Dan and Tracy are class act business people in a market where it is so easy to get stuck with meat-head carpenters pretending to be business professionals. They aren't the cheapest but they are the most trustworthy remodel design advisors and Dan's construction work is top notch. Truly class act construction work and design help. This was our 1st experience with remodelling contractors. We had heard so many horror stories about remodel contractors in this area. It is a huge resort, Lake / Cabin area with thousands of wealthy cabin/home owners from Hollywood and professional sports stars. Contractors come and go, taking advantage of the short supply, cutting corners to make a profit and then moving on. It is very difficult to find reputable ones. We used Home Advisor to ensure the contractor was vetted. We live 8 hours away from the home we wanted remodelled. We couldn't be there for most of the work and needed a contractor we could trust to deal with issues from afar. Tracy Swanson was by far the most trustworthy design contact person we spoke with. Her taste in recommended design choices was impeccable. Dan was obviously experienced and knowledgeable about what we wanted done. They were just straight-taking, upstanding and trustworthy folks who care about their work and the people they serve. They were flexible and very helpful in evolving the bid to meet our constraints while optimizing the quality and appeal of the remodel. We had time constraints to complete the work in time to support our summer vacation rental schedule. They worked magic in dealing with the impact of the COVID pandemic on their supply chain, ultimately meeting our timeline needs just in time for the vacation rental business to come back from the Pandemic. I had my roof done 20 years ago by the owner and his crew, love the roof. Over the years from a few storms I had some minor issues of shingles being ripped from the roof. All it took was a phobe call and it was taken care of. This past August when we had a storm, I lost some shingles and the owners son came to access the situation. He arrived all of 15 minutes late and the first words out of his mouth was "Sorry I'm late", this young man knows how to address customers as he obviously learned from a great example, his father. I bought a fixer upper in Oceanside a year ago that had many leaks so I received quotes from 3 roofing companies. Two told me off the bat that I needed to replace the entire roof. Swanson took a closer look and realized the real problem was my gutters, leaders, and a couple of windows on my second floor. For a fraction of the price, the problem was fixed. Very disappointed. They came to give me a quote, and I accepted his quote on the spot. He said he would be back the next day to do the job... was a no show. When I called I got voice mail saying they were on vacation until the following week. A few days after they came back I called and a woman apologized and said they would stop by the following day. Again a no show. Granted it wasnt a big job, but dont make empty promises... have me waiting around for a no show on 2 seperate occassions. Very lame. They give contractors a bad name. I hired Swanson to fix a leak in my kitchen, one I've tried to patch myself several times. Their estimate was less than half of the Leak Stopper folks, and they came within two weeks of the estimate. Work looks excellent (inspected it myself) and I have been leak free for over a year. I'm a bit surprised at Peggy's review, but I don't think that's the norm of these guys. And as for Don's review, these guys are a fairly small shop, but they do good work. This is the struggle that is contracting - if you go with a big shop, they charge you a lot more money but tend to be more available and have multiple crews. When you go with a smaller shop, the price is less, but you'll have to be patient on getting call backs and scheduled appointments. read more

installed cedar impressions siding; did not supervise installation; no flashing was installed on kitchen roof resulting in leaking; when contacted he came and double talked and offered to put tar on leak which is only a temporary fix; he refused to do the flashing - a job that costs another $1100 to do; job was not done properly; he acted like a thug and stormed out and did not do anything to stop the leak; had to hire another contractor to fix siding that was falling off because it was not installed properly; This is a shoddy, unprofessional, rip off business!!! read more
