I've had maybe 5 different skewer places in the bay so far, and this has to be my favorite spot. It's open to late at night, so it's perfect for those close to midnight cravings. The shop is run by this elderly Asian couple and there's practically no one else working the shop except them. Their English is not the best, but they do try their best. You order by writing numbers next to the menu item you want with a dry erase marker, so that does help with the language barrier. Some items take longer for them to make (sweet potato skewers and the larger dishes), but it was kind of expected with only one person cooking in the back. The overall place looks very much like if the couple opened up their home to you and let you sit in this quiet, ambient living room while they made you food. It gave a lot of nostalgia to my grandma's house. The food was AMAZING. The seasoning was so good and the meat for the beef was so juicy and tender, extremely surprising for the price. We ordered some skewers and beer thinking it will be a quick meal... Decided to try this place out for the first time with my partner after a long work day. Just to be straight to the point, the food is great but the service is horrible! As soon as you come in, you sit anywhere and you'll get a menu with a marker. Next to the skewers you write down how many you want but you have to order at least 2 of the same skewer per order. For the other items that they have available, you just add however much order you want and if you want their ramen, you have 9 selections, you write down the # of the ramen you want. We ordered two of the beef, lamb, chicken heart, and squid skewers. The beef and the lamb easily took first place for me. The sear on the meat was great, not dry and packed with flavor, and the spice is well balanced. Definitely would come here just for their skewers. Now, for the ramen, let me tell you now, it's called ramen but the noodles they use is actually udon. I personally love udon noodles but I just think it's misleading to call it "ramen" when it isn't. Other than that the "ramen" was also good. I enjoyed the broth the most. We ordered #6 Chicken Ramen and #1 House Special Ramen. The broth on the chicken ramen was very flavorful. The downside is that we did mark everything wanted to order (4 different types of skewers, 2 ramens, hot tea, and a sprite). We marked All of these on the menu they gave to us but they still managed to miss a lot of our orders. Keep in mind, the place is ran by two elderly couple who hardly speaks English which made communicating challenging. It took a while for us to get our order. The elderly man brought us our skewers but missed the lamb skewers. He came out with the chicken ramen but he overlooked the other ramen we ordered which sucked because again, the wait took forever. We thought they were still making the ramen and was just taking a bit longer but they just didn't look well enough even though it was right next to the #6. After we did a follow up on the other ramen, we also reminded him that we haven't gotten our drink orders and ok'd it. He then went to the kitchen to get the #1 ramen started but he again forgot about our drinks.. we had to remind him of it again and it took a minute for him to get it to us. Finally, he came with just the hot tea and completely forgot about the sprite. At this point, we were just over it and didn't bother. We enjoyed our hot tea while waiting for ramen #1. Each order must've taken longer than 20 minutes because we got there around 11:30pm and left at 1:00am. I grew impatient trying to wait for my ramen and I was already exhausted from working all day so I decided to just make it to-go.. The skewers I'd say is a solid 4/5. The chicken heart was a bit tough but still had a good flavor and the squids whatever but the beef and lamb were just great. The "ramen" is a solid 3. I dont really see many restaurants serve just udon dishes so it's great to find one with a variety of flavors. They should definitely change it to udon noodles though. Customer service is a solid 0. They need to hire someone younger and is bilingual. The ordering was made easy because you just have to mark what you want but they were still missing things which I found absurd. read more

The parking around here was okay and you should be able to find parking. This place was empty when we came here. The decor had a very fast-food like vibe with the tables and benches connected to each other. We ordered 6 beef kabob ($1.95 each), 2 lamb kabob ($1.95 each), 2 chicken kabob ($1.75 each), and 1 string bean ($1.75 each). We snacked before we came here so that's why we didn't order a lot of food. The food took a while to come out but there was only one person working here at the time. My boyfriend and I always come to this place whenever we crave skewers. There's no fancy decoration, it's just like eating at a house of a Chinese family. But, their skewers are really good. Food 4/5 Service 1/5. We waited 2 hours for chives that take 1 minute to sautee or grill and it was the last item we received at the end of hour 2 hour long dining experience here. So we walked in and there were maybe 2-3 other small groups that came in within 10 minutes of us. The man manning the register and menus didn't speak English but we were able to place our order nonetheless because the menus are plastic and you use a dry erase marker to place the # of sticks you want for each item. My experience this visit, we saw that they don't have great time management as we see the cook from our table shuffling tickets and looking over several tickets at once instead of managing the orders in the order in which they came. We came in around 7:15 p.m. and didn't finish until 9:15 p.m. This was really the slowest and poorest service I have ever received anywhere. There were 6 tables unbussed. And it wasn't until the old man's kid that walked in with his girlfriend around 9 pm in to start bussing and cleaning the tables. This is fact and not an overexaggeration. The fact that the orders were coming out of order and taking wayyy too long was getting really awkward and uncomfortable. There was a woman who was there before all of us and had a small order TO GO of but a few sticks of bbq and she got her orders dead last!! So awkward and I felt bad for her! I can see her shaking her head after asking her orders but I couldn't understand what exactly was said because it was in Mandarin or Cantonese. There was also a table of two males who received their order second to another couple that came after them and I saw the shock on their face when this happened. One good thing: the bbq is good. But it is not worth the disrespect and lack of customer service I experienced and the other customers experienced. After ordering a small handful to 'try', I was instantly blown away by the flavor and ordered more (and beer!). The skewers are well seasoned (cumin + chili powder), the food hot, and the options are vast. The meat (beef, lamb, chicken hearts, chicken gristle, and chicken wings) are very tender. Based off the smoked flavor, the food is likely grilled via charcoal. The only thing I didnt like was the coriander rolls. I have been to other skewer/yakitori places around the bay, but find myself coming back to this one. I am sure some visitors will not find the service so good. Food came 5-10 mins later and it was tasteless and very oily. The last dish was the garlic white meats, it was the worst thing we ever had! The meat tastes like microwaved food and very greasy and I almost threw up, we ask about canceling it and the older man said they cannot cancel since it's already made, we let it untouched. String Beans (x2) - One of the best dishes. There's around 8-10 beans per stack and by the way, I love the BBQ "sauce" they put on it as it is only slightly spicy but packs a lot of punch. 2. Corn (x2) - I felt like this was a little bit too tough for me, and the sauce was not spread evenly, but it will fill you up. 3. Beef Kabob (x5) - I really like the flavor and how meaty the stick was, but I felt like it was a little bit too tough for me. 4. Lamb Kabob (x5) - The star of the whole night, maybe other than the potatoes. If you don't order anything but this, it is still really worth it :). The lamb is so tender and cooked at a perfect medium, medium-rare. 5. Slice Bun (x2) - Despite it's name, it actually tastes really good. There are 2 pieces per stick and the spice they add on slightly caramelizes the bun so you can won't have to worry about the lack of flavor. 6. Potato - Get this dish! You will not regret it! The potato soaks up all the spices so it's like a flavor bomb inside your mouth. 7. Squid - I'm usually not a fan of squid but this was actually really good and tender. It was not overly chewy and you can actually taste the spice that is on the dish. 8. Tofu - They give you 10 per order but I feel like it's not really special. Think of this dish like a "break" dish from all the meat eaten. 9. Onion Pancake - Do not recommend. Seems like something you can get from a frozen food aisle, very chewy.
