My wife and I were interested in converting our wood-burning fireplace to gas in our family room…read more After visiting a couple of other fireplace stores, we drove to The Fireplace Store in Seaford. They had the nicest showroom of the four stores we visited. I met with the owner, Craig, to discuss different options. I explained to Craig that we were primarily interested in using the fireplace for aesthetics. Although we thought we wanted the more expensive gas insert, Craig informed me the gas log set would do a better job of meeting our needs. I returned a few days later with my wife, and we had a similar discussion with Jeff. Although we really liked the look of the gas inserts, Jeff convinced us it was not for us. My wife and I don't like being hot, and we wouldn't use it enough with small kids running around. Craig visited my house a couple weeks later to take measurements, and we placed the order. He told me to expect a call in 3-4 weeks for the installation. Craig called 3 weeks later and my fireplace was installed 4 weeks after placing the order. The installer showed up during the installation window and he was very neat and quick. After he finished and left, I noticed one of the doors was not properly aligned. I called Craig and he came to the house within 30 minutes to fix it. He apologized for the error and said, "It has to be perfect." Overall, my wife and I could not be happier with the product, the service, and the team. I highly recommend The Fireplace Store for your fireplace needs.

I recently moved into a flip and, to both of our surprise, discovered feet of concrete and bricks stuffed in the middle of my chimney -- meaning my hot water heater and gas line weren't venting properly. Oscar and his team quite literally saved my life. When you buy a new home, you never know what surprises are waiting behind the walls. Oscar went above and beyond to make sure I was safe, that the job was done correctly, and that they'd leave with absolutely no trace they were ever there. Mid-project, they had to open a wall, and not only did they patch the drywall, but they painted it, too -- you'd never know it was touched. He took the time to explain everything in detail so I could actually understand the process, documented every step, and made me feel like a true partner in the project. One thing he said that really stuck with me was: "I know you own the house, but it's our fireplace now." That level of care and pride in his work says it all. Oscar is the definition of integrity, skill, and kindness. If you're lucky enough to get on his schedule, you're in the best hands possible. I can't recommend him highly enough.

So I googled fireplace conversions in Nassau County and the Fireplace Factory in Bellmore was the first listing. I called and spoke to Jocelyn who suggested I talk to Tom. I told him what I wanted. We discussed pricing and other options. I made an appointment and went there with pictures of what I have in my living room. I couldn't believe how many choices there are. Tom was wonderful! My house isn't set up for a fireplace which would heat the room, so I looked at the ones that were decorative. I found a very nice white birch model which would be perfect. I signed a contract and was on my way. I needed a plumber to make the conversion. Rather than choosing one of my own, I went with their plumbers, Clearway Plumbing and Heating in Blue Point. They were awesome. They were upstairs, downstairs, outside and inside, making all the necessary connections with my gas line. They spent an afternoon here and when they were finished, my house was immaculate. The next step was having the insert installed. There were several glitches trying to schedule a time, but Tom took care of it for me. The actual set up is done by Chris, who's been installing fireplaces for 31 years. When he was finished, he handed me a remote control for my new gas fireplace! Push a button to turn it on. Push a button to turn it off. Wow! A big thumbs up to the Fireplace Factory, their staff, their plumbers and their installer. My fireplace is beautiful, and I couldn't be happier!

We started with a consultation with David who did a great job helping us pick a unit and mantle design. We signed a contract with an expected turnaround time of 6-8 weeks taking us to March. This was an important point for us as we have a 4 year old and needed this done quickly to minimize the disruption to her space. The project wrapped up this week (May) due to multiple delays related to their suppliers and sub contractors. Communication with the Project Manager assigned to this project was not great and I found myself following up quite often and being given information that was incorrect related to scheduling. This was the most frustrating part and only reason the review isn't five stars. One thing I'd point out; both David and the owner were responsive when I ended up escalating the delays. However, there wasn't much they could do to remedy the situation, but I appreciate they were responsive. Overall, I would recommend Fireplace Factory as the quality of work was great. Also the workers that came into our home were very professional and did a fantastic job keeping the space clean and with the overall quality. We are super excited with the end result and can't wait for the Fall to start using this often. I'd caution to give yourself a good amount of buffer for the completion date of the project. I was told this was an unusual experience, but as it's my only one, I can't validate if that is true or not.

So when the second one finally died, replacing it ASAP turned out to be more frustrating than expected. Checking out every open retailer on a Sunday afternoon turned up one spa that met my lounge, controls, access panel placements, size, delivery, and budget requirements. If not for a serious reservation (about spray foam insulation) I would have ordered it that day. Fortunately, I waited to check out two showrooms that were closed on Sundays. The first was a waste of time. The second, Hot Shots, had five potential models which made it challenging to pick one. Dino not only knows his hot tubs, his suggestions saved me the trouble and expense of upgrading the electric panel. Best of all, no games and no haggling, just honest prices. Unlike competitors, he's the opposite of 'hard sell.' (When told I'd decided on a hot tub he suggested I think about it overnight.) A month later I'm loving the new tub. The build quality is impressive, the jets amazing, and the first electric bill confirms it's even more efficient than the two previous spas (which also featured superior insulated panels instead of blow on insulation). Highly recommended!!

We moved into a home with 3 gas fireplaces so on occasion we need service. A contractor working on our home turned off the gas in our den fireplace. I knew how to restart my other two fireplaces, but the den unit was electronic. The service fee was $295 which seemed outrageous but let me continue. The tech, Geraldo (Jerry) came in. He wore booties from the front door to my interior. He laid out a quilted drop cloth and began the process of starting my fireplace. After getting the fireplace running, he shut it down and carefully removed the glass panel, disassembled the decorative logs, vacuumed with a filtered shop vac, then windexed the glass before reassembling the unit. At every turn, Jerry was precise and took incredible pride in his work. I had questions about operating the remote which he expertly explained. I asked how much training he received and he explained it was extensive. I absolutely marveled at how good the service call was.
