Super convenient spot just outside the end of the pier from the cruise ships. We stopped in after our excursion that included an hour at a restaurant on the beach but offered no food to purchase (weird!). When we walked in they handed us 2 menus and pointed to the stairs. There's a narrow catwalk with a few deuces along the windows. Service was quick (by Caribbean standards ), with drinks delivered promptly, even during a busy lunch rush. There is no rum punch on the menu but they have it and it's refreshingly delicious. My husband ordered the Diablo cocktail - also yummy! I read that the conch fritters were great - I'm not sure I'd say "great." They are flat and a little dry with more a suggestion of conch flavor rather than discernible chunks of conch. Still if you've got a hankering, it's convenient and they are tasty - especially the sauce. They come with 3 in the order. Hubs ordered the fish sandwich with fries and enjoyed it although he noted the ketchup was sweeter and thinner than US style ketchup. He liked it. I ordered the pan fried (grilled) grouper that came with a home-style cole slaw and seasoned rice with a few black beans mixed in. Tartar sauce came in a squirt bottle and lemon on the side. The fish was seasoned well and priced great. I heard others around us raving about the fish and chips, too. There is a vegetarian section on their menu but I don't know how easy it would be to get anything vegan except a salad. At the end you walk up to the bar / hostess area to collect your check and pay. They take visa and Mastercard and have prices on their menu in both the local currency and US dollars. They clearly are happy to cater to cruise ship passengers! Great laid back place. read more

After recommendations from fellow cruisers as to the best place in Caribbean for conch fritters, we decided to pop in and give these fritters a try. Service was good and the place wasn't very busy at all. We were immediately seated and our order taken. Sadly, for our taste, the fritters were dry and lacking of any conch flavor. We also ordered wings and they were ok. Topped the meal off with a rum punch and went back to the ship to eat. The rum punch was the best tasting item we had! Our tour guide suggested this restaurant and it did not disappoint! We ordered her suggested Garlic Shrimp and stuffed Shrimp and both dishes were outstanding! They were bursting with flavor! The garlic shrimp was cooked with onion and it tasted garlicky, sweet, and buttery. Also, the servers sat us immediately and they were all really friendly. To top it all, the restaurant has AC! During our visit to the island we asked a couple taxi drivers for recommendations on local food, and this is one of the places they recommended when in main town near Port Zante. It's a cute place, really relaxing vibe with AC inside. I like the island charm decor. The servers are friendly and food is not bad. The starter Conch Fritters was okay. We'd visited this restaurant a few times in the past and it was always delicious with great service. This time was a little different. Our waiter was kind of new and didn't know much about the offerings. A manager came over to confirm the order he took. With two mains and a few appetizers the food came, and it looked significantly different than it did. Last year, the flavors were different. The sauces were different, and the conch fritters were extremely overcooked. We were hungry so we ate what we could. The garlic sauce tasted like a sugary, teriyaki sauce with strong lemon. The rice and peas was really bland, coleslaw was okay. We got the bill with two sets of taxes (20% and 10%, respectively) and an added service charge equivalent to the higher tax. I ended up with a sour stomach and a day in the lavatory. I think this was my last visit. read more

Our cruise includes a stop at Bassierre St. Kitts and someone recommended Sweet Cane as a good, local lunch spot. It was excellent advice! We had the conch fritters to start. Man, so delicious and portion size for 2 people was just right. My wife had the beef creole with house made mashed potatoes. She loved it! I had the seafood linguini. It was wonderful. The service was as good as any I've experienced, even in high end restaurants in the States. We highly recommend Sweet Cane's and will return every time we find ourselves in St Kitts! read more

Based on all these great reviews, came here for lunch while in St Kitts on a Celebrity Beyond cruise stop and were not disappointed! The restaurant was quiet and cool with fast and friendly service. We had the fish and chips, and the beer battered grouper was incredibly fresh, flaky and delicate on the inside, crunchy non-greasy outside; as well as the crab stuffed shrimp, also cooked perfectly. Love the food here. Skip the food court. This restaurant is walking distance from our ship and the food was so good. We had the crab stuffed shrimp since it was recommended by the waitress. The shrimp melted in your mouth and was seasoned to perfection. read more

The food was delicious and the ladies were so gracious. My sister and I were there on a cruise stop over and after driving atvs in the mountains we decided to get there as suggested by one of our tour guides. We are so glad that we did stopped by. We had a drink while we waited for our food since we decided to take it to go. Sweet Cane is exactly what we were looking for after a long day of quading through the hills and mountains of St. Kitts. The staff was pleasant from beginning to end. We were starving after not eating all day and still decided to stay after being told it would be 45 minutes to an hour due to a large phone in order that needed to be accommodated. The servers who doubled as hostess made sure to let each guest know as they came in to look for seating. We really appreciated the communication. Our server was so pleasant! She was the first pleasant person we'd encountered all day. The food was well worth the wait!! I order the fish and chips, my girlfriend had the salmon and we split an order of jerk wings. Everything came out hot and the food was delicious. The flavors were great all around. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The wings were crispy but not over cooked at all and the jerk sauce added a nice kick. It was nice that although the kitchen was behind on orders everything was cooked with care and not rushed at all. We also had a few rounds of lychee mojitos. Absolutely would recommend Sweet Cane and if we return to St. Kitts we'll definitely be back! read more
