and they told me that they were from February that was almost a month ago. Now the owner who was scooping the gelato should've easily been able to see that something was wrong with the texture of the gelato again watch my video that I've attached and you'll understand what I mean. This shop is really nostalgic and feel good with all of the candy/sweets varieties. My review is based solely on the Dubai chocolate covered strawberries. As a fan of Dubai chocolate, I found theirs to neither great nor bad. The strawberries were fresh and the chocolate was good, but the pistachio cream and Kinafa were missing something.... I just discovered this gem and I can't wait to go back. It's more of a deli than the name leads you to believe and the sandwiches I saw being made looked amazing! I will definitely get one next time! My friends and I came in to try their Dubai Chocolate cup and it was really good! I know it's pricey, but the ingredients are a pretty penny to begin with so I think you just have to remember all that's going into it. The pistachio cream, the Belgian chocolate, the pastry shreds, fresh strawberries... all tasted very high quality and it did not disappoint. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice and provided great and friendly service. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the candy offerings are amazing. They have almost everything you can think of. Lots of retro candies like Abba-Zaba, Big Hunk, Cracker Jack, Big League Chew, way too many to name. If there's something you've been missing, chances are they have it. The only thing they didn't have, that I looked for, was the buttered popcorn flavor of jelly belly, but they had so many other choices, I'm salivating just thinking about it. This is a boutique style rectangle shop in downtown Claremont... could easily stand alone like Kars Sweets in East Hollywood in my opinion. We purchased their Italian stallion sandwich on their Dutch crunch bread which was more than enough to split between myself and my husband. They have a great kids menu that includes a sandwich, with your choice of bread, a fountain drink, and a bag of chips for $5.95. My three year old and 1 year old split the sandwich. The grilled cheese for the kids on the sourdough and "the Ethan" were perfect. Also, make sure and try their Georgia peach tea! It is the absolute best! We finished off our trip with their HUGE candy selection. They literally have an entire wall of candy and containers of different sizes that you can fill up on your own. Yea. They sell sandwiches too. Why anyone would go to a big chain sandwich shop like Jersey Mike's or Jimmy John's I have no idea. Seriously come here, my pic doesn't do it justice, but it's made fresh and family owned. She was beyond helpful, especially in trying a new recipe for an iced americano since they were out of non-dairy milks. She was quick to suggest an alternative, package my order thoughtfully for the ride, and make authentic conversation while preparing my order. I had the chicken lickin and paesano sandwiches. The chicken was not the thinly sliced, processed meat but thick pieces of moist chicken and the pesto is delicious. We had the strawberry dubai which was unusually yummy with patachio cream mixture. I thought the portions were generous and worth the price. Staff is patient and friendly. I've been back two other times and continue to get the Dubai strawberry. It is still so amazing and so addicting. I think the best thing about this place is the customer service. Which is telling bc their Dubai strawberry is extraordinary. You can tell that they truly care about you and their items. The last two times my husband went back, they remembered him and were beyond friendly. It's so hard to find a businesses that cares as much as they do. We went there on a Friday night June 13th. Downtown was busy but this place was not. They only had one associate working but she was beyond great. I don't like leaving bad reviews but this kid working here really made our visit not pleasant , first off no hello, good evening nothing ... mind you it's a candy store and we have kids , the store was empty and he didn't greet us , we asked him to describe one of the items on the menu he ignored and stood there staring at us , my wife ordered the Dubai strawberry cup , it was good but really skimpy I'd say that's an understatement!
