This is how they dry one of their vegetables. No wonder it tastes so good.

Parking was busy last night, so, I decided to park in the back. What did I notice? The owners putting a vegetable on the hood of their car. I can't see any reason of this being sanitary. Good luck with me going back there. I wonder how they prep the meat. Eat at your own risk.

Yummy and traditional southern Chinese BBQ. My favorites were the beef tendon, lamb, and squid--each had a great char and spice balance. One of the things I loved most was the smoky of firewood in the air--transported me back to my hometown.Would definitely return

I've had maybe 5 different skewer places in the bay so far, and this has to be my favorite spot. It's open to late at night, so it's perfect for those close to midnight cravings. The shop is run by this elderly Asian couple and there's practically no one else working the shop except them. Their English is not the best, but they do try their best. You order by writing numbers next to the menu item you want with a dry erase marker, so that does help with the language barrier. Some items take longer for them to make (sweet potato skewers and the larger dishes), but it was kind of expected with only one person cooking in the back. The overall place looks very much like if the couple opened up their home to you and let you sit in this quiet, ambient living room while they made you food. It gave a lot of nostalgia to my grandma's house. The food was AMAZING. The seasoning was so good and the meat for the beef was so juicy and tender, extremely surprising for the price. Some of the items can a bit colder than expected, like the quail eggs, but I'd still come again 50x over.

Good food, service was okay, quiet place Good late night Really cheap skewers Good smokey char flavor on food Lamb was spot on Squid wasn't so Chives were good String beans probably the best Cold noodle was okay

look at the size of the skewer! probably the biggest skewer in bay area at such an affordable cheap price!! highly recommend!!! very delicious!!

Lamb, squid, chicken heart, beef skewers. All very good but beef and lamb is best

Decided to try this place out for the first time with my partner after a long work day. Just to be straight to the point, the food is great but the service is horrible! As soon as you come in, you sit anywhere and you'll get a menu with a marker. Next to the skewers you write down how many you want but you have to order at least 2 of the same skewer per order. For the other items that they have available, you just add however much order you want and if you want their ramen, you have 9 selections, you write down the # of the ramen you want. We ordered two of the beef, lamb, chicken heart, and squid skewers. The beef and the lamb easily took first place for me. The sear on the meat was great, not dry and packed with flavor, and the spice is well balanced. Definitely would come here just for their skewers. Now, for the ramen, let me tell you now, it's called ramen but the noodles they use is actually udon. I personally love udon noodles but I just think it's misleading to call it "ramen" when it isn't. Other than that the "ramen" was also good. I enjoyed the broth the most. We ordered #6 Chicken Ramen and #1 House Special Ramen. The broth on the chicken ramen was very flavorful. The downside is that we did mark everything wanted to order (4 different types of skewers, 2 ramens, hot tea, and a sprite). We marked All of these on the menu they gave to us but they still managed to miss a lot of our orders. Keep in mind, the place is ran by two elderly couple who hardly speaks English which made communicating challenging. It took a while for us to get our order. The elderly man brought us our skewers but missed the lamb skewers. He came out with the chicken ramen but he overlooked the other ramen we ordered which sucked because again, the wait took forever. We thought they were still making the ramen and was just taking a bit longer but they just didn't look well enough even though it was right next to the #6. After we did a follow up on the other ramen, we also reminded him that we haven't gotten our drink orders and ok'd it. He then went to the kitchen to get the #1 ramen started but he again forgot about our drinks.. we had to remind him of it again and it took a minute for him to get it to us. Finally, he came with just the hot tea and completely forgot about the sprite. At this point, we were just over it and didn't bother. We enjoyed our hot tea while waiting for ramen #1. Each order must've taken longer than 20 minutes because we got there around 11:30pm and left at 1:00am. I grew impatient trying to wait for my ramen and I was already exhausted from working all day so I decided to just make it to-go.. The skewers I'd say is a solid 4/5. The chicken heart was a bit tough but still had a good flavor and the squids whatever but the beef and lamb were just great. The "ramen" is a solid 3. I dont really see many restaurants serve just udon dishes so it's great to find one with a variety of flavors. They should definitely change it to udon noodles though. Customer service is a solid 0. They need to hire someone younger and is bilingual. The ordering was made easy because you just have to mark what you want but they were still missing things which I found absurd.

This review was for pre-COVID-19. My friend and I came here for an early and light dinner around 6pm on a Friday back on 1/10/20. The parking around here was okay and you should be able to find parking. This place was empty when we came here. The decor had a very fast-food like vibe with the tables and benches connected to each other. We ordered 6 beef kabob ($1.95 each), 2 lamb kabob ($1.95 each), 2 chicken kabob ($1.75 each), and 1 string bean ($1.75 each). We snacked before we came here so that's why we didn't order a lot of food. The food took a while to come out but there was only one person working here at the time. Everything we received had the same or similar seasoning on top which was a little spicy. I thought everything we ordered was okay. Overall, I thought the food here was okay at best.

When you enter and get seated, you will be prompted to go on the url code at the table to pick your items. While I understand that this is the new way for restaurants to serve guests post-covid, the vast menu items you have to scroll through makes me long for physical menus of the past - but that's just my boomer take for the day. There were a bunch of other items like rice and noodle dishes that looked interesting to pair with the meats, but we were only craving bbq so we skipped out on the carbs. We ordered a BUNCH of skewers, from the standard beef, lamb, pork belly to chicken skin and a fried quail. All of the skewers had the same type of dried chili powder spice seasoning mix so unfortunately there wasn't too much of a diversity in flavor profile but on the flip side, it allowed us to focus more on enjoying the meat quality itself (this is where rice or noodles would definitely help cut through the richness). All of the meats were incredibly well-cooked and charred. It is on the drier side, so be aware if you are looking for a juicier, plumper cut of meat that some other restaurants have. Paired with the Chinese vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil, they were super delectable. My personal favorites were the pork belly, chicken skin, and beef. We had some leftovers to go and the staff provided us some extra sauce to go so that's a big plus. Great food here and definitely will be back to try more of the other menu items for the full experience.

We always order the cucumber salad here and dip our skewer meat into the sauce. Absolutely delicious! Their decor is fun, too. There are large, ornate wooden tables with candle heated (sterno style) warming plates throughout the whole restaurant. The ceiling is completely covered with hanging pink flowers. And not sure if they still have entertainment on weekend nights, but a few times in the past they had a musician playing a Chinese zither. If you like skewers, this place is definitely worth a visit.

It was a bit unorganized and people walking around but not sure where to seat us. We finally got seated and had to wait a while and waved down people a few times to get out orders in. It is okay, I am here for the good, not the service after all. Right? I was disappointed. The oyster pancake was extremely fishy. The rice cake (well not really a cake but inverted sticky rice cup) was cold and where is the pork floss? The chicken rolls were decent, the best dish. I didn't try the fried intestines but was told there were okay. The stinky tofu not really stinky. I think it is because we are in the US and many restaurants stopped selling this due to complaints. I can take that but the dipping sauce was lacking with no garlic flavor. The other items were nothing to write home about. We were waiting for our stir fried seafood noodles and finally waved down someone only to find out it is out, but no one told us. So we ordered pork chop bento as we saw the next table had one and the portion was amazing. Well, someone must have eaten our order in the kitchen as ours was half of the size as what we saw from the other table. The decor was very simple and as with most Asian restaurant it was noisy. But I was there for the food so no problem. But the food didn't deliver.

Most people, local and from afar, come here for their 3-dish menu. When we first started eating here more than a decade ago, it was $19.50. But with inflation surging once again, the price has gone up to $38.99, which is still reasonable compared to other Cantonese restaurants in the East Bay. Our most recent visit took place on 11/15/2025. After attending the Bolo Yeung "You Are Next!" Autograph Signing Event at the Great Mall, four of us came here for dinner. It was busy when we walked in at around 6:20pm. The place was 90% full, with many others waiting for their takeout orders. We scored the last round table. The friendly tall waitress came by to say hi and dropped out a couple menus. (For those of you who don't know who Bolo is, he's the original "Beast of the East" and was featured in movies such as "Enter the Dragon", "Bloodsport", and "Double Impact".) We ordered a total of seven dishes. The quality was good as usual. The standouts were the scrambled eggs with shrimp and yellow chives (soft and creamy inside), Peking pork chops (crispy, meaty pork chops perfectly coated in a tangy sauce/best in the East Bay), and the bean curd strips and pork stir-fry. The tall waitress provided excellent service. She talked to us like family and was very efficient. She's been with this restaurant for a long time and if I recall correctly, she is mainly doing this for kicks (and some spending money). If you want some good Chinese food that doesn't break the bank, this is the place to be. Still 4 stars.

She was right; we appreciated her help and took boxes to go. The food was great and my friend flew back to Connecticut happy. In February, my wife threw a bridal shower and decided to use Good Neighbor to provide all the food. She went to order on her lunch break and met with the owners to choose the dishes. They were helpful and informative. The day of the shower, they helped me load all the boxes into the vehicle, using a cart for transport. The important thing to note was the cost was reasonable for feeding 20 people. The food was enjoyed by all the guests and we had leftovers for dinner! You just can't beat that today. There's a ton of parking and they treat all their customers well. Only thing to note is they are closed on Tuesdays.

Don't let the fair pricing fool you, it is a really nice restaurant!! The interior is incredibly clean & well maintained, it's a whole experience having dinner there. After dinner (if you have children, this is key) they give you a scoop of ice cream, which is included with your dinner / lunch. I took my little daughter there once, for lunch, during daddy-daughter day. She REALLY enjoyed it. They have great meat options & the noodles, vegetables, etc - you go grab yourself, buffet style. So you go load a plate with whatever you'd like to add to your cook pot, along with the meat. They have little soft boiled quail eggs that you can add to your pot - HIGHLY recommend!! They have, if I recall, 4 or 5 different soup bases to choose from. I've had three thus far & they have all been incredibly good. PLEASE NOTE - the spicy one is no joke, I am a spicy food connoisseur & I will admit, even on my "0-10" scale, that red spicy soup base was easily an 8. Interestingly enough albeit very spicy, the red soup base has excellent flavor; in other words it's not just pure pain & terror & capsaicin overdose... It's spicy AND very flavorful. Give these guys a try!! We will definitely be returning, although this has to be more of a quarterly thing. As eating hot pot with little kids is NOT easy for parents - constantly making sure they don't spill boiling soup on themselves. What we did was asked for a bowl / plate; so we could serve the children the various meats, noodles, vegetables after they were cooked... Also to prevent the children from sticking spoons into a vigorously boiling pot. (SAFETY NOTE - the cook pots are directly in the table, built-in cooktops. So be vigilant with small children. The wait staff will give you a tutorial on how to increase/decrease the heat on the burner and/or how to shut it off when you're done cooking. Aside from my concern of the children burning themselves, it is an EXCELLENT experience for kids nevertheless).
