We have been here several times and everything we have purchased has been great…read more I am a big fan of the small filled croissants and try to get a different flavor every time. This trip I got a blueberry, a creme cheese and a Boston cream one. My favorite was the Boston cream, my least favorite was the cream cheese. We also got a glazed donut and a twist, both of these for the first time. The donut was better than you can get at the famous places. The twist was a cross between a donut and a cinnamon roll. Very good. There was a line when we arrived but it moved fairly quickly. There was only one person at the register, he was filling orders, answering the phone and taking payments, so not real friendly, but not rude. I noticed while we were walking that they have a good selection of other dishes other than sweet stuff. Tempted to try something different next time. We sat in the adjoining seating area that is shared with a sandwich shop. The seating area was clean and huge. No trouble finding a seat here. I am sure we will continue to stop here on every trip.

Darell's Bakery is located in the small town (at least to me) of Whiteville. While I didn't visit…read morethe bakery itself (yet) someone brought in a box of filled croissant goodies from here on my first shift at the local hospital. Even though it was day one and I did not know anyone, I could not resist in taking something from the box. I'm fairly sure there was an assortment in the box, but I wasn't going to be the new guy AND the picky guy, so I just randomly grabbed one. I happened to pick what I can only assume was Bavarian cream and immediately wanted to be THAT new guy and get more. I didn't do that, though. But the croissant was flakey and the cream was perfect. The following week, I tried to drop by before my shift. I followed my GPS to the strip mall it is located in. As soon as I arrived, I was excited to get a few items and even have time to eat one or two in the shop before going to work. It looks small from the outside and cozy through the window. Unfortunately, it was a holiday weekend and they were closed that day. I will definitely try again the next time I'm out there!
