Peach Dandy
Justin W.

We were craving something sweet when we happened to pass by this place. I figured ice cream would hit the spot, so I made a u-turn and fishtailed into the parking lot. After getting a picture by the life-size cow out front, we checked out the menu and ventured our way inside. My girlfriend opted for the standard soft serve swirl cone, while I decided to be more adventurous and try something new. I ordered up the Peach Dandy, which was very nice. Very quaint place with lots of delicious options (the gallon-size carton of chocolate milk looked pretty darn good) and cow paraphernalia. The owner (who prepared our order) was very nice and friendly. And while I'm not sorry for what I ordered, I would have preferred something chocolatey, like a milkshake. Then again, I can get that anywhere. And I was craving some chocolate chip ice cream and I didn't see it on the menu as an option (only later did I realize they did have it, but it's labeled "Coco Loco"). If you're in the Elkton area and are looking for a lovely little treat, this is definitely the place to go. And it's great if you have kids, but just know - no climbing on the cow!

Pineapple dole whip and blueberry ice cream

One of the only places near there that takes credit card and not cash only. :) We tried the blueberry ice cream which was very good. Since it was summer, we were also able to try the pineapple dole whip. Great place for ice cream.

Grasshopper sundae

We almost didn't make it here because yelp directions is a little off.just a little farther down road, not down side street East Lewis rd. The sundaes are sinful !! They re pretty big too so two could probably share one. Two specialty sundaes and a drink will cost you about 17 bucks. So big tho I couldn't finish it. Yummy and pretty

Fun ice cream shop with lots to choose from. It was pretty busy so the wait was somewhat long but we enjoyed it.

Somerset Farms - Chocolate peanut butter and Frozen in a waffle cone

When visiting my dad in Delaware, driving to this ice cream stand down the street from his house is always a treat. Others seem to think so as well, because there is usually a line, which moves quickly. The service has always been friendly. They have about 25 flavors at exceptionally good prices. You can purchase individual cups/cones and even pints to take home and enjoy later. The ice cream is thick and creamy. The all natural ice cream is supplied by the Woodside Farm Creamery, also located in Newark, DE. We have tried the Frozen, Butter Pecan, Vanilla, Chocolate Thunder, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Black Cherry. They all are great, just depends on your mood. The even have a pup cup, which we treated my sister's dog, Bear, to. It's a scoop of ice cream with a dog treat on top. We got Bear vanilla and to say he devoured it would be an understatement.

With a large variety of flavors we will need to come back again. I got a scoop of Chocolate Peanut Butter and Frozen (mint with Oreos) in a waffle cone and I really enjoyed it. The ice cream was creamy and you could definitely tell it had a high fat content because even though it was about 80 degrees outside the ice cream stayed intact on the cone without dripping. It was a bit pricey but I'm general we liked the outdoor seating, the abundance of flavor options, and the friendly service!

I waited at one window and the clerk saw me but waited until someone else came at another window to wait on them. I asked her why she did that and she said that people normally order from that window. I asked her how I would know because there are 3 of them with no signs directing you where to order. Tip: Order from the end window, with your back against Pulaski Highway. Today I got a "Regular Waffle Cone" with 3 scoops: Horchata (incredible!), caramel cheesecake (blah, tasted like vanilla, what caramel?), and peanut butter puddles (very good). There was only one person working each time I went. They take each order, ring them up, make it, and move on to the next. It's a lot for one person. Business seems good, for good reason. While service definitely has room for improvement, the ice cream itself merits 5 stars! When I am in the area it will be a regular stop. NOTE: This review was from 2 years ago. Apparently, I posted under the wrong location...

So we ordered two small cones (waffle of course). Small cones come with two scoops on ice cream. We ordered one of them with one scoop of fudge ripple and mint but only had two scoops of fudge ripple... Kinda of disappointing because it's not what we ordered. The other ice cream came correct. We both ordered hard ice cream. I didn't see anyone with soft serve, it'd be weird if an in cream place didn't have soft serve but it didn't seem like an option. Seems like every ice cream place should have a classic twist but maybe it's just me. Also this ice cream is VERY sweet by itself. I prefer a creamy less sugary ice cream. So if you're looking to get the wrong ice cream and fill your sweet tooth this is your place.

Be warned their portions are very generous, I usually get a small if I want a rather large amount of ice cream, and even the kids size is very generous! They also offer pints and quarts to go, plus a selection of cheeses. The staff is also very kind every time. I recently discovered there's a walking trail that leads to the farm behind the creamery. There are benches and seating along the way, making it a great spot to hang out. Just a heads up: most of the outdoor seating is currently under construction as they expand the area, but it looks like it'll be even better once it's finished.

Great selection of flavors, absolutely delicious and perfectly creamy true ice cream. It was nice enough to sit outside at a picnic table which always makes it more fun. Though the decision was tough, today I went with a scoop of 1923 which is French vanilla ice cream with chocolate chunks and a salted caramel swirl. Sooooo many great sounding flavors! Though my usual go-to flavor is their classic Cookies & Cream, I need to go back soon to try the Holy Fluffernutter!! In addition to many freshly scooped ice cream options, they also sell ice cream by the pint or half gallon, and they have other ice cream treats, artisan cheeses, and some fun merch. They have plenty of parking, as it sits next to the Fred Rust Ice Arena. You're likely to find long lines as we get further into the warm weather seasons, but we always find it worth the wait when that happens.

Casa Mezcal - Hawaiian Fajita

We stopped in on a Tuesday evening and were seated right away. It wasn't busy when we arrived, and while it did start to fill up, there was never a wait. The restaurant itself was clean and casual, and they do serve alcohol (it looked like they have happy hour specials as well, though we didn't try any). They brought out complimentary chips and salsa to start, with a note on the menu that a second basket comes with a charge. One thing to be aware of: the chips are not made in a dedicated fryer, so they aren't gluten-free. Service was a bit of a mixed experience. There was definitely a language barrier, which made communication difficult at times--our questions often had to go through multiple staff members before we got an answer. Food came out pretty quickly, which we appreciated since we were in a rush. That said, there were some hits and misses. I ordered tacos al pastor but was given steak tacos instead. I tried to explain the mix-up, but it wasn't resolved, and due to time, I just ate them. Unfortunately, the steak was overcooked and tough, and the tacos themselves were very basic--just meat on a corn tortilla, with extras like sour cream costing more. On the plus side, my nephew really enjoyed his kids' cheese quesadilla and fries (the fries looked crispy and well-made). Someone in our group liked the chorizo quesadilla, and another had the birria tacos and thought they were just okay--nothing standout, especially compared to other places. Pricing felt a bit high for the portion size and overall quality. There is a small parking lot, but we didn't have trouble finding a spot, which is always a plus. Overall, Casa Mezcal was convenient and quick, but between the order mix-up, inconsistent food quality, and communication challenges, it didn't fully hit the mark for us. I'd consider giving it another try if I were in the area, but with adjusted expectations.

We tried a new appetizer (I can't remember the name but it was a crab appetizer). The crab was fresh and overall, delish. We ordered the Hairy Chinn sushi again, as we did love that the first time. We both got cocktails from their menu, and they were both so unique and refreshing (we even ordered a second round!). I tried a chef special, which was the Picanha & Charred Scallion. When I tell you, it was absolutely perfect! Everything, even down to the olive oil mixture was tasty. My fiancé ordered the crab cakes and he raved about them as well! We ordered a side of Candied Brussels sprouts - and they were easily the best Brussels sprouts we've ever tried. We couldn't resist dessert and got the crème brûlée. We loved every bit! The service was 10/10, and our server was great. She was attentive, friendly, and knew the menu well! Valet parking moved much quicker, and you can't beat the beautiful view of the boats and the water. Inviting us back has certainly turned us into loyal customers and we cannot wait to come back!
